Review: Last Kiss by Laurelin Paige

51aardsvb2l-_sx332_bo1204203200_

Author: Laurelin Paige

Book: Last Kiss

tl;dr recommendation: Last Kiss won’t be the last thing I read from Laurelin Paige. 5 stars.

Book Summary:

A GAME OF CAT AND MOUSE FILLED WITH DARK DESIRES AND DANGEROUS SECRETS…

Emily Wayborn has made a decision.

She might not fully trust handsome and deadly Reeve Sallis, but he is the one person that gives her what she needs. With Reeve she can finally be herself. Submitting to him is the only thing keeping her grounded as the rest of her life falls apart. But the hotelier is a master at keeping secrets and as she continues her quest for answers someone is making sure she doesn’t find them.

Time is running out and she is questioning everything she thought she knew about friendship and love. She must now make an impossible choice that will determine if she will survive with her heart…or her life.

Longer Review:

Reading Last Kiss was like holding your breath underwater. You wanted to know how long you could last without coming up for air – and let me tell you, I tested my capacity. If you thought First Touch had you holding on to your seat, Last Kiss has you gasping at every corner while the words sunk into your soul.

By far one of the most mind thrilling books I’ve read, this series is a dark erotic thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. I have to admit though, while Amber drove me absolutely bat shit crazy, so did Emily. GAH EMILY. You will want to shake her harder than you’ve ever wanted to shake a fictional character in your life. She’s sort of like that friend who continues to make bad decisions but who you love and support anyway, because you get her.

Reeve doesn’t leave any doubt to who is the most bad ass, fucking awesome, anti hero in Romancelandia. Although, he turns more into a hero Hero in this book – BUT NO SPOILERS. He’s everything you want him to be. I know I was nervous as hell when I finished First Touch – there are so many questions…so many nuances…so much that can happen with how Laurelin set up this story. And she gives you all the answers. They may not be the answers you want. You may feel the storms of jealousy brew in your stomach and begin to ferment. You may want to obtain a degree in Speed Readers University so that you can just finish the damn thing and get every answer you want.

Regardless of how you feel as to how everything shakes out, Laurelin creates a world of dark desire that I didn’t want to step away from. This book is that word that I hate, but must use here: Unputdownable. Make some time and grab a drink – Last Kiss won’t be the last thing I read from Laurelin Paige. 5 stars.

Synopsis

Jack

For the last ten years, I’ve roamed the globe, captivated by the world around me. I’ve seen the seven wonders and admired sunsets from every continent. I’d lived and loved and that was enough for me. It would have to be.

I was content, satisfied with my collection of experiences . . . until a phone call led me down a road less traveled.

If I’d known my fascination would pique and be forever quenched only a few hundred miles from where my curiosity had been born, I may have never set sail.

Rose

Stripped of the future I’d planned with the love of my life, my family and my career were now all that mattered. I’d lived and loved and that was enough. It would have to be.

I struggled to move forward, to discard the part of me that held out hope for my obliterated heart. But I was bred a romantic, so it was easier said than done.

The chances of being struck by lightning are 1 in 960,000.

The odds of being struck twice are 1 in 9 million.

I risked those odds every minute, often cursing the dark sky, praying for static and a rumble of thunder, but it never came.

No, that second bolt hit me on a clear day.

The Heart can be read as a stand alone but it is HIGHLY recommended you read the first two books in the series first.

REVIEW

God. What a book. Kate delivers a heartwarming and heart wrenching conclusion to Rose’s story in the The Heart and rips yours out in the process. There are books that work their way into your soul, hold you hostage and leave an imprint – The Heart is one of them.

I knew that I wouldn’t be the same after knowing Rose’s story – she was perfect with Grant and Grant was perfect and everything they had was a fairytale story book love…so what happens when that vanishes? What happens when everything you thought you believed in is pulled from your grasp?

Rose isn’t so sure about romance anymore. She knows that she had a once-in-a-lifetime love with Grant and she’s terrified that she’ll never love anyone more than Grant. She’s also terrified that she will. GOD. This book. Totally cried. I mean, not all the way through – I’m not really a crier. But towards the end the feelings snuck up on me, hit me hard and then ran out of my eyes.

