Koda’s found his sister, Winnie, and now he’s made a life for himself in Gray Ridge, Colorado. As a bear shifter, he’s naturally a loner, and with so few females around, he’s resigned to never finding his mate. But when he stumbles upon a woman in the woods, his whole world changes.

Snow’s been on the run and has made a makeshift family with a band of seven wanderers. While resting in the woods and waiting for them to come back, something big finds her.

When Koda and Snow collide, they realize their stories are woven together more tightly than they could have imagined. Will the truth break their mates bond? Or will it bind them closer together?

Warning: This fairy-tale shifter story is full of alpha sweetness with a side of growly bear. What’s not to love?! If you love a classic story with a dirty twist, then get your click on!

(A taste)

It’s still dark when I wake up with a jolt, the cold sweat covering my naked body. It takes me a moment, like it always does, to remember where I am and that I’m safe. The seconds tick by, and my breathing evens out. Rubbing my hands against my eyes, I remind myself that I’m not in a cage.

I give up on sleep and get up from the bed. I make my way to the bathroom, turn on the shower, and get in before the water has a chance to warm up. I’m used to cold showers after being denied the luxury of hot water for so long and then having to bathe in rivers when I escaped.

I soap up and try not to think about my past, but it always comes flooding back after a nightmare. I can’t seem to stop it, so I just have to ride it out until all the feelings pass. This dream was like so many before, most of it exactly the same, but sometimes my mind likes to add in details that weren’t there, just to fuck with me.

This time when I was dreaming, I was in the cage again. The one they kept me locked in unless they were running tests. They had a theory that if shifters were kept in small places, they would be less likely, or unable, to shift.

In this dream, I was in the cage, and I could hear Winnie crying. I know this didn’t happen because Winnie was never captured with me. She got away. I always have to remind myself of that. We were young when we were caught, but she fought and was able to get free. I was too drugged up to know what happened, and all I could remember was waking up in a cell without her.

I’d learned over the years that we were taken by a company that was doing research on shifters. They kept us as if we were animals in a lab. It was a horrible time in my life, and ever since I broke free, my only goal was finding my sister. When I found her, it was only to see that she had amnesia and was being cared for here in Gray Ridge. Winnie had gotten lucky, and Alpha Stone had taken her into the pack and kept her safe. When I found her, and when her memories came back, I felt like my journey had finally come to an end.

Only it didn’t.

I’m a bear shifter, and there aren’t as many of us as there are of other species. Even fewer bear shifter females exist. When Winnie mated with Alpha Stone, I could have left, but I didn’t want to. Bears aren’t normally pack animals, but they are close to their families. I couldn’t move away from Winnie after finally finding her, even though she was mated.

Thankfully, Alpha Stone welcomed me into the pack and gave me some land. Xavier, one of the wolf shifters, and I built my cabin out here to give me some space away from the pack and also to have a way to stay close to Winnie.

I’d been in captivity for so long that I was worried I wouldn’t be able to adjust to pack life. But Xavier had gone through some trauma before he met his mate, and he was able to give me some advice to help me cope.

When we built the house, he helped me put in extra security measures so that I could feel safe again. My nightmares used to be a lot worse, and I think he knew it. So to help, we installed bolted locks both inside and outside the entry points of the house. The locks are in place in a way that no one is going in or out of my home without my permission. The extra security helps me sleep. As long as the nightmares don’t creep in.

When I’ve finished showering, I make myself breakfast and have coffee. My life is very quiet, and I don’t have many friends—just the Gray Ridge pack people who Winnie makes me hang out with. I look over at the counter and see an invitation to a kid’s birthday party at Xavier and Gwen’s home. I know I should want to go and be around everyone, but I feel myself getting tired and wanting to hibernate.

I let out a long sigh and try to shake off the dark mood. Internally, I know that I’m safe and everything is okay. I’m just getting used to the world again. Also being around a lot of happy mated couples can start to wear on any single shifter after a while. There’s a longing that comes with wanting to find your mate, and knowing I probably never will sends another wave of sadness over me.

Closing my eyes, I see dark hair and blue eyes. I try to grab on to the image, but it’s gone like smoke through my fingers. I think of the image every time I think about finding my mate. I don’t even know where the image is from or how I remember it, but something about it is familiar.

