Review: Forbidden by CD Reiss

forbidden-full-fronth

Author: CD Reiss

Book: Forbidden (Songs of Perdition #1-3)

tl;dr recommendation: gritty, raw and gloriously brutal. FIVE STARS.

Book Summary:

Everything about Fiona is forbidden.

She’s a party girl with dark desires.
She’s beautiful, irresponsible, irresistible.

She’s my patient.
I’m her therapist.

I’m past past wanting her. Past possessing her. Past bedding her or protecting her.

I’m willing to be self-destructive, negligent, brave, audacious, and stronger than I ever believed possible.

She’s blunt force trauma to the heart.
And she calls another man Master.
—–

This book contains Kick, Use, and Break from the Perdition Series. It is the ENTIRE STORY with a complete beginning, middle and end.
If you read Kick and Use, Break is easily found in the table of contents, and it’s a full length novel.

Longer Review:

This is a fascinating, cryptic and lyrical ride through Fiona’s fucked up mind. CD Reiss has her own brand of kinky and this falls smack dab in the middle of it.

Dirty sex, rough sex, sensual sex, violative sex, degrading sex – it’s all present and accounted for and it’s all NECESSARY.

Fiona’s crazy. A little bit. We meet her while she’s waking up in a mental hospital and she’s not sure if she murdered or assaulted her Master, Deacon. She’s confused, she’s all over the place, she’s violent, and she’s horny as hell. She meets her therapist Elliot and it’s not the dirty love that you think is going to transpire. Somehow, with all of the crazy going on, the love between Elliot and Fiona is pure – and Fiona can’t handle it. She doesn’t even recognize it.

I was completely on #TeamElliot even though there were times that I adored Deacon. Besides the fact that there were two men, this really didn’t feel like a love triangle to me. I was pushed and pulled so hard and fast in Fiona’s mind that I may have lost sense that there was anything wrong with what she was doing or how she was doing it.

Reiss masters the forbidden and celebrates the taboo. I was completely invested and I didn’t even really like Fiona for most of the book. How fucked up is that?

Forbidden is gritty and gloriously brutal. It will leave you raw, plucking at your emotions just to see them twitch. I adore CD’s writing and her masterful telling of a complexly simple story. This book will twist your mind and spin your soul. If you like the Original Sinners, this is a #MustRead.

Review: Midnight Mass by Sierra Simone

26878521

Author: Sierra Simone

Book: Midnight Mass (Priest #1.5)

Other book in series:

Priest (Priest #1)

tl;dr recommendation: this novella suckerpunched me and left me breathless – and with so much hope. 5 stars!

Book Summary:

We are told that God will punish the wicked. That sinful men will reap what they sow. We are told to scourge our souls with prayer and pain to become clean once again.

Well, here I am. Wicked and sinful. Desperate to become clean…even though it feels so good to be dirty.

But even I never expected what came next.

Even I never expected my punishment to come so soon.

***Midnight Mass is a novella and a sequel to Priest. It’s intended for mature audiences only.***

Longer Review:

Once again Sierra has gathered up my emotions and shoved them into what feels like the smallest space of my heart, holding them captive, letting them bash into each other and move faster and faster until the point of pain – until the point that I think that may heart may just fucking burst – and then she releases them allatonce and I swear to fuck that they made the ‘whoosh’ sound and everything as they rushed out into the night.

This is not a fluffy and lighthearted book.

This is not a smiley skipping in a field of wildflowers book.

This is a raw insight into Poppy and Father Bell at their worst – and at their best. It’s the dark clashing with the light, it’s selfishness clashing with selflessness, it’s about what happens when everything breaks and feels hopeless and how those pieces can find their way back together. It’s about appreciating the littlest things in your partner, and holding them tight in your grasp. I ADORED THIS NOVELLA.

It’s not always happily ever after. When the pages shut and the days continue, life can sometimes get in the way of those gorgeous moments in time that make everything right. Tyler is in mid-dissertation and he’s pretty freaking distracted. Of course, Poppy’s been working hard as well to create The Perfect Event. This left not a lot of time for talking and a lot more time for longing. You can feel them start to slip from each other – you can feel the hot knife of jealousy shoved through Tyler’s chest and the burning flames of guilt eat him alive for every moment he’s not spending with Poppy. It’s gloriously honest and frighteningly accurate.

There are, of course, hot as sin scenes that will leave you thinking you’re in heaven. The raw and sometimes emotionally (and occasionally physically) brutal scenes filled the gaping need I had for these two. Sierra writes some of the most beautifully blasphemous scenes I have ever read. *drools*

I inhaled Sierra’s words like I’ve been fasting for days. Beautiful and deep, this novella suckerpunched me and left me breathless – and with so much hope. 5 stars!