The Heart is a must read, hold on to your emotions, GRAB THIS NOW book. #Swooning. 5 stars.

Review: Forbidden by CD Reiss

forbidden-full-fronth

Author: CD Reiss

Book: Forbidden (Songs of Perdition #1-3)

tl;dr recommendation: gritty, raw and gloriously brutal. FIVE STARS.

Book Summary:

Everything about Fiona is forbidden.

She’s a party girl with dark desires.
She’s beautiful, irresponsible, irresistible.

She’s my patient.
I’m her therapist.

I’m past past wanting her. Past possessing her. Past bedding her or protecting her.

I’m willing to be self-destructive, negligent, brave, audacious, and stronger than I ever believed possible.

She’s blunt force trauma to the heart.
And she calls another man Master.
—–

This book contains Kick, Use, and Break from the Perdition Series. It is the ENTIRE STORY with a complete beginning, middle and end.
If you read Kick and Use, Break is easily found in the table of contents, and it’s a full length novel.

Longer Review:

This is a fascinating, cryptic and lyrical ride through Fiona’s fucked up mind. CD Reiss has her own brand of kinky and this falls smack dab in the middle of it.

Dirty sex, rough sex, sensual sex, violative sex, degrading sex – it’s all present and accounted for and it’s all NECESSARY.

Fiona’s crazy. A little bit. We meet her while she’s waking up in a mental hospital and she’s not sure if she murdered or assaulted her Master, Deacon. She’s confused, she’s all over the place, she’s violent, and she’s horny as hell. She meets her therapist Elliot and it’s not the dirty love that you think is going to transpire. Somehow, with all of the crazy going on, the love between Elliot and Fiona is pure – and Fiona can’t handle it. She doesn’t even recognize it.

I was completely on #TeamElliot even though there were times that I adored Deacon. Besides the fact that there were two men, this really didn’t feel like a love triangle to me. I was pushed and pulled so hard and fast in Fiona’s mind that I may have lost sense that there was anything wrong with what she was doing or how she was doing it.

Reiss masters the forbidden and celebrates the taboo. I was completely invested and I didn’t even really like Fiona for most of the book. How fucked up is that?

Forbidden is gritty and gloriously brutal. It will leave you raw, plucking at your emotions just to see them twitch. I adore CD’s writing and her masterful telling of a complexly simple story. This book will twist your mind and spin your soul. If you like the Original Sinners, this is a #MustRead.

Review: First Touch by Laurelin Paige

Author: Laurelin Page

Book: First Touch  (Untitled #1) – coming soon on December 29, 2015

Other book in series:

Last Kiss (Untitled #2) – releasing on June 14, 2016

tl;dr recommendation: total mindfuck. 5 stars. #MustRead. I’ve lost words.

Book Summary:

When Emily Wayborn goes home to visit her mom while on hiatus from her hit TV show, she receives a voicemail from her former best friend, Amber. Though the two were once notorious party girls, they haven’t spoken in years. Although the message might sound benign to anyone else, Amber uses a safe word that Emily recognizes, a word they always used to get out of sticky situations during their wild days. And what’s more chilling than the voicemail: it turns out that Amber has gone missing.

Determined to track down her friend, Emily follows a chain of clues that lead her to the enigmatic billionaire Reeve Sallis, a hotelier known for his shady dealings and play boy reputation. Now, in order to find Amber, Emily must seduce Reeve to learn his secrets and discover the whereabouts of her friend. But as she finds herself more entangled with him, she finds she’s drawn to Reeve for more than just his connection to Amber, despite her growing fear that he may be the enemy. When she’s forced to choose where her loyalty lies, how will she decide between saving Amber and saving her heart?

Longer Review:

holy. FUCK. This book murdered me. Ripped my soul out, slashed it apart and buried it in the woods under the cover of night where I’m not sure it will ever be found – or if it is found if it will identified as the same again.