I push away from the table and clean up the kitchen. When I finish, I look outside. The sun has come up and it’s starting to snow a bit. I love this time of year. The cool air and the clean smells of the forest calm my bear. I feel him stir inside me, and I decide he could use a walk in the woods.

Bears aren’t much for running or spending energy when they don’t have to. Our shifters are usually really big and solidly built. I lost a lot of weight when I was being held captive, but in the time since, I’ve put on a lot of weight. It feels good to have the extra layers of thick muscle and even a little extra around my mid-section. We’re pretty hairy, too, and I definitely meet that type. My long beard and chest hair help keep me warm when it’s cold out. So even though it’s snowing, I don’t need much coverage.

I’ve got on a long-sleeved, cream-colored thermal shirt and jeans. I go over to the door, pull on my boots, and then go about unlocking the door. I walk outside and turn, locking the cabin back up.

The woods are quiet, and my bear is enjoying the peace. He likes being outside, but a lot of times my fear overrides his need and we stay indoors. This is good for both of us, at least for a little while.

I walk for a few miles and come through the clearing next to the lake. I don’t usually venture to this side of the protected lands, but I just need a change today. New scenery. Something inside me is telling me this will be best for me and my bear. That we need a new direction and something different to see today.

Looking off in the distance, I see a dark figure on the ground. My bear is instantly alert, and I widen my stance, preparing for danger. I raise my nose, trying to catch a scent, but the wind is at my back. Slowly and silently, I walk around the edge of the lake, looking for danger from every direction.

My bear is pacing, trying to get out, but I want to be able to hold my skin. I’m always terrified that someone will try to take me again after getting captured the last time, so I’m being extra cautious.

I don’t know what possesses me to even want to investigate the dark figure. Normally, I would just turn and run. But something’s pulling me in that direction, and I need to see what it is.

As I step closer, I see the dark figure take shape. The scent still hasn’t come my way, but I can make out that it’s a person lying in the snow. My steps are tentative and slow, and I move closer and closer.

When I realize it’s a woman, my heart starts to beat faster and my steps quicken. What if she’s a shifter in trouble? I don’t know everyone in the pack yet, so this could be a member in distress.

Moving close, I see that her eyes are closed and she’s lying on her back with her arms outstretched. She must not have been here long because not much snow has fallen on her. It’s starting to come down heavier now, and she’s getting a small dusting on her face and body.

She’s got thick black hair and skin the color of cream. Her lips are blood red, and something inside of me is pulling me towards her. I can’t explain the force that makes me go to her, but something inside me knows that I must help her.

Something inside me needs to kiss her. Taste her… Brand her.

I kneel down beside her, and the sound wakes her. Her big eyes pop open, and the blue there strikes me right in the chest. Her eyes are the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. I want to get lost in them and let them carry me away. There’s something about them that’s familiar and safe, but also terrifying and confusing.

A heartbeat passes between us, and for a second I’m pulled back in time to a place I thought I’d left. Fear grips me, but then the woman smiles up at me, and all of that melts away.

“Hi,” she whispers, and I light up at the word. I start to say something back, but at that moment her scent hits me, and I my throat nearly closes up.

She’s human.

Rage pulses through me, and I start to stand. I want to get away from this human as fast as I can, but suddenly I’m dizzy with need. I inhale again, and I feel my bear trying to take over. He’s clawing inside me to get out to roar, but I hold him tight, trying to catch my brain up to my body.

Mate, my bear growls over and over, and I realize that this human is my mate. A human. The one thing in this world that I not only fear but never want to be near again is my mate.

I growl long and low, but the human doesn’t look surprised. She sits up and pushes back from me, but I reach out, snatching her ankle before she can get away.

“Mine,” I say through gritted teeth. I didn’t want this, not like this. But my body has no choice.

“Let me go.” I look into her eyes to see panic there. “Don’t, please. My brothers will worry. I know what you are, please don’t do this.”

The plea for her family pulls at my heart. How many times had I begged to be let free to find my family? How many times had I begged for news of my sister? I feel sadness for her, but then it’s followed by anger. Her kind are the ones that kept me from Winnie. This human is my mate. I have every right to take her from her human people.

“You’re mine now,” I say, pulling her off the ground and throwing her over my shoulder.

“Please let me go. I swear I won’t come back. I’ll never tell anyone.”

