Book Summary:

Jessica Montgomery has always lived by three simple rules: stay calm, stay professional, stay in control. Working tirelessly to make it into the executive ranks of her family’s business, her dream job of CFO is within reach–if she can convince one stubborn and sexy Alabama restaurateur to take her offer and manage Montgomery Industries flagship restaurant in Atlanta.

On the surface Logan Wilde is all good-old-boy charm and humor, but he can’t seem to outrun the hell-raising reputation of his high school years. Although he has thought about leaving his hometown in Falcon Alabama, he has grown to love the town, his restaurant, and his part-time gig coaching the football team.

Jessica estimates it will take a week tops to get Logan Wilde’s signature on her generous offer, but their first meeting is anything but professional. Logan shreds Jessica’s control and unleashes a passion she didn’t know existed even as a deeper connection between them takes root. When her family’s manipulations threaten to tear them apart, Jessica has to decide whether her dream is really the CFO job or the man who has unselfishly offered his love.

Longer Review:

If you’re In the mood for a small town romance that will give you massive feels, then this book will hit the spot. Laura knows how to stir the pot, wreaking a little good natured havoc in her characters’ lives. While this is part of a football series, Logan isn’t just a football coach. He’s a hot as hell chef who will definitely make your mouth water. When Jessica rolls into town with a resting bitch face and legs for days, Logan knows he’s in trouble.

Jessica is a pretty little thing who might be a city girl on the outside, but she shows us in this book that she’s not afraid to let her country girl out. I love traditional contemporary romance books like this that allow me to just sit back and enjoy the story. The heat between Jessica and Logan threatens to boil over with every passing glance, and I was so giddy with excitement when they finally gave in to their desires for one another.

Jessica is known as a barracuda in the business world, but I loved how Logan slices through her walls and releashes her vulnerabilities. Logan has never been much for relationships, but they fit so perfectly together that even he recognizes that this is something different than his usual fare. [OHMYGOD I can’t stop the puns. seriously, they’re just writing themselves now]. I found the cute nicknames and small town charm completely endearing. I happily fell into their world and was smiling wildly when I burst free.

This is the second in the series, but it’s a standalone. While you don’t need to read the first one, those characters are in this book briefly and it was really nice to catch up with them a bit as well. Logan is an undeniably sweet AND savory addition to your book boyfriend shelf. I could savor him all night…4.25 stars!