I was completely drawn to Emily. I wasn’t sure if I liked her in the beginning and then I was wondering how I could ever not like her. She’s strong in such a breakable way – like she’s stretched so tight that she might crack at any moment.

Her relationship with, well, pretty much everyone is complicated and fucked up. She tries to get close to Reeve so that she can find out what, if anything, happened to her former best friend. However, even though she desperately tries to remain aloof, there’s a connection between Reeve and Emily that sparks, flickers, and ignites every single time they’re near each other. It’s so much deeper than your quintessential romance book character connection.

As the investigation gets deeper, the plot line keeps twisting. This book is dark as hell, and I LOVED IT. Emily has serious and twisted issues, but yet she’s still so normal. This beautiful juxtaposition had me clinging to my kindle pages and clawing at the screen when it was over.

Reeve also infiltrated me more than I expected. He’s a fully alpha anti-hero, completely unpredictable, and undeniably dangerous. I was terrified and turned on at the same time.

This book is Laurelin Paige. This is innately her. I’ve read her other books, but THIS ONE is her. I could feel her connection with the story and practically watched her insides being turned into a word count.

I need a cigarette. or twelve. I had to keep picking this up and putting this down and walking away and taking deep breaths because this was affecting me to a point that made me feel wildly uncomfortable and completely exposed in the way that only phenomenal writing can.

Total mindfuck.

I am not above begging for Last Kiss.

He’s infuriating on purpose.

She’s too irresistible when she hates him.

~

The first step in solving a problem is recognizing there’s one to begin with. Here’s mine. My new roommate is a conceited, womanizing jerk. He pushes my buttons and drives me so crazy I want to strangle him daily.

There’s a million reasons why I should stay far away from him, the most obvious of which being that I hate him with the fire of a thousand suns.

Except that I don’t hate him.

I sometimes wonder if this back-and-forth between us is all just pretend. All part of a diversion, a line of defense against the heat we generate whenever we are near each other.

It’s a reckless game we’re playing, treading the edge of an attraction so intense it might as well be a grenade.

REVIEW

The love in this book? It sneaks up on you. It comes out of nowhere and spreads everywhere. It’s the kind of all consuming, barrier breaking, heart warming, skin heating, line crossing love that exploded my heart and scattered my emotions.

Giles and Julia have a love/hate friendship that turns into a love/love friendship that turns into so.much.more. The banter and prank war between them was hilarious, but what really got me was how both of them changed so much in such definable ways by each other without either of them really knowing it.

They each have histories that make them insecure – but Julia isn’t going down without a fight. I absolutely loved the fire and spark within her. She’s exactly the kind of heroine I love: sassy, smart, and seriously silly. Julia’s been drug through the flames of a public humiliation that would have the strongest women cowering, but she’s determined to rise above the ashes of her life. She’s one of those women whose true strength is forged by heat. AND I LOVED HER.

Giles is a current manwhore whose curved grin drops panties without effort. There’s something about the look in Julia’s eyes that draws him in, makes him forget everything that tortures him – everything he’s trying to escape. But by letting her in to the darkest parts of his soul, he didn’t realize that she would fill those spots in a way that no one else ever has.

His struggle to believe in something permanent is beautifully believable and wonderfully worrisome. As the line between them keeps shifting, the tension and heat keeps growing. Their intimacy is this gorgeous gift that we get to peek into while they figure out what exactly they are.

ENAMOR is new adulty without being new adulty. You don’t get a stupid girl who falls apart at the first sign of trouble or a fumbling college boy who does idiotic things with his dick. This book combines the best of contemporary romance with the best of new adult and I could not love it any harder.

Thanks for making me cry, Veronica. If it’s any consolation it was a sweet cry of relief and heart tugging happiness that surprised me. I adore ENAMOR. It had me falling from the very first scene. Best book Veronica’s written to date. hands down. #MustRead

Julia

I walk over to the rack of cue sticks and grab one, testing it out in my hand. It’s been a while since I’ve played pool. After grabbing a second stick, I turn to hand it to Giles and the sight of him sitting on the edge of the pool table, watching me, catches me off guard.