As the snow comes down heavier and heavier, I carry her back to my cabin. Our tracks are covered and no one will be able to find us. I’m taking my mate home, and she will get used to it.

“You can’t do this. You can’t take me.” There is so much panic in her voice that I nearly stop and go back, not wanting to upset her.

“I will treat you kindly and no harm will ever come to you as long as I live.” I take a breath and keep walking. “It’s more than your kind ever gave me.”

REVIEW

As with any Alexa Riley book this one is filled with insta love so strong your heart will be lost before a flake of snow even hits the ground. This short and sweet novella has the breeding, shifting and sweet nothings that you’ve grown to love with an Alexa Riley book and that most of their loyal readers cannot live without.

Snow’s past is hanging over her head – she’s finally eighteen and has decided that it’s time to go out into the community. No more hiding from her past as she can’t exactly be forced to go back to her father now that she’s of age. Of course, the ONE TIME she decides to go out, she meets her mate, Koda, and everything starts to get hot and heavy—and not just because he’s a bear shifter.

This book is filled with virginity and sensuality and jealousy (which turns into growly sex, obviously). The stars (and moon) align for these two and they have to push past their…uhhh, pasts, in order to move forward. It’s quick. It’s not complicated. It’s not full of substance. It’s the perfect little ‘forget everything about my life and read’ kind of book!

Review: The Breed – Nora’s Choice by Alice K. Wayne

51cwk74l7ll-_sx331_bo1204203200_

Author: Alice K. Wayne

Book: The Breed – Nora’s Choice

tl;dr recommendation: This is PNR crack. Get it. Love it. READ IT. 5 stars.

Book Summary:

*Warning: This book is the second book in a series, and must be read second. This book contains strong sexual content and graphic violence and is not suitable for persons under 18*

Nora is a fiery independent beauty with an attitude cold enough to freeze any man’s heart. Any Man except Quinn Roberts; the Breed’s newest and most vicious weapon as the war against the Hunters, who is hell bent on making his mate see what their love could be.
With each of them bearing the scars of a brutal past, will the bond they share be enough to heal them, or with war and bloodshed encircling them, will their bond be destroyed before it even has a chance to begin?

Longer Review:

After finishing book one I dove headfirst into Nora’s Choice. Casstiel’s Vow was like an amuse bousche….a little tease – and I WANTED MORE. Thankfully, Alice gave me more. Nora’s Choice is an emotional rollercoaster that left me satiated and more than pleased. Of course, since this is a SERIES, I was also left with questions…BUT I DIGRESS.

Nora’s been through a lot in her existence. She’s a werewolf but not by choice. Which brings up a shit ton of issues for her. She’s been damaged. Hurt. Emotionally cut off. Her standoffish nature isn’t because she was coddled, that’s for damn sure. And then Quinn walks into her life – or, well, technically she meets him in the sewer. Romantic, right? 😉

She may have found her mate, but what she’s really found is the biggest challenge of her life. While she’s not interested in anything having to do with a mate except for maybe the mating, Quinn isn’t discouraged. He’s been through hell too and he sees more in Nora than just a warm body. He sees everything.

Oh shit, get ready. You had your fangs in book one and now it’s time to learn how the werewolves get down. AND IT’S GREAT. I was completely sucked back into The Breed world and was dying for Nora and Quinn to get over their issues and just work is out. I cannot wait to see where this series goes! This is PNR crack. Get it. Love it. READ IT. 5 stars.

Review: The Breed – Casstiel’s Vow by Alice K. Wayne

51mhq4nhexl-_sx331_bo1204203200_

Author: Alice K. Wayne

Book: The Breed – Casstiel’s Vow

tl;dr recommendation: I WANT TO MAKE PARANORMAL BABIES WITH ALICE K. WAYNE. 5 stars!

Book Summary:

*Warning: This book contains strong sexual content and graphic violence, it is not suitable for persons under the age of 18.

After the brutal kidnapping of her brother, Tessa Roberts, a human born with the ability to read other human minds, plunges herself into the dark and mysterious world of the Breed, hell bent on finding him. What she encounters however, is far more than she bargained for. Vampires and werewolves are one race known as the Breed, and are locked in a centuries old war against vicious human Hunters. With the help of Casstiel, the fierce leader of the Breed’s defense team who carries a fiery passion for her, can she find her brother before the war erupts on their doorstep? Or will lies and betrayals end the new life she’s forged for herself, along with the lives of everyone she loves?