Review

Lila is my brand of humor. Every time I read her books it’s like the sarcasm flows just a little more freely afterwards…and well, if you know me then you know that that’s pretty impressive. Like monumentally impressive. Almost as impressive as Ace’s large and beautiful….winter lodge. Ok, he has a nice package too. and by package I mean dick.

see. that’s lila’s fault. you can blame her for those last few sentences.

Snowed In thrust me into a winter wonderland of happiness and romance and hilarity. I was thrilled to read about Paige – the perfect sister – and I found I actually liked her. Like Lila’s other heroine’s she has a strong voice and a stronger backbone. Except when Ace is whispering in her ear or licking down her chest or eating her….perfectly prepared dinner. *snort* I DID IT AGAIN. #sorrynotsorry.

Paige is trying to start up her event planning business. She’s a bit of a perfectionist and she’s desperate to make a name for herself – I mean, she’d really rather not go back to planning dog parties. She will. But she really doesn’t want to.

Of course the owner of the winter lodge that booked her next party is Ace. And of course he’s a bit of a playboy and a lot of a tease. But they are so freaking cute together that I wanted to shove them against each other for every bit of this book.

god I love lila. and her books. and the smiling that they induce. This novella is a short, simple & happy story that will warm you up from the inside out. 5 stars!

Excerpt

I give a very theatrical, hopefully convincing yawn. “Wow, it’s late and I’m beat. Time for bed.” I click off the television as Ace stands and helps me to my feet.He doesn’t let go of my hand. We’re close enough that I can feel heat radiating from his body. I breathe in the scent of him, pine and snow. He’s only wearing a thin black tee shirt, and I’m pretty sure I can pick out the definition of every part of his body.

He still hasn’t let go of my hand. Lightly, he runs his thumb across my palm.

“I don’t know if you got the full tour of the house. Best thing about it, in my opinion, is the spa hot tub. It’s just outside.”

“Oh?” I should take my hand away, but my body won’t do what I tell it. “It’s a little cold out there, isn’t it?”

“Once you’re in, you won’t even notice. I’m planning on a midnight soak.” He pulls me a little closer, mischief in his expression. “Why don’t you join me?”

“I.” There’s nothing I can say that’ll make sense. Ace grins. It’s a wicked smile, that’s the only way to describe it. “I don’t think I should,” I manage. “There’s a perfectly functional tub in my bathroom, anyway. So. I’ll just take a raincheck. On the hot tub.”

“You don’t want to try it?” He lets go of my hand and touches my face. “Or is it that you’re afraid of me?” He trails his fingertips across my cheek. “Which is it? Door one or two? One of them leads to a fabulous destination vacation.” His voice drops to a lower register. A sexy one. “You should loosen up, party planner. It’s just hot water. And I promise you’ll still be your tough and capable self afterward.”

My breath hitches in my throat. I’m almost ready to say something stupid, like ‘I don’t have a bathing suit’ or ‘which way to the pitch black snowy outdoors?’ when common sense crashes through the window to truss me up, sling me over its shoulder, and race away.

“It’s going to be a long day tomorrow. I should get some sleep. Good night.” I break away from him as not-awkwardly as possible and head upstairs. I have to stop halfway up, though, and lean against the railing and close my eyes. My heart is still racing, and all the heat in my body has pooled, not so unwelcomely, between my legs.

I told the truth—I do have to grab a shower and go to bed. But the thought of Ace out there in the hot tub, stripped down, his muscles relaxing under the beat of the jets…

I’ll probably need to make it a cold shower.

Review: Undeniably Asher by K.L. Kreig

26637321

Author: K.L. Kreig

Book: Undeniably Asher (The Calloway Brothers #2)

Other book in series:

Forsaking Gray (The Calloway Brothers #1)

tl;dr recommendation:

Book Summary:

Book 2 in the The Colloway Brothers series. Each book can be read as a standalone.

Memories.
When does our past stop picking at our scars and start letting them heal?

Scars.
Can we see beyond our wounds to the possibilities the future holds?

Possibilities.
How do we let ourselves become vulnerable enough to trust the love that’s right in front of us?

Fate. She’s a fickle, wily bitch that slaps us in the face every opportunity she gets. Sometimes it’s a taunt, but sometimes it’s a goddamn wake-up call to pay attention. Take what’s rightfully yours without shame or apology. So when destiny put me straight in Alyse Kingsley’s path once again, I knew this was one slap I wasn’t ignoring. I’d let her get away once. I wouldn’t again. She was mine and I was takin’ her, kicking and screaming if need be.

Alyse ~ Deceit and betrayal. Every single person who was supposed to love me committed one of these.
My mother.
My father.
My sister.
My lover.
Incapable of letting people see the real me, I hold them at arm’s length. But Asher Colloway is relentless and it doesn’t take long before I cave to his pursuits. The big question is: can I let him in where it counts most? Before ghosts from my past come back to haunt me in ways I can’t possibly fathom? Before it’s too late?