He’s still shirtless, wearing a pair of red swim trunks that fit him too well. I’m used to seeing him this way. He’s always shirtless around the house. I’ve pretty much memorized every inch of his upper body. It’s hard not to, when he’s all compact and lean muscles under smooth skin.

I know he can’t see himself. I know he didn’t plan for the room’s lighting to hit him in just the right way, casting shadows in the hollows of his shoulders, biceps, and abs, accentuating his build. He’s set in a spotlight of sorts, which allows glints of the copper tones in his hair to make his eyes glow as if they’re lit from within.

Damn it.

I stare for too long, but he pretends not to notice and reaches for the second cue stick in my hand.

“Ladies first.” He gestures to the table behind him.

I pass him and, reaching the pool table, I rest my forearms on the edge of it. With careful aim, I lunge my cue stick forward and send the cue ball crashing through, balls scurrying in all directions, three finding their pockets.

“Impressive,” he says, from somewhere behind me, though I could’ve sworn he was off to my left just seconds earlier. “You landed two solids. Looks like I’m stripes.”

I move around to find my next target and as I lean forward to make a strike, a hand lays on the table, centimeters from my waist. The surprise makes me miss my shot, and though I hit the cue ball, it jerks forward only an inch or two.

My skin prickles with awareness as I turn to face Giles. He’s standing right there, face barely six inches from mine. So close I swear he’s about to kiss me. My breath gets trapped in my chest and I’m not sure if I’d stop him.

“Can I tell you something without you getting offended?” he asks, voice just loud enough to reach me.

I nod, unsure how he could say anything that could offend me when he’s standing so close with that look in his eyes.

His gaze moves down my face, to the space between us, to my body, and I hope he doesn’t notice I’m breathing just a little harder than before.

“You have the most beautiful body I’ve ever seen.”

He looks and sounds so genuine that I couldn’t make a joke if I wanted to. Lost for words, I bring my lower lip in between my teeth. And now he’s looking right at my mouth.

My head spins. The air is just so thick all of a sudden and my thoughts are too fast and too slow at the same time.

“Thanks,” I say, looking down at the way his arm stretches out beside me, his grip closing over the edge of the table. If he set his other arm the same way, I’d be trapped between them.

And I realize I’d like that, a lot.

But he doesn’t cage me in. Instead, he brings his hand up to my face and runs a finger over the edge of my forehead, collecting my hair and tucking it behind my ear. He’s never touched me before. His fingertips grazing my face make my heartbeat go off rhythm.

“I came here for a reason,” he says under his breath, almost to himself, “and now I can’t remember what that reason was.”

I feel the same way. My cue stick is still in my hand, the only reminder we came here to play pool, but suddenly the thought of that game isn’t as enticing as standing here so close to him. His hand lowers from my face to my arm, caressing my skin along the way, triggering trickles of sensations that spread across me. His touch is foreign and yet strangely familiar, as though my body has imagined this moment even while my mind has refused to consider it.

“I get the weird feeling you’re hiding your body,” he says. “That you don’t feel comfortable in your skin but…”

“But what?”

He shakes his head. “But I’ve seen your body, Julia. And I swear, I can’t stop thinking about how it’d feel under mine.”

Oh my God.

Did he just say that? The room warms ten degrees in an instant.

“Giles…”

What do I even want to say?

Stop talking. Keep going. Touch me.

My thoughts are turning me in a dozen directions, making it hard for me to know for sure what to say, what to do. My eyes are on his lips, despite not wanting him to spy just how badly his touch and proximity affect me.

“I keep wondering if the curiosity is mutual,” he says, hopeful.

“I can’t say I haven’t thought about it,” I hear myself respond in a voice I barely recognize.

I’ve never seen this look in his eyes. It’s like he’s been pulled under a spell, lids lowering, words slow. His hand comes up again and he brushes his thumb over my bottom lip, pulling it slightly down. I let him.

Desire, hot and thick, spreads wider across his face with each passing second.

“And this mouth? I think about it a lot, too. What it would taste like…what it would feel like…”

My lips part farther as I exhale in surprise.