Longer Review:

A good friend of mine gave me a paperback of this book because she knows that I LOVE PNR. Especially PNR that has bonding, instalove when you find your mate, tons of sex, and vampires and werewolves. THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL. I mean, Jesus. It’s like my PNR wishes were granted in one series.

Casstiel is a hot, sexy vampire who has been dreaming about an elusive woman for YEARS. He’s never known her name, and has only known her touch. She feels as real to him as any other woman he’s ever slept with – but she’s so much more to him. When the real woman walks into his office he nearly tackles her to the floor and marks her right there.

Yet, she’s human. Not only is she human but she’s looking for her brother who was probably kidnapped by Breed members and is in trouble. Well, fuck. Subtlety and patience has never been in Casstiel’s box of character traits, but he manages to conjure it up for Tessa.

This book has the suspense you expect from a great PNR story, and the heat you crave. The air crackles with sexual tension while the search continues for Tessa’s brother…and the truth. I WANT TO MAKE PARANORMAL BABIES WITH ALICE K. WAYNE. Not kidding. I maybe told her that on the interwebs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This story clutches you hard to the pages and had me racing to read the end. It got me all hot and bothered too. Write all the things, Alice! So excited to find this author and this series! Vampires, werewolves, special powers, shifting, bonding, mating, hot motherfucking sex – YES YES YES YES. Go one-click now. 5 stars!

Review: The Shadow by Sylvain Reynard

25476303

Author: Sylvain Reynard

Book: The Shadow (The Florentine #2)

tl;dr recommendation: heartpounding and heartwarming at the same time. 4.5 stars!

Book Summary:

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Gabriel trilogy comes the hotly anticipated follow-up to The Raven, a sensual novel set in Florence featuring the dangerously intoxicating coupling of Raven and William…

Raven Wood’s vampyre prince has returned, pledging his love and promising justice for every wrong done to her. In the wake of their reunion, Raven is faced with a terrible decision—allow the Prince to wreak vengeance against the demons of her past, or persuade him to stay his hand. But there is far more at stake than Raven’s heart…

A shadow has fallen over the city of Florence. Ispettor Batelli will not rest until he uncovers Raven’s connection to the theft of the priceless art from the Uffizi Gallery. And while the Prince hunts a traitor who sabotages him at every turn, he finds himself the target of the vampyres’ mortal enemy.

As he wages a war on two fronts, he will need to keep his love for Raven secret, or risk exposing his greatest weakness…

Longer Review:

This is a series my friends – a gorgeously written and breathtaking look at the love of William, a vampyre, and Raven, a human – but it is a series. Fair warning.

The Shadow directs your focus to the almost lost love that Raven and William share. While the first book challenged whether William could actually feel things, the second book deals with outside pressures that happen when…well, you are the head of a Vampyre City and you’re hiding the fact that you’re in love with a human.

It’s dangerous for them to keep their relationship, but they continue because they have to be together. They’re compelled to be one. Even though they are infinitely different, they are intrinsically the same. We learn so much more about where William came from; how he became a vampyre; and how he became who he is. Similarly, we learn that Raven isn’t as stubborn as I once thought – that she has a reasoning for her thought process – and that she’s loyal to a fault.

I could write a really long review about how fucking great the writing is, but if you’ve read Sylvain then you already know how great the writing is. It’s not your typical romance novel and I would place it in the Diana Gabaldon category of ‘Good Shit.’ It’s certainly more well suited for a literary reader, but it also crosses across the board for someone who is just looking for a great love story.

This story has that ‘epic’ feeling that makes you want to scream when it’s over. Because sorry – but the story isn’t ACTUALLY over when it’s over. There’s not a huge cliffhanger, so calm yourself. But there’s definitely more to come – which had me dying inside.

The Shadow is oh so worth it. It’s heartpounding and heartwarming at the same time. William and Raven fly to the top of my favorite paranormal couples list! BOOK3 PLEASE! 4.5 stars.

Review: The Raven by Sylvain Reynard

Author: Sylvain Reynard

Book: The Raven (Florentine Series)

Other books in series:

The Prince (A Gabriel’s Inferno/Florentine Series Novella)
The Shadow (Florentine Series)

tl;dr recommendation: The Raven soars with passion and promise. 4.25 stars!