Asher ~ Trust. Forgiveness. Impossible concepts, having been fucked over by a woman I’d loved before. But those aren’t my only personality flaws.
I’m possessive.
I’m jealous.
I’m dominant.
I have a secret kink.
I want Alyse. All of her. She shows people the shiny, untainted surface. I want the murky, damaged depth. The shadows. I want in all the way. Just when I think I’ve made it, fate cruelly bitch-slaps me again. And this time I don’t see it coming. The question now is: what am I willing to do to keep the woman I love by my side? And can Alyse accept me the way I am, faults and all?

Longer Review:

I’m feeling a little bit of awe and a whole lot of love right now. Asher is PERFECTION. Let the alpha male wash over you, ladies. His growly demands will leave you weak in the knees and even his sad attempts to rein in his jealousy left me swooning. However what will have you pushing your thighs together to try to alleviate your sudden need is Asher’s instant vulnerability and heartstopping devotion.

Oh hi, I’m in love with Asher Calloway.

Alsye is also in the book. In fact, she’s a huge part of the book. And I really really liked her a lot. She’s funny and smart, but she can’t help but feel that everyone is leaving her. I mean, she went through an awful tragedy when she was eighteen – one that would shape the rest of her life – and that one moment tore open every wound of abandonment that she ever picked at.

Years later, Alyse has managed to create a fantastic life for herself. She has her own company and she’s determined to make it – on her own. But when Asher steps back into her personal bubble she’s not sure if she can even speak. He washes away every thought in her head and lights her body on fire. But Asher has always been a manwhore – and Alyse is not interested in being a notch on his bedpost.

Alyse and Asher together will get you so drunk on lust you’ll need to join AA. Those scenes are out of control hot and insatiably delicious. KL Kreig can write fucking. She can also fucking write. I adored this book from start to finish and devoured each word like it was going to be the last.

AND THEN THAT TWIST. holyfuckingshit. I mean, holy Jesus fuck. I mean. ugh. ok. I don’t have a phrase to describe it that doesn’t end in a string of expletives. As far as twists and turns, this one will hold you to the burner while you watch Alyse’s life simultaneously explode in joy and implode in fear. That smart and sassy girl just has to hold on to her secrets until she’s risking everything she’s so desperate to protect.

Erotic, sensual, romantic, sweet, AND OH SO DIRTY. Undeniably Asher is undeniably fantastic. 5 stars!

Review: First Touch by Laurelin Paige

Author: Laurelin Page

Book: First Touch  (Untitled #1) – coming soon on December 29, 2015

Other book in series:

Last Kiss (Untitled #2) – releasing on June 14, 2016

tl;dr recommendation: total mindfuck. 5 stars. #MustRead. I’ve lost words.

Book Summary:

When Emily Wayborn goes home to visit her mom while on hiatus from her hit TV show, she receives a voicemail from her former best friend, Amber. Though the two were once notorious party girls, they haven’t spoken in years. Although the message might sound benign to anyone else, Amber uses a safe word that Emily recognizes, a word they always used to get out of sticky situations during their wild days. And what’s more chilling than the voicemail: it turns out that Amber has gone missing.

Determined to track down her friend, Emily follows a chain of clues that lead her to the enigmatic billionaire Reeve Sallis, a hotelier known for his shady dealings and play boy reputation. Now, in order to find Amber, Emily must seduce Reeve to learn his secrets and discover the whereabouts of her friend. But as she finds herself more entangled with him, she finds she’s drawn to Reeve for more than just his connection to Amber, despite her growing fear that he may be the enemy. When she’s forced to choose where her loyalty lies, how will she decide between saving Amber and saving her heart?

Longer Review:

holy. FUCK. This book murdered me. Ripped my soul out, slashed it apart and buried it in the woods under the cover of night where I’m not sure it will ever be found – or if it is found if it will identified as the same again.

I was completely drawn to Emily. I wasn’t sure if I liked her in the beginning and then I was wondering how I could ever not like her. She’s strong in such a breakable way – like she’s stretched so tight that she might crack at any moment.

Her relationship with, well, pretty much everyone is complicated and fucked up. She tries to get close to Reeve so that she can find out what, if anything, happened to her former best friend. However, even though she desperately tries to remain aloof, there’s a connection between Reeve and Emily that sparks, flickers, and ignites every single time they’re near each other. It’s so much deeper than your quintessential romance book character connection.

As the investigation gets deeper, the plot line keeps twisting. This book is dark as hell, and I LOVED IT. Emily has serious and twisted issues, but yet she’s still so normal. This beautiful juxtaposition had me clinging to my kindle pages and clawing at the screen when it was over.

