What happens when the one you want is the only one you can’t have?

My name is Sevin.

Homeschooled and sheltered by my ultra-religious family, I was always taught that lust was a sin.

Elle was the girl who’d been carefully chosen for me.

After a long-distance courtship, I’d be moving into her family’s guesthouse so that we could get to know each other in the months before the wedding.

Boundaries were set: no inappropriate touching, no kissing, no sex before marriage.

I’d accepted those rules and my fate.

Until I met the one I wanted to sin with.

That was when restraint became a problem…especially since THE ONE wasn’t Elle.

It was her sister, Evangeline.

You know what they say about best laid plans.

My name is Sevin, and I have sinned.

Told in alternating points of view, Sins of Sevin is a full-length standalone novel.

Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language.

Only appropriate for adult readers

age 18+.

SINS OF SEVIN EXCERPT

Copyright © 2015 by Penelope Ward

He quietly followed me into the dining room, carrying the flatware. The tension in the air was thick as he walked behind me around the oval table, setting down silverware after each plate I’d put down. It was like some weird game of musical chairs where awkward silence replaced the music. The hairs on my back stiffened. We weren’t saying anything, but it was as if I could feel the weight of a thousand words along with the heat of his body so close behind me.

When I noticed he’d just put a fork where the spoon was supposed to go, I switched it. “The forks go on this side, actually.” My hand was shaking. I couldn’t believe how little control I had over myself.

Noticing my nerves, he suddenly placed his hand over mine and whispered, “Stop.”

Chills ran through me. My heart started to beat faster. My nipples hardened. I hated my body for responding to him with equal amounts of fear and lust.

I turned to him, his hand still over my knuckles. It felt like I couldn’t breathe as he just looked at me.

My mother’s footsteps caused Sevin to move his hand off mine with lightning speed.

Mama entered, and we continued setting the table as if our stolen moment hadn’t happened.

Cover Reveal: The Play by Karina Halle

Blurb:

A troubled Scottish rugby player who doesn’t play by the rules.
A vivacious man-eater who’s given up on love.
When it comes to Lachlan and Kayla, opposites don’t just attract – they explode.

Kayla Moore has always been comfortable with her feisty, maneating reputation. At least it was fine until she hit her thirties and saw her best friends Stephanie and Nicola settle down with Linden and Bram McGregor, leaving Kayla to be the odd one out. Tired of being the third wheel with nothing but one-night stands and dead-end dates in San Francisco, Kayla decides to take a vow of celibacy and put men on the backburner.

That is until she lays her eyes on Linden and Bram’s cousin, hot Scot Lachlan McGregor. Lachlan is her sexual fantasy come to life – tall, tatted, and built like a Mack truck. With a steely gaze and successful rugby career back in Edinburgh, he’s the kind of man that makes her want to throw her vow right out the window. But Lachlan’s quiet and intense demeanor makes him a hard man to get to know, let alone get close to.

It isn’t until the two of them are thrown together one long, unforgettable night that Kayla realizes there is so much more to this brooding macho man than what meets the eye. But even with sparks flying between the two, Lachlan can’t stay in America forever. Now, Kayla has to decide whether to uproot her whole life and chance it all on someone she barely knows or risk getting burned once again.
Sometimes love is a game that just needs to be played.

Review: Justified Box Set by Ali Parker

Author: Ali Parker

Book: Justified

tl;dr recommendation: Justified is a purely enjoyable bout of lust filled passion and love soaked need. 4 stars!

Book Summary:

This includes the FULL serial series. COMPLETE STORY – HEA.

** 18+ Harsh language and sexual situations.

Lust has always been the emotion of choice; love nothing more than a silly game played by delusional fools.

Lisa Parks has been successful at everything she touches, her confidence her calling card. A recent move to Maine from New York is just the change of atmosphere she needs for a fresh start. With far too many mistakes in her past, her eyes remain focused on loving and leaving, her actions justified by far too many cracks in her damaged heart.

Marc Martin is living the dream, his college being paid for and his sights set on great things. In a quick turnaround trip to help his older sister Kari move to Maine after heartbreak, Marc meets the woman that just might be his match. Lust has been a reoccurring theme in his life, and he has no plans of changing that. He is young and free, handsome and ready to set the world on fire, and finds that he is justified in breaking hearts everywhere he goes. Besides, love is a game played by many and truly won by few.

