Book Summary:

She lives by the book—and is still searching for her happily ever after.

Darcy Wilde has tried hard not to live up to her last name. As a librarian in Atlanta she lives a fine life far away from the football-obsessed town of her childhood. But when her beloved Grandmother needs help, Darcy takes a leave of absence and heads back to the home and past she left behind.

He knows how to play the field—and is in no rush to settle down.

Robbie Dalton knows a thing or two about painful pasts. After bouncing around in foster care and the Army for years he is finally ready to move on and make a home for himself in Falcon, Alabama as the newest high school football coach. Sparks fly when the sexy new coach and the sharp-tongued librarian meet, but neither of them is looking to make ties.

But when it comes to love, sometimes you’ve gotta throw away the rule book to cross the finish line…

Everything changes when Darcy falls in love, not only with the gruff, protective, and smoking hot man who’s sharing her days and nights, but also with the complex tapestry of people who weave Falcon together. Could this be where she belongs – and who she belongs with?

Longer Review:

I was definitely smiling at the end of this book. Darcy Wilde is a librarian (yup, love her already) who comes back to her small, Alabama, football-obsessed, town to take care of her grandmother who has become ill. She’s a bit resentful since she’s had to take a leave of absence from work, and she’s really struggling with her emotions. She wants to be there for her grandmother, she knows she needs to be there for her, but she can’t help the desire she has to flee the town just like she did when she was 18.

Darcy’s cousin (but closer to a brother), Logan, is living in town and working at the local bar. He helped his Army buddy, Robert Dalton, get a job as the new football coach. If Robbie can turn this team around, the town will be his for the taking….but if not, he might want to leave now to avoid the pitchfork parade.

When Darcy & Robbie meet it’s immediately electric. But as they spend more time together, they quickly begin to share a connection deeper than the physical. They both turn into lovesick teenagers as they try to tamp down their feelings and keep things casual – because what happens when Darcy goes back to her real life? and if Robbie loses his job?

But some things can’t be helped – and their relationship is one of them. This story lets you watch the two of them build their relationship piece by piece. It starts out because Darcy’s misunderstanding creates a rumor that just won’t die…and that she feels obligated to fix with food & fake dates. But it turns into ATV rides and talking and holding each other when times are hard. Even though Robbie doesn’t want to let her in, somehow she sneaks her way past all of his Army defenses and gets into his heart.

If you like a good football movie or tv show (Friday Night Lights, anyone?!) you will definitely love this book!!