Book Summary:

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Gabriel Series comes a dark, sensual tale of romance in a city shrouded in mystery…

Raven Wood spends her days at Florence’s Uffizi Gallery restoring fine works of Renaissance art. But an innocent walk home after an evening with friends changes her life forever. When she intervenes in the senseless beating of a homeless man, his attackers turn on her, dragging her into an alley. Raven is only semi-conscious when their assault is interrupted by a cacophony of growls followed by her attacker’s screams. Mercifully, she blacks out, but not before catching a glimpse of a shadowy figure who whispers to her…

Cassita vulneratus.

When Raven awakes, she is inexplicably changed. She returns to the Uffizi, but no one recognizes her and more disturbingly, she discovers that she’s been absent an entire week. With no recollection of the events leading up to her disappearance, Raven also learns that her absence coincides with one of the largest robberies in Uffizi history – the theft of a set of priceless Botticelli illustrations. When the baffled police force identifies her as its prime suspect, Raven is desperate to clear her name. She seeks out one of Florence’s wealthiest and elusive men in an attempt to uncover the truth about her disappearance. Their encounter leads Raven to a dark underworld whose inhabitants kill to keep their secrets…

Longer Review:

This book is beautifully written. In true Reynard style this book edges on the realm of literary romance just as it pushes you into the realm of paranormal romance. The prose swept me off my feet and captivated me.

If you’re seeking something light and airy and lots of crotch pounding, then you’re going to be disappointed. This book is heavy on plot and the banging doesn’t commence until the end. Basically, it’s a similar set up as Gabriel’s Inferno: a gorgeous love story built on a foundation of trust and hope.

William is a complex character who struggles with the emotions he isn’t sure he’s supposed to be feeling while Raven’s own stubbornness often can’t save her from herself. They each frustrated me in their own way, but I completely loved them together.

For some reason William is pulled to Raven – he can’t understand it and while he tries to deny it, he has never felt for another the way that he does toward Raven (at least not in his vampyric existence). Raven has her own personal hang ups about her physical appearance and she suffered a traumatic event as a child that has internally scarred her as well. My favorites parts of this story were when each of them accepted the other – not as broken people, but as perfectly formed just for the other.

I may have pictured William as Carlisle from Twilight. I KNOW. I KNOW. This isn’t that – just because there’s blood sucking. I get that. I do. But his physical description just had me picturing Carlisle. I wasn’t complaining – he was hot.

Of course, Raven’s being with William is dangerous for a variety of reasons, the least of which being that William is a vampyre. There are power games at play and human hunters to escape. The push – the pull – the danger and the delight all had me grasping for every morsel of detail I could.

And this book is complex and robust with detail. I was floored with each page and internally fist pumped as the book ended. There’s definitely more to the story, but we’re not left on a cliffhanger – thank fuck for that.

The Raven soars with passion and promise. I’m ready to let The Shadow fall over me! 4.25 stars!

Book Summary:

The final thrilling chapter of the Protect Her serial…

My name is Paige Matthews, and I am supposed to be dead. Riley thinks I’m dead, and that was the reason that he turned dark. Now I have to find him before it’s too late to ever bring him back. When he does, I’m not sure if he’ll be able to live with what he’s done. But I won’t give up on him. Not without one hell of a fight.

My only allies are Viho and Klein, and they don’t trust me. Not with Benjamin’s invisible leash around my neck. Demons. Archangels. It doesn’t matter. I won’t let anyone stand in my way to bring Riley back to the light, even if it means I end up dead in the process.

One way or another, this is the end.

********************
This urban fantasy paranormal adventure unfolds over multiple volumes of approximately 25,000 words each. Due to strong language, this story might not be suitable for younger readers.

The complete Protect Her serial, Parts 1 through 11, are available now.

Longer Review:

I know what you’re going to say. There are 11 parts to this serial: that’s madness. OKAY maybe. yes. it’s slight madness. But it’s really really good paranormal angels & demons madness. And you can buy big chunks of it in box sets! and the story is now officially finished!! SO GO ON ALREADY.

The story is really well written and is the fix to your PNR craving. Book Eleven (i know, we already discussed this, get over it) finally provides us with the answers I’ve been desperately needing. It’s romantic and sweet, while still remaining true to its out of this world plot. Ivy delivers the ending we want with the twists and turns we’ve coming to expect.