No way would he ever consider settling down or letting someone into his heart. That is… until he meets Lisa.

Longer Review:

Rawr! Feisty and holy-shit-i-need-a-minute-that-was-hot meets vulnerability and miscommunication in this sweet and sexy serial set. For real though, I had to put down the book after that dressing room scene to uh, take care of a few things.

Lisa is love-phobic. She prefers her men interchangeable and her life uncomplicated. Except that ever since she met her best friend’s brother, Marc, she can’t picture anyone else mid-orgasm. However, Marc’s still in college, a huge player in his own right, and lives hundreds of miles away from her.

Justified is a purely enjoyable bout of lust filled passion and love soaked need. They both struggle to fit what they’ve found into their messy lives, opening insecurities along the way and pushing each other’s every button.

When two players collide and compete for dominance, sparks fly, tempers flare and wild sex is had. I loved every second of it. 4 stars!

Review: His Pawn by Willa Thorne

Author: Willa Thorne

Book: His Pawn (Manhattan Tales #1)

Other books in series:

Queen In Play (Manhattan Tales #2)
End Game (Manhattan Tales #3)

tl;dr recommendation: manipulation and sparks fill the pages as Mason & Jill contemplate their next move – 3.75 stars!

Book Summary:

The plan seemed simple. I’d use her every which way, and then send her back to her brother with a clear message: You had your fun, and I had mine. Little did I know that I’d fall for her…

Meet Mason Woodward, a British Billionaire, who manages his father’s company in Manhattan, New York. He’s handsome, wealthy, has a filthy mind, and knows how to get what he wants. At one time, he knew what it meant to care about other people- until he found his best friend, Travis Pryor, in bed with the woman he intended to marry. Now, Mason has a plan for payback that involves Jillian, the younger sister of Travis. He’ll hook and reel her in.

“If Travis can take the love of my life, then I’ll take his little sister.”
The plan seemed solid, until she got under his skin and began to challenge everything he was thinking…

Longer Review:

Ahhhh Willa! You slay me. That cliffy is killerrrrrr. Mason is the man I love to hate and hate that I love. And hated him I did. I had that something-terrible-is-going-to-happen-feeling in the pit of my stomach as the pages turned. This book made me nervous. If your’e looking for a caring and sweet Hero, Mason fails on every account. He’s selfish, egotistical, narcissistic and vengeful. Until Jill puts a crack in every piece of his armor.

Willa gives us just enough insight into the man that Mason used to be, back before his best friend (and Jill’s brother) slept with the woman he wanted to call his wife, to let us know that Mason is redeemable. Even though his relationship with Jill starts out as a plot for revenge against Travis for that unforgivable act, Mason quickly realizes that Jill is so much more to him than a pawn at his mercy. Lightness flows through her and he begins to suppress the demons that have haunted him all of his life. The sex is dominant and on fire. Even though Jill knows that their relationship is short-lived, she can’t help but feel the burn throughout her body every time she looks Mason’s way.

I struggled a bit with the writing in this book. The lack of contractions often made the story feel very formal – when there was no reason for formality. Additionally, the way certain scenes went from one to the other felt choppy. I loved the characters, but would have fallen at their feet if their dialogue and connection was a little easier. With a bit of editing, this could easily be a five star series.

Regardless, manipulation and sparks fill the pages as Mason & Jill contemplate their next move in this sexy dark romance. This debut from Willa will have you tied in knots, begging for so much more. 3.75 stars!

I’m the guy you love to hate.

In every story in my life, I seem to end up playing the villain—and I’ve got the scars to prove it.

That role works fine for me, because I’m sure as hell not anyone’s hero. I run my life and my empire with an iron fist—until she knocks my tightly controlled world off its axis.

She’s nobody’s damsel in distress, but I can’t help but want to save her anyway.

I guess we’re about to find out if there’s a hero buried … beneath these scars.

