Book Summary:

Power. Money. Control. Love.

He has all but one.

When movie star, Evan Carlson, discovers his girlfriend’s picture with another man splashed on the cover of gossip magazines, he decides he’s had enough of his fishbowl life and attempts to outrun the media frenzy his relationships have become. Driving until the road stops, he ends up on the remote and quaint Perry Island, where a heartthrob can blend in like the locals and be a beach bum as long as he wants. All that changes when Evan meets Haven Owen, aspiring songwriter and the girl he just can’t get enough of. A summer romance turns into something much deeper and Evan gets tangled in his own web of lies to keep Haven in his life. But when his ex tracks him down, Evan learns there are some things you just can’t outrun.

Is the cost of love, losing all control?

Longer Review:

VALENTINE’S DAY! I can think of no better day to post this review than today. Finding Haven is the epitome of a sweet love story. Two strangers collide in the most innocent of ways, fall in love, fall apart, and ultimately accept each other for who they each really are. I LOVES IT.

There’s not a ton of unnecessary drama in this book and I really appreciated that. The story progresses thoughtfully – each scene pushes the story along to give it purpose on the whole. I  appreciated that there isn’t a lot of screaming, yelling, over analyzing and crying (there are plenty of books out there that will provide you with that if you’re in the mood).

Haven isn’t an idiotic fuckwit who can barely string two words together in front of an attractive man. She’s down to earth, she’s beautiful, she’s NORMAL.

Evan’s also beautiful, what with the whole being-a-movie-star thing and all, but he’s actually pretty beautiful inside as well. His darlin’ southern ways charmed his way right onto my bookshelf. He’s adorable, and sweet, and actually cares about people, leaving Hollywood because of its vicious and malicious nature. This book is about Evan’s search for that something missing in his life. He’s not quite sure what it is, but he knows it isn’t found under the fake movie sets in Hollywood.

The riff happens because of a lie. Evan lies to Haven to protect her – and to protect himself. The lie is simple, but it’s enough to do some damage when revealed. I’m so happy that the reveal wasn’t overdone. T.A. Foster could have drug that damn lie out for chapters. She could have made me parse through 100 pages of fighting. BUT SHE DIDN’T AND I LOVE HER FOR THAT.

The chemistry between Haven and Evan is really hot. Even when Evan’s fighting for control….fighting not to let go…trying to reign in his desire….even those scenes are hot. Fuck, even when he masturbates in the teeny tiny little RV shower in under seven minutes it’s hot. I’ll just throw it out there – when you read this, get excited for the hurricane. ok? OK.

This book was super easy to read. I flew through it and really really wanted more when it was finished. & GUESS WHAT there is more!!! Red Lines, just released on February 6, 2015.  Yes, YES, ALL THE YES. Series = awesome.