At this point in the story Riley is missing – he just watched Eva die and he’s convinced that his attempts to reclaim Paige from Eva’s grasp before her death were unsuccessful. Of course, Paige is alive – this is an HEA people – and Paige is determined to track him down. She has to let him know she’s alive and she needs to bring him back from the dark side before it’s too late.

This paranormal world is so easily believable that you’ll start looking for demons outside of your house and you’ll be ready for angels to descend at a moments notice. Suspense and romance carry this intriguing and page turning serial to its conclusion. I’m a little sad it’s over, but I’m so happy to have been part of this journey. 4.5 stars

Review: Angel Fallen by Jennifer Leighton

Author: Jennifer Leighton

Book: Angel Fallen

tl;dr recommendation: a quick little read full of lots of awesome sex – 3.5 stars!

Book Summary:

When Garon gets the news he’s about to be transferred to a new assignment, his entire world comes crashing down around him, for as a guardian angel, a new charge can only mean one thing.

His Jessie, the girl he’s watched over from the moment of her birth, the human he’d been created to protect, is about to die.

Can he stand by and let her be destroyed? Or will he dare to do the unthinkable.

Dare to fall.

~o0o~

Jessica Martin doesn’t believe in happily ever after. Prince Charming is just a lie bought by starry-eyed women, and she’s far from that anymore.

No man has ever measured up to the one who lives in her imagination. With no real family, just temporary ones that came and went, she’s had few constants in her life, but the make-believe friend from her childhood has always been there for her. Always.

Too bad George isn’t real.

So when a mysterious man rescues her from danger, she can’t help but be suspicious. Her Good Samaritan is blond-haired, blue-eyed, and drop dead gorgeous, the complete embodiment of her perfect man, but he’s more than what he seems. The strange familiarity in his eyes, his touch…it shouldn’t be there.

What is he hiding?

Longer Review:

If guardian angels were real, I’d most definitely want mine to be Garon. Sweet, submissive and yet totally masculine, this angel is the devil in bed. and in a storage room closet. YUM.

Garon has been Jennifer’s guardian angel for her entire life. They were both created on the same day, and thus – he was made for her. However, when he finds out that she’s supposed to die and he’s going to be assigned to someone else he can’t live with that outcome. He makes the choice to become visible to Jennifer & cut ties to all he knows.

I wasn’t totally invested in this story, even though I really tried to be. There’s an extremely long mostly sex scene that takes up most of the book – NOT THAT I’M COMPLAINING – but then after that scene, there wasn’t too much else to the story. I felt that things were wrapped up a bit too quickly and a bit too easily and I had a lot of questions. For example, if Garon was made for Jennifer and created on the same day, aren’t all guardian angels made for their charges? How would it make sense for Garon to be assigned to someone new?

Also, I know I’m being overly practical here and this is a paranormal romance, but Garon has no ID…no social security number…no real skills. What is he going to do for work now that he’s fallen? Am I being too real here? Maybe, but I didn’t feel that this story was so fantastical that I shouldn’t be thinking about those things.

Notwithstanding those issues, the heat is most definitely on point. Jennifer writes those scenes with style and I absolutely enjoyed the slight switch of such a strong and burly man being submissive. The awesome sex and the fun and flirty writing style pushed those stars up for me. Sweet and incredibly romantic, this PNR is a quick little read full of lots of awesome sex. 3.5 stars!

Book Summary:

The time for the showdown with the Goddess Eva has finally arrived. Despite all we’ve gone through, Paige and I are ill-prepared for the fight.

I have no choice but to form an uneasy alliance with the one who brought about Eva’s original downfall in order to pull Paige from Eva’s clutches. Little do I know that Eva has revealed a secret that has Paige on her heels. Nothing is as it seems, and even those we trust the most hide truths that threaten to rip us apart.

I’m fighting to leave the shadows of my past behind while Paige is overwhelmed by hers. Prophesies told are starting to come true, and Paige and I stand at the epicenter of them all.

Longer Review:

I’m convinced that Ivy is trying to kill me slowly. AHHHHHH! *shakes fist*

THIS IS YOUR PNR SERIAL ADDICTION. I’m totally an Ivy junkie.