 Review

This is one of the best hate-fucking books I’ve read in a LONG time. Angry sex in the pool? check. Hate fucking in the kitchen? check. ‘Fuck you’ being screamed mid-orgasm? Triple Check. While Yve’s mind desperately wants to hate Lucas, her body has other ideas.

There is a new word for obstinacy and I shall call it Yvestinacy. That sounds a little bit like a disease, and I’m sort of sorry for that. But SERIOUSLY. Yve is incredibly stubborn, but I get it. She escaped the clutches of a terrible situation practically all by herself and she’s been relying on herself for so long she doesn’t know what it’s like to have support. Her scars run deep and are about to be ripped back open. I hated her pain but loved her triumph.

Lucas is a giant, muscular asshole who is equally scarred but beautiful. He’s really a dick. Completely and totally. If it’s not making him money, he doesn’t care. If he paid for it, he’s going to get his money’s worth. He takes charge and has control over every aspect of his life and he gets what he wants. Which is why when Yve tells him to go fuck himself, he’s both pissed and turned on.

The sparks between Yve and Lucas combust like the Big Bang, creating a new, stronger, version of each of them.  As Yve learns to trust and Lucas learns to let go, they have to deal with the hurdles being thrown at them and messing with whatever this relationship thing is.

Sexy and endearing, this modern day Beauty and the Beast tale made me fucking smile. Full of growls, demands, commands and hot as hell sex, I am all in when it comes to Lucas Titan. 5 stars!

Chapter 1

Lucas

SWEAT DRIPPED INTO MY EYES as I bounced on the balls of my feet. Someone had to be calling out how much time was left in this round soon. My pride was on the line, and there was no way I would hand it over to Con Leahy. He’d already gotten the girl, and I wasn’t about to let him humiliate me in the ring in this piece-of-shit New Orleans gym too.

My muscles burned, but that was nothing compared to the heat of victory—or the sting of defeat. What had started out as a boxing lesson had quickly transformed into an all-out brawl for dominance and respect.

Only you would pay a million dollars to get your ass kicked, Titan. The voice in my head mocked me as I bobbed and weaved. But I hadn’t paid a million to get my ass kicked. I’d done it because that night at the charity auction I’d been drunk, pissed off, and determined to prove a point—he might’ve gotten the girl, but I was still the one with the power. I got a sick sense of satisfaction that every time Con bought something for his gym and these kids, he had to think of me.

I swung with another right hook. The blow connected with Con’s jaw and snapped his head to the side.

Yeah. That’s right. But my mental cheer came a moment too soon, and pain exploded in my left side.

Shit, that’s going to hurt tomorrow.

I stumbled back but threw myself forward again, shooting out my fist with an uppercut that knocked Con back a step. This was how it had gone for the last several minutes—trading punches and circling each other.

There was no love lost in this ring, that was for damn sure, and I was ready for this to be over. I would walk out of here with every bit of the respect I was owed. Fuck anyone who thought otherwise.

Con moved toward me and the circling started again. The cheers and chants from the crowd surrounding the ring in the old warehouse gym seemed to grow every time I glanced beyond the ropes. A flash of blond hair caught my eye as I stepped left and Con shifted to the right.

Vanessa.

She threw her head back and laughed at something said by her redheaded friend, Elle. I turned my attention back to the man in front of me, but my focus wandered again when a huskier, sexier laugh echoed through the room.

My eyes strayed from Con for a second too long as I tried to track down the source of the laughter. Pain burst through my jaw, catching me by surprise, and I stumbled back into the ropes. Using their momentum, I shoved off to the side, my pride stinging from my momentary lapse in concentration. Embarrassed and now thoroughly pissed off, I surged forward and attacked.

One punch. That was all I landed before the bell rang, signaling the end of the round and my very expensive “lesson.”

I pushed off Con, and my knee might have slipped as I stepped back . . . and caught him directly in the balls. It was probably an accident. I huffed out a chuckle, but Con didn’t share my humor.

“Goddamn it!” he roared. “Are you fucking serious?”

It was like stabbing a bull with a matador’s sword, but I was ready for him. I jumped out of the way as Con charged, and shifted into a defensive stance when he swung.

“Should’ve expected a cheap shot from you, motherfucker.” Unrestrained anger flashed over his face as every shred of coaching mentality fled, along with that smug superiority he’d been giving me.