Is this happening? I wait for the inkling to pull away from him, to stop this before it goes further. But no part of me wants this to stop. The heaviness between my legs makes every other thought in my mind seem so small and trivial. And Giles? I bet he’s anything but.

Review: Camouflage by Angelica Chase

Author: Angelica Chase

Book: Camouflage (Predator and Prey #1)

tl;dr recommendation: I don’t give a shit what you have on your TBR. Clear it off. READ THIS BOOK. 5 STARS.

Book Summary:

I lived my life by two principles: order and excellence.
My moral compass steered me out of the slums of backwoods Tennessee and towards the woman I was destined to become, but not without gathering a few skeletons along the way.

Eventually, I found success, but my restless, relentless nature still left me feeling unsatisfied.

Then I met a ghost.

At first, I was sure Daniello was a figment of my imagination, a beautiful and dangerous apparition with a fat cock and an animalistic hunger. He threatened my control and need for order, and in his absence, I became more haunted by my past.

He wanted me submissive.

I wanted to know him.

Then my ghost met my skeletons.

This is the first book in a series.
If you are not a fan of cursing, erotic, extremely explicit sex, immoral behavior, dysfunction, or sexual scenarios that may make you feel uncomfortable, this is not the series for you.

Longer Review:

Motherfucking EXCEPTIONAL. Camouflage is filthy and raw; gritty and tough. I think I have bruises and I’m fairly certain I just came. Angelica’s writing is phenomenal and this story will grip you so hard you’ll lose your breath. I.AM.IN.LOVE.

“Do you think I am the devil?”
“No…I think you are his greatest creation.”

I really hate comparing authors, but Angelica’s writing reminds me of CD Reiss – incredibly well written prose mixed with rough and delicious sex. Nomnomnomnom. I could eat this up for days.

Taylor has everything together. She’s fought her way out of her dire past, she’s shaken off her skeletons and she has control in everything. She fucks who she wants to fuck, when she wants to fuck them. She gets her work done – on time, every time. She makes an excessive amount of money and she spends it on clothes and cars.

She is this line from Sylvia Plath:

Taylor is as bad ass a woman as they come. She wants to submit sexually, but she hasn’t found a man worthy of her submission…until Daniello.

Daniello is an anti-hero who will fuck you into next week. We have no idea what he does for a living, but we know it’s probably not entirely legal. He has zero boundaries and total control. Taylor’s badassery is only rivaled by Daniello’s. Somehow Taylor keeps finding him sneaking under her carefully guarded heart, and she quickly kicks him out. Perhaps out of her heart, but never out of her bed. Daniello appears as quickly as he disappears, fulfilling Taylor’s every wish, desire and orifice. As Taylor’s past enters her present, she’s forced to face her skeletons – and she may have to involve her ghost.

This is erotica on another level. Hot and sexy doesn’t fully describe these perfectly crafted scenes that will leave you absolutely dripping wet. This book is suspenseful, heated and absolutely perfect. If you don’t like bullets and car chases and public finger fucking, just sit this one out. BUT IF YOU DO – get in & hang on.

The cliffhanger left me needy and vibrating with anger. I thought my eyes were going to fall out with how wide they got. Chase keeps you involved until the very last word. I need book 2 now.

I don’t give a shit what you have on your TBR. Clear it off. READ THIS BOOK.

Release Day Review: Pucked Up by Helena Hunting

Author: Helena Hunting

Book: Pucked Up

tl;dr recommendation: Murphy’s law meets romantic comedy that will have you looking at Yeti’s in a suddenly sexual way. 5 stars – #MustRead.

Book Summary:

Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth, and he was drafted into the NHL during his first year of college. After five years of deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies across the Continental US and parts of Canada, Miller is ready for a girlfriend. A real girlfriend of the non-bunny variety. One he takes on dates and doesn’t jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.

Miller thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike Alex Waters, center, team captain and all round nice guy—who happens to be dating his step-sister—Miller’s manwhore reputation is well earned, and not blown out of proportion by the media. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about having a girlfriend. But he’s determined to make it happen.