You might be thinking ‘Heather, really?! You’re telling me to start reading a ten-part serial novella paranormal series?!’

Answer: Yes, I fucking am. & it’s going to be more than ten parts, sooooo, just deal with it.

If you haven’t yet started this series, go grab some snacks, a drink [or twelve], and just schedule yourself a night/day to binge-read your face off. Ivy does not disappoint. She gives you romance, instalove that doesn’t feel like instalove, hot sex, a shit ton of suspense and a world that coexists with our own. This is a series that will keep you guessing and will have you clutching your chest and panting for breath. Ivy makes living in a world of angels and demons seem normal and I’m always amazed at how quickly and immediately I get sucked back into this story.

Speaking of the story, we catch back up with Riley and Paige as they are caught in the fight of their lives. Their love has solidified but we don’t know if it will be enough to keep Eva from possessing Paige’s body. GOOD GOD THE SUSPENSE! Riley is determined not to let the possession take place, but when he enters Paige’s mind determined not to fail, truths are exposed that have Paige making rash decisions that could affect everyone involved for eternity.

Paige and Riley are once again backed into a seemingly insurmountable corner from which I don’t see an escape – but I know Ivy has something at the ready to allow them to duck and run. I’m crossing my fingers for the happy ending that these two so desperately deserve. The cliffhanger here has me anxious and on edge, as per usual…and I’m waiting patiently for lucky number 11 – eeeek! GET INTO THIS, BITCHES. 5 stars!

Review:

A vampirelike soul demon succubus?! Oh sweet fuck, I am totally in. I’m not always drawn to paranormal romance, but this book absolutely did it for me. It’s like an adult twist on Twilight and I loved every second. Armen is not only completely fuckable but he’s also easy to fall in love with. From the second that he catches the sweet scent of his Soul Tie, Ariella, he knows that no other woman will ever satisfy him. However, things are complicated by the fact that he’s there to protect her and her daughter, Katie, from the evil demons that are searching for her.

Ariella’s taken off guard when she first locks eyes with Armen. Her body betrays her by compelling her to draw him closer while her mind is blaring alarms that this is too soon and too fast. Her ex-husband already destroyed her self worth and she is damned if she’s going to let down her walls again for the same thing to happen. Once bitten, twice shy and all that. [hehe].

But the fight within her is short lived. Armen is dedicated to show Ariella that he’s not only the man for her right now, but also forever. He could use his compulsion to seduce her, but he refuses to do so – thus making me fall for him even more. There’s a ton of danger as demons are lurking around ever corner, and an enormous about of sexual tension that bristles in every scene.

This book is a hot and delicious romance full of fangs, demons, angels and a whole lot of sex. KD ties up the loose ends necessary to give you a feeling of completion in this book, but also leaves some questions for other characters, which makes me really excited to see how the storyline will play out. If you’re in the mood to be swept away to another world while staying in this one, Soul Tie Seduction will more than satisfy your craving. 4.5 stars!

Excerpt:

A large piece of her soul rested with him in that bed, a part that would have vanished forever had his prognosis taken a horrible turn. A few weeks ago, she would have never allowed herself to fall this fast for someone. She would have blamed her intense devotion on nothing more than compassion for another human being’s suffering, but despair this rampant went well beyond such a simple explanation. Somehow, Armen Jettison had found the door she’d sealed shut with mistrust and apprehension and ripped the damn thing off its hinges. Once content living a life of loneliness, she now found herself wondering—what if?

What if she accepted this man into her life?

What if she opened her heart to him?

What if she dared to take a risk?

Yes, she lusted for him, desired him with everything in her, his hands on her body, his lips on her skin. Ariella didn’t have an issue accepting Armen into her body. In fact, she wanted him rock hard and buried to the hilt deep inside her. She groaned. Pain riddled her body as if she lived through a ten-car pileup, and still she wanted him to jump out of that bed and take her.

Nope, her sexual desire for him wasn’t up for question. Her issue was the growing adoration warming her very soul, and at the same time, making her shiver with the cold reality that sex wouldn’t be enough.

She wanted more, and it scared her to death.

She covered her face with her hands, shaking her head. The possibility of never seeing Armen again, of walking away from the one man who held her child as his own, who faced a blade twice so she may live, left her with a frosty ache in her chest.

THE RETURN Synopsis:

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.