Good. You aren’t better than me, Leahy. I could buy and sell you a hundred times over.

He might’ve gotten the girl, but I wasn’t going to let him get away with her clean. I wanted blood.

“Should’ve expected you to strut around this ring like a fucking cock of the walk,” I shot back.

Con feinted and swung again, but I’d been studying his movements. I bobbed and weaved, and got the hell out of the way.

I threw my own punch as soon as I had a clean shot. It landed just below Con’s left eye, splitting the skin over his cheekbone and sending blood spattering everywhere.

The taste of victory was sweet. “First blood,” I said under my breath.

Apparently my words weren’t quiet enough because Con’s head snapped up and he glared at me with disgust, as if I needed to be put down like a rabid animal. “This ain’t a fuckin’ duel, you piece of shit.”

“It sure isn’t a friendly competition either.”

“Paid a million to get that cheap shot in, didn’t you?”

My lips twisted into a mocking smile. “I sure didn’t pay a million to have you show me up.”

Con dropped his hands and shook his head. “Just when I thought you weren’t a complete fucking asshole.”

“You were wrong,” I replied, turning for the ropes.

Con’s fists lifted and before I could react, one connected with my cheekbone. The instantaneous gush of blood told me I’d have a scar to match his, but it didn’t matter. One more scar wouldn’t hurt my banged-up face.

I roared as I charged, but I didn’t get the chance to retaliate. Shouts filled the room, and beefy arms wrapped around my body, holding me back.

“You’re not half bad when you’re not being a shady rich prick,” Lord’s voice said in my ear.

I lunged toward Con, but Lord’s grip only tightened. “Get your goddamn hands off me,” I growled at him.

Leaning closer to my ear, he lowered his voice. “When you calm the hell down and realize you’re making an ass of yourself in front of a bunch of kids and women.”

I glanced out to the crowd and read disgust on so many faces, including Vanessa’s. Like it mattered what a single goddamn person in this gym thought of me. I could buy and sell them all.

Lord was still holding me back when Con came toward us. He yanked his gloves off and wiped at the blood still dripping from the gash on his face.

“You’re also not half bad when you’re paying attention—and when you’re not throwing a knee into my nuts. But I think you’ve overstayed your welcome.”

I jerked at the arms trapping me. “Call off your dog, and I’m gone.”

“You ever want another round, it’s gonna cost you two million next time,” Con said.

“For another chance to make you bleed? I’d pay even more.”

Con nodded to his brother, and Lord let me go. The crowd had already started to disperse. The only person in the building who probably didn’t want to run me down in the parking lot was my COO, and arguably my friend, Ryder Colson. And he was nowhere to be seen.

Instead of Colson, I saw a group of women moving toward the door—Vanessa Frost in her white cotton dress, Elle Snyder in her yellow retro number, and two others I didn’t know. One looked familiar with tanned skin the color of honey, her hair in dark waves, and a curvy body displayed by a funky teal dress with hot-pink polka dots. She hooked her hands on her hips, and that husky laugh echoed through the room again. Apparently she was the one who had distracted me in the ring. My eyes didn’t move from her to take in the fourth woman.

Colson came up beside me. “Who knew there’d be so many hot pieces of ass in this shit warehouse?”

I turned toward him. “Give any of them a shot, and you’ll probably find yourself bleeding on the floor.”

Ryder shrugged off my comment. “Go get your shit. I’ll wait.”

He was gone before I could tell him he didn’t need to wait around for me. But then again, he was my only ally in a building full of people who undoubtedly would have preferred to see me KO’d on the floor of the ring. Just one more place I’d never be welcome.

Good thing I didn’t give a fuck.

I’d showed up, gone toe-to-toe with Con, and had taken back a piece of my pride. That was enough.

For today.

I was already thinking of hiring a trainer as I went for my bag.

Review

This book popped my billionaire mafia cherry and fuck, I liked it. I don’t know why I’m surprised: an alpha billionaire whose focus is on distancing himself from his mafia family meets a virgin genius who is too smart for her own good. This set up is exactly my cup of tea – that I have dumped lots of sugar into and I could give two fucks whether it’s healthy or not. Sorry not sorry, Mari.