What he doesn’t take into account is the amount of time and effort relationships require, or that constantly letting bunnies take selfies with him to post all over social media isn’t going to win him any points in the boyfriend department. Miller learns—not so quickly—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.

Longer Review:

Motherpucking hilarious! Pucked Up is a combination of Murphy’s law meets romantic comedy that will have you looking at Yeti’s in a suddenly sexual way.

We all remember Buck from Pucked – he’s Violet’s stepbrother, teammate of the infamous Alex Waters of MC fame. Buck doesn’t always say the smartest things, but he’s not dumb. He is, however, a puck bunny aficionado. At least he was until he met Alex’s sister, Sunny Waters.

Suddenly the only flavor of the month that he’s craving is granola. Sunny’s a vegan, sort of hippy, but totally sweet girl who still lives with her parents in Canada. While Buck can’t seem to keep himself out of social media nightmares, Sunny’s desperately trying to figure out if she can handle all that comes with being with Buck.

There are so many amazing moments in this book. Each character is developed so well – and I adored that Violet is all over this book. Her sound advice and oversharing demonstrate the perfect brother/sister relationship. Just when you think that the situations can’t get more out of control – they can. It’s so ridiculous, yet so fantastic.

Pucked Up is well done from every angle. Helena writes an engaging story that made me swoon, facepalm and actually laugh out loud. Believable characters twine with intelligent writing, which makes for an easy, fun and perfect read. This is an absolute five star #MustRead. LOVED.

Review: Hard Beat by K. Bromberg

Author: K. Bromberg

Book: Hard Beat (Driven #7)

tl;dr recommendation: angst-ridden, kindle-gripping, scream-inducing deliciousness! 5 stars. #MustRead.

Book Summary:

From the New York Times bestselling author of Sweet Ache comes a blistering new novel filled with danger, secrecy, and a desire that can’t be sated…

Foreign war correspondent Tanner Thomas is addicted to living on the edge. Needing the adrenaline rush of his job to help him cope with a personal loss, he throws himself back into the game, concentrating all his energy on getting the next big story.

But when he meets his new photojournalist, Beaux Croslyn, he can’t help but feel like he’s losing his focus—and maybe risking more…

With secrets she won’t address, Beaux is far from your ordinary woman. Determined to keep her distance, she’s willing to pull Tanner in closer and hide behind the sparks flying between them. But as Beaux’s past begins to put their relationship—and their lives—at risk, Tanner’s determination to find the truth puts them both in jeopardy.

He’s ready to chase her to the ends of the earth to find out if what they had was real, or if the danger surrounding them was just an exquisite heat fated to burn out…

Longer Review:

Bromberg is the Master of Angst and she once again earns her title. Speaking of titles, this one is perfection. There’s a hard beating of hearts as Tanner and Beaux ache to be something that may be a fantasy, the hard beating of blood in their veins as they take each other for the first, the second first, and then maybe the last time, and the hard beating of my head against the wall as truths were uncovered, secrets revealed, and careers were put on the line.

This is angst-ridden, kindle-gripping, scream-inducing deliciousness. Kristy takes you to your breaking point…and just when you think you can’t handle any more, she gives you more. This story is told in Tanner’s point of view, and I LOVED being inside his head. I would have also loved his head to be inside of…*cough* ok. um. yes. back to the review.

Needless to say, Tanner is a sexy beast. If you follow K. Bromberg’s books, you know him as Rylee’s brother (if you don’t follow her books, you need to…like yesterday). He’s the voice of logic, the protective older brother, and one hell of a journalist. He just lost his partner and best friend, Stella, due to the conflict and his job, and those protective instincts flare up to full force once he meets BJ Crosyln, his new photographer and partner.

The problem is that he immediately doesn’t like her. He likes her beauty, he likes her body, he likes her fiery spirit, but yet, there’s just something about her he doesn’t trust. His mind fails to mention that to his dick and a serious conflict arises causing sudden bursts of angry shouting interspersed with clashing tongues and teeth. Beaux is a more than willing participant, but is equally burdened by an instant lust/hate relationship she finds with Tanner.