Mari’s actually a genius. Like a real, live, genius. She also has probably the oddest background of any heroine I have ever read: her mother picked out her donor sperm father with the specific intent of creating a genius child. Mari was then groomed from birth to be the genius that is going to change the world. Sadly, that also made her pretty fucking socially awkward. She finally decides to break out of the mold for just one night…and well, shit doesn’t go quite to plan. Suddenly she’s trying to outrun a bullet (she doesn’t have magical powers. sorry) and the mafia.

Is Mari going to annoy the fuck out of you when she reminds you every five seconds that she’s smart? Yes. Is she going to do really stupid things that will cause you to wonder if she actually IS intelligent? Fuck, yes. But let’s remember here: all of her terrible decisions surround social situations, so cut the girl a break. Her awkwardness is true to character and hell, she actually grew on me.

I really liked Alexi. He’s alpha and complex without being overly gruff. He feels a strange connection to Mari that’s unlike any he’s ever felt before, which causes him to make possessive declarations; yet, he still takes things (physically) slow. I loved his intuition and his good heart. There is actually a sweet love story that’s mixed in with the strange yet enjoyable plot as Mari tries to figure out who she really is while Alexi tries to find a way to keep her alive.

Mafia danger, virgin wife & a billionaire….this book is a pleasure you shouldn’t feel guilty about. 3.75 stars!

About the Author

Lauren Hawkeye/ Lauren Jameson never imagined that she’d wind up telling stories for a living… though when she looks back, it’s easy to see that she’s the only one who is surprised. Always “the kid who read all the time”, Lauren made up stories about her favorite characters once she’d finished a book… and once spent an entire year narrating her own life internally. No, really. But where she was just plain odd before publication, now she can at least claim to have an artistic temperament.

Lauren lives in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada with her husband, toddler, pit bull and idiot cat, though they do not live in an igloo, nor do they drive a dogsled. In her nonexistent spare time Lauren can be found knitting (her husband claims that her snobby yarn collection is exorbitant), reading anything she can get her hands on, or sweating her way through spin class. Sinful Desire - Release Week Teaser 3

REVIEW

This is a dirty-talking work of art. While a little lengthy (we all like ’em long though), I could have rolled around in the pages for days, especially with Ryan. Holy Hell, I fell for him immediately. My skin prickled and pussy clenched the second he started whispering commands in Sophie’s ear. I’m not sure he could have gotten any hotter. Yes, sir. Please, sir.

Ryan meets Sophie on a complete whim – call it lust at first sight or whatever you want, but when he sees her red lips and rocking body step out of her car in front of the county municipal building he’s instantly hard and needs to know her. Despite their stranger status, their connection is knowing. The anticipation made me feel alive, and Blakely delivers on every promise her characters make.

As their relationship grows from something that could be notched on the one-night stand post to more I fell further for both of them.

I loved everything about Sophie’s strong presence & submissive bedroom spirit. She’s a sassy and accomplished woman and she doesn’t take shit from anyone. She’s completely put together – exactly like this story. Ryan’s dominant nature, need for control, and steely commands had me begging for release. There are so many incredibly hot sex scenes in this book, you should have your vibrator on standby.

The overarching plot involves Ryan’s quest to find out what really happened with his father’s murder. This is a continuation of book 1, but you don’t need to read that one to understand this one (although you should because, BRENT).

The sexiest thing about both of these characters is their confidence and willingness to – *gasp!* – work on things. They know what they want in the bedroom (and it is RED HOT) and while they struggle with issues of the heart, they also act like adults when things get a little complicated. I was cheering for these two from the second Ryan’s dick hardened when he got his first glance of Sophie. The email banter is on point & the submission contains just enough kink to get me off. Basically, this book hits all of my favorite plot points and is hot enough to light me on fire.

Mystery swirls around the story, like a storm cloud building momentum, waiting to strike. Clues are collected, orgasms are reached, and love is solidified. Blakely has incredible talent crafting characters you want to know, want to love, and want to cheer for. She totally achieves that here. Sinful and romantic, Lauren one-ups herself. LOVED. 5 Stars!

Excerpt

“His fingers traveled along her spine and up her neck to her hair, grabbing it, turning her so she looked up at him. Her eyes were hazy and full of a lust that matched his. “Do you have any idea what you do to me?” he asked harshly.

“I think I do.”

“You are under my skin,” he whispered, as he kept her pressed against the warm hood with one hand, then slinked his other hand down to her waist, and unfastened the slim, orange belt. “And in my head,” he continued as he snapped the belt free. “And I can’t fucking stop thinking about you.”

“I can’t stop either,” she said, and in a flash he wrapped the belt around her wrists, knotting it, twisting it, and tying her hands together with her own accessory. She allowed him, offering up her wrists to be bound. She was a willing hostage.

“That turns me on even more,” he growled in her ear, as he stretched her tied arms along the silver hood.

“Tying me up?”

“Yes,” he said, pressing his erection against her ass. “But what makes me rock hard is the way you let me. The way you want me to. The way you give your body to me,” he said as he grabbed a condom from his pocket, unzipped his pants, and pushed down his briefs.”

Lesson One.

“It’s called Devil’s Trill.” Pastor Cabot spoke once he put his violin down.

“That’s a peculiar title for clergy to play in a church.” I was surprised.

I got a grin with teeth for that.

“There are legends. I don’t know which is true. His name was Tartini. Born in Italy, I think. Late seventeenth century. One rumor is he had six fingers on his left hand, all functional, so he was remarkable. Another rumor was he dreamed of the Devil, and lent him his violin, and the song he played was unparalleled to anything Tartini had ever heard. And Devil’s Trill was his reimagining of it. Another rumor, and the most interesting, to me at least, was that the rest of the music written after Devil’s Trill was to entice the Devil, and nothing Tartini ever did brought him back.” Pastor Cabot smiled again and put his instrument away. I couldn’t stop looking at him.

The room was dark and dreary. All wood and leather, and a magnificent fireplace. It was too warm for a fire, but I imagine it made the room a hundred times more hospitable. I wasn’t sure if this belonged to the church or to the Cabot home, but I guess it was irrelevant since they were all connected.

“It changed the music for me. To listen to the rest of it, the…enticement, it does feel sacrilegious. Gorgeous blasphemy.”

I never thought a pastor would speak like that. I smiled. “But it’s legend. He could’ve easily just had six functional fingers,” I said, and licked my lips quickly.

“Which is likely,” he agreed, and sat on a chair in front of his fireplace. Even though his living quarters attached to the church, it still felt novel being in a room he clearly spent a lot of his time in. “Sit.”

I did. In the chair across from him.

“Remind me when are you meant to wed?”

“In two years.” I felt lead drop. I didn’t like it.

Pastor Cabot sat back and ‘hmmed’. “So, she would be fourteen, then?”

I nodded and looked toward the fireplace.

“You don’t look very happy about it.”

“I don’t know how I feel about it.”

“Two years is a long time at your age, especially once you start thinking about intercourse.”

I didn’t think about intercourse, but apparently it was normal, so I wouldn’t refute him. I thought of mouths and hands…but now I was curious. “It is a long time, but then she’s expected to lie there and let me, and it doesn’t seem fair.”

“That’s the first time I’ve ever heard anyone mention what might be fair to the girl. She knows what’s expected of her.”

“But isn’t it nicer if both parties want it?”

“They aren’t raised to want it.”

“So, they don’t get…aroused? Ever?”

“If by some fluke they do, it probably confuses them, or it might be the Devil. I don’t know.”

He was speaking of women as if they were a completely different species. “Honestly, I’ve never even considered that they couldn’t get aroused. I’ve seen my parents hug with affection, and smile at one another as if they appreciate each other‒”

“Well, I didn’t say she would hate it. She would just…take it. Like she’s supposed to.”

Cover Reveal: Dreams of Her Own by Rebecca Heflin

DREAMS OF HER OWN
Dreams Come True #3
Rebecca Heflin
Releasing November 2015
Soul Mate Publishing, LLC
Can even the unlikeliest of dreams come true?
He sees a spinsterish misfit.