If you love a good hate fucking, Bromberg delivers fantastic hate fucking. I’ve never wanted to have make up sex more in my life. There are so many secrets being kept that as one falls to the ground, the others start to follow like dominos until Tanner’s heart is left in dire state of emergency. Hit after hit keeps coming, leaving chaos, disaster and maybe….just maybe…a little hope?

Bromberg writes fantastically, as per usual, and weaves a complicated story with ease. Hard Beat is one hell of a ride and an explosion of intense desires, waring needs, gut wrenching emotion and sweet relief. Insert book hangover here. 5 stars. #MustRead.

Longer Review:

Unbelievably romantic and undeniably sexy, Walker & Rogers finished this series with flourish. I didn’t know if I could love Hudson more, but yet there I was, swooning and trying to climb my way inside my kindle.

We pick back up with Allie as she’s frantically trying to make covert moves to protect Hudson from Julian. Hudson, being the awesome man that he is, isn’t fooled. I have never been so thankful for their close connection than in the beginning of this book. I’m trying not to be spoilery, but my heart was jumping out of my chest and I was chewing on a nail while I prayed that the secrets would come to light. Just breathe. It’ll be ok. PROMISE.

The sex is, once again, outstanding. I am now a complete and utter believer in office sex. Sign me the fuck up. But what I love about this series is that while the sex is plentiful (and so freaking hot) this series is about so much more. Hudson’s deep growls, thoughtful planning, and panty-melting smile had my knees weak and my heart swelling.  If you’re looking for a romantic book – you need this series.

Reclaim Me is romance at its finest.

While the focus is always on Hudson – ok, my focus is always on Hudson – let’s not forget about Allie. She is one headstrong heroine and I loved her. She takes control, doesn’t fall into a haze of idiocy and runs that company flawlessly. A million cheers for Allie!

As the danger ratchets higher and higher, and the stakes couldn’t be greater, Allie & Hudson’s love shines the brightest. There are so many incredible moments in this story that you need to experience. From the searing kisses to the holding of hands, every touch, every glance, and every moment between Allie & Hudson is magic. This series swept me away.

Reclaim Me has all the feels, suspense and heat you’ve come to expect from these authors. I want to hug these books so hard. LOVED!

Review: The Air He Breathes by Brittainy C. Cherry

Author: Brittainy C. Cherry

Book: The Air He Breathes (Elements #1)

tl;dr recommendation: You need to read this book. With tissues. And time. And an open heart. #MustRead #AMillionStars

Book Summary:

I was warned about Tristan Cole.

“Stay away from him,” people said.
“He’s cruel.”
“He’s cold.”
“He’s damaged.”

It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.

But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.

We were both empty.
We were both looking for something else. Something more.
We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.

Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.

Longer Review:

I’d give this book a million stars if I could. The Air He Breathes is a breath of fresh air. Which is especially good because it had me gasping for breath at times as I sobbed uncontrollably. This emotional and heartbreaking story found the door to my heart and the line to my tears. I am in love.

Tristan’s wild. Closed. A mere shell of a man whose world was ripped away in an instant. I couldn’t even contemplate his pain, but I felt it. I felt it infiltrate my body like sharp tiny knives begging to be acknowledged. Brittainy does something that many authors cannot – she makes you feel the pain of her characters in a respectful, beautiful and touching way. I not only wanted to see Tristan break free from his past, but I wanted to hold him, look him in the eyes, and tell him he’ll survive.

Elizabeth is an equally powerful character. Her past is similar to Tristan’s, which is what initially connects them. It’s as if they found a piece of themselves in the other. It’s strange how they come together, but then it’s not strange at all. Grief can morph a person into a new creature who takes risks or breaks down without pause.

I don’t want to give away much with this plot because you should experience it with fresh eyes. There is an HEA, but there are twists that get us there that caught me completely off guard. I fell apart as I fell in love with this book and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Air He Breathes has more than all the feels, It grips and hold you, comforts and strangles you. God, I couldn’t do anything BUT feel. There is a reason that Brittainy is rising to the top of the Amazon charts with lightning speed: she can fucking write. This is one of the best books of 2015. #MustRead. Do it. NOW. GO.