If the Guinness Book of World Records had a category for the world’s most
boring life, Millie Stephens knows she would hold the record. After the plain,
strait-laced personal assistant is saved by a total stranger from becoming New
York City’s latest traffic fatality, she has a disheartening epiphany: her
life’s highlight reel didn’t exist. Determined to step out of the shadows and
take a walk on the wild side, she starts Millie-style – by making a list.
She sees a stereotypical thug.

That total stranger, bad boy Ian Brand, is more than the sum of his parts.
Beneath that sexy, tattooed exterior is a man with a painful past who’s
desperate to both hide and overcome his disability in the pursuit of his
dreams. But his decision to bid on a large construction project could both lead
to his downfall and reveal his secret.

Will Millie and Ian look beneath the surface and see there’s more to each other
than meets the eye?

If the Guinness Book of World Records had a category for the world’s most boring life,
Millie Stephens knew she would hold the record.
Bundled up in her brown wool coat against the chill of a New York fall, shehurried down the Brooklyn sidewalk to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription
for her boss.

As personal assistant for best-selling romance author, Darcy Butler-Ryan,
Millie kept her calendar, edited her manuscripts, handled her social media, and
through her agent, Gloria Madison, scheduled her public appearances, among
other duties. Since Darcy had become pregnant, Millie had also taken it upon herself
to run errands and generally oversee Darcy’s health and well-being.

Thus, the trip to the pharmacy for Darcy’s anti-nausea medication.

She consulted the day’s to-do list to see what other errands were on it. Lists
were her life. They provided organization, structure, and a sense of
accomplishment. She loved ticking things off her list so much that if she
accomplished something that wasn’t on the list, she’d write it down just so she
could have the pleasure of marking it off.

She had a list for everything. Errands. Tasks. Books to be read. Special dates
to remember. If something needed doing, she had a list for it, all
appropriately categorized, of course. Shoving her errand list into her coat
pocket, she stopped at the corner and waited for the walk signal. As soon as
the light changed, she stepped out into the pedestrian crosswalk, anxious to
get to the pharmacy and out of the cold. She glanced to her left and froze, as
a delivery truck barreled down the street as if the red light meant nothing. And
as if she truly were invisible.

Fear stole her ability to move and she scrunched her eyes closed hoping death
would at least be quick. She strived for invisibility, but now she’d give
anything to stand out.

Next thing she knew she was yanked from behind and hauled up against a hard
object, bands of steel around her waist, her feet dangling in the air.

“Are you okay?” a gruff male voice asked, his breath warm in her ear.

She nodded, unsure if she could do any more than that.

“I’m going to set you back on your feet. Do you think you can stand?”

Nodding again, she realized the hard object at her back was a man’s chest, and
the steel bands were his arms. She slid down his body and felt the sidewalk
beneath her feet. A wave of dizziness washed over her.

“Breathe,” her rescuer encouraged. He turned her to face him, his hands on her
shoulders, and she looked up and into eyes the color of a winter-gray sky,
earnest with concern. His already tousled sandy blond hair ruffled in the wind
whipping around the corner, and his chin bore the stubble so many women were
fond of.

She inhaled deeply, drawing in the scent of something spicy and leathery.
“Better?”

She nodded, still speechless.

“You should always wait after the signal changes before you cross a street.
I’ve got an appointment. You’re sure you’re okay?”

She nodded.

“Be more careful next time,” the stranger in the leather jacket said before he
turned to walk away.

Millie managed to put one foot in front of the other for another block before
coming to a bus stop and collapsing onto the bench. Her legs shook, her hands
quivered, and she struggled to take in a deep breath. All she could think about
was how your life was supposed to flash before your eyes when confronted with a
near-death experience, and hers . . . didn’t. Instead it was like a film
projector that had run out of film – just a blank screen.
What did that mean?

It meant, Millicent Grace Stephens, that your life has been so boring that the
highlight reel was nonexistent. Her thirtieth birthday was right around the
corner, and what had she accomplished with her life?

Not much, that’s what.

Sure, she had a bachelor’s in literature, summa cum laude, with a focus on the
Middle Ages from Sarah Lawrence College. She had a job she loved. And she could
support herself. Other than that, she might as well have become a nun for all
the excitement her life held.

She recalled the hard strength of her rescuer’s chest against her back. The
rough and tumble look of him. She’d bet her first edition autographed copy of
Edith Wharton’s Age of Innocence, that his life wasn’t boring. That if he had a
near-death experience he’d have a highlight reel worthy of an action
movie.

Rising on still-wobbly legs, she drew in a long, slow breath, and resumed her
errand in an I-almost-died daze.

The minute any woman walks into my bar, I can tell two things about her: what she wants to drink, and how she likes to f*ck.

I’m Cash: bartender at the hottest bar in Atlanta. I’ve got girls lining up around the block, and they all know the rules: no strings, no promises, and no morning-after snuggling. You want brunch? Call your sister. You want the best sex of your life? Call me. Or better yet, just drop by the bar anytime. Clothing optional.

There’s a reason they call me a sexy bastard.

REVIEW

CASH will wash away the taste of your last book boyfriend. Smartly written yet seriously sexy, Jagger once again has me swooning over another sexy bastard.

Cash is the manwhore mixologist who thinks he knows the game. He’s the master at flirting and filling…the drinks at Altitude’s bar. His carousel of women serve him well: no hard feelings, no attachments, no sharing of feelings required. Until Savy walks into his life and shakes everything up.

I ADORED SAVANNAH. I’m sure it’s biased because, well, she’s a lawyer. But it’s more than that – she’s a sassy, determined, funny and sweet lawyer who is also fucking hot. Shit, even I want to date her. Oh, hello lady crush.

Note: major points for getting the lawerly stuff right. Bless you, Eve.

This book has just enough drama to keep you interested without being overly angsty. Savy and Cash may think they’re keeping things casual, but somehow that never works out to plan, does it?

The family drama was an interesting spin that took me by surprise but made me swoon even harder for Cash. Damn, he’s a good guy and has an eight pack?! Yes, this is heaven. I can’t even begin to discuss what he can do with his tongue because then I’ll go searching for demonstrative gifs on tumblr and this review will never be finished. So just trust me on this one: It’s out-of-control hot.

While the Big Reveal had me questioning my love for Savy a tinge bit, and I found that part a little repetitive, I shall easily forgive her. Her love for her friends, her incessant planning and her desire for more out of life definitely makes her one of my favorites.

CASH is full of moments that will have you fist pumping, shaking your head and reading one-handed. I promise: you want your hands all over this sexy bastard. 4.5 stars!

EXCERPT

Cash is certainly not Mr. Right, but hell if I don’t want him to be Mr. Right Now.

That’s it. Throwing caution to the wind, I lean into him and kiss him right on the lips.

He tastes like champagne and mint. It’s a quick kiss. I draw away much sooner than I would like, but it’s just as good the second time around. It clouds my head, and for the first time in forever I don’t care about my job or promotion.

Staring into my eyes, he tucks my hair behind my ear and with both hands grasping my face kisses me harder, rougher. It’s a wake-up call for my body. Every nerve’s cell tunes in to see what his hands will do next. Logically, I should stop and thank Cash for the rescue and tell him this can’t go any further, but the pleasure pooling between my legs says keep this fucking going. I thread my fingers into his hair and pull him closer.

Damn. Cash wasn’t lying. His mouth is magic. Until he pulls away. Again.

Again. I let out a noise of frustration and he chuckles.

“Easy there, sweetheart.”

“We were just getting to the good part,” I grab his shirt again, but he backs off.

“Trust me, this isn’t the good part. But I’m saving that until you’re sober.”

“I’m fine!” I protest, my blood still singing from the kiss. I want him. Now.

Cash shakes his head. “Let me put it like this.” He traces a slow, burning path up the side of my bare arm, until I swear I’m panting. “If you fuck me tonight, it’ll be about him. And when I take you – because sweetheart, you best believe, I’m going to be the one doing the taking – I’m going to be the only one on your mind. Until you can’t manage a single thought, other than ‘yes, Cash. More, Cash.’ Understand?”

Goddamn.

I nod, slowly, because I don’t have a choice. Then Cash stands, and offers me his arm. Chivalrous, like he just didn’t promise to fuck my brains out. “Now, let’s get you home.”