Reeve also infiltrated me more than I expected. He’s a fully alpha anti-hero, completely unpredictable, and undeniably dangerous. I was terrified and turned on at the same time.

This book is Laurelin Paige. This is innately her. I’ve read her other books, but THIS ONE is her. I could feel her connection with the story and practically watched her insides being turned into a word count.

I need a cigarette. or twelve. I had to keep picking this up and putting this down and walking away and taking deep breaths because this was affecting me to a point that made me feel wildly uncomfortable and completely exposed in the way that only phenomenal writing can.

Total mindfuck.

I am not above begging for Last Kiss.

Review

Well hello there miles haas. Another manwhore bites the dust…or rather commits his cock to one woman forever. and I was more than happy to hang on for this funny, outlandish and hot as hell ride.

This is the part where I tell you that this was my very first Melanie Harlow book and then duck while you throw all the things at me. I’m a little late to this party. I know. SORRY. No really, I’m sorry, because Melanie can fucking write. The dialogue is on point, the sex is out-fucking-standing, and the connection to the characters and between them was believable and complex.

The story flowed off the pages in a way that not all do – I was laughing with Natalie and her sisters from the beginning as they get white girl wasted and then do what any other twenty-something sisters would do: get a psychic reading. Duh. This scene was laugh worthy and a great introduction to each sister – if you’ve read her first book, I image that you would know a little about each of them, but since I hadn’t (yea yea yea I KNOW), it was a perfect introduction.

Now Natalie is dating Dan. She’s been dating him for ten years. She’s pretty sure they’re going to get married. I mean, she’s planned for it. They’re comfortable. It’s fine. Or is it? Truth be told, I hate love triangle and cheating books, so my stomach started swirling when I found out Natalie was already in a relationship when Miles reappeared into her life, but I really need to grow the fuck up and trust authors. It’s all ok. PROMISE.

Oh but Miles. Let’s talk about sex blog author/writer, dirty talking, sweet and sinful MILES. Yes, let’s. First of all, I was so fucking excited that Miles writes a blog about sex. Because I mean, I sort of do too. I immediately felt at home with him – HE IS MY PEOPLE. He loves taking and giving good innuendo – and he mostly loves Natalie, even though he isn’t ready to admit it yet.

M&N just fit. They’re easy going, deliciously sexy, full of double entendres and awash with lighthearted banter. It’s when things get serious when they falter – because can a manwhore really change his dick’s ways? And would Natalie even want him to?

Before we get to the heavy stuff, we need to talk about that closet sex scene. The one that made me want to go and buy a bottle of kentucky whiskey and hand it to my husband with uhhhh other stuff and tell him to go to town. Don’t think I won’t do it. It may be happening. Harlow’s sex scenes are incredibly descriptive & dirty as fuck; which means your hips may involuntarily start grinding of their own accord. #ithappens.

In case you weren’t sure, this is an absolute five star read for me – and the first of many Melanie Harlow books. Airy, sweet, & delightfully swoon worthy, Some Sort of Crazy made me all kinds of happy. LOVED.

Synopsis round.jpg

He’s infuriating on purpose.

She’s too irresistible when she hates him.

~

The first step in solving a problem is recognizing there’s one to begin with. Here’s mine. My new roommate is a conceited, womanizing jerk. He pushes my buttons and drives me so crazy I want to strangle him daily.

There’s a million reasons why I should stay far away from him, the most obvious of which being that I hate him with the fire of a thousand suns.

Except that I don’t hate him.

I sometimes wonder if this back-and-forth between us is all just pretend. All part of a diversion, a line of defense against the heat we generate whenever we are near each other.

It’s a reckless game we’re playing, treading the edge of an attraction so intense it might as well be a grenade.

REVIEW

The love in this book? It sneaks up on you. It comes out of nowhere and spreads everywhere. It’s the kind of all consuming, barrier breaking, heart warming, skin heating, line crossing love that exploded my heart and scattered my emotions.

Giles and Julia have a love/hate friendship that turns into a love/love friendship that turns into so.much.more. The banter and prank war between them was hilarious, but what really got me was how both of them changed so much in such definable ways by each other without either of them really knowing it.

They each have histories that make them insecure – but Julia isn’t going down without a fight. I absolutely loved the fire and spark within her. She’s exactly the kind of heroine I love: sassy, smart, and seriously silly. Julia’s been drug through the flames of a public humiliation that would have the strongest women cowering, but she’s determined to rise above the ashes of her life. She’s one of those women whose true strength is forged by heat. AND I LOVED HER.

Giles is a current manwhore whose curved grin drops panties without effort. There’s something about the look in Julia’s eyes that draws him in, makes him forget everything that tortures him – everything he’s trying to escape. But by letting her in to the darkest parts of his soul, he didn’t realize that she would fill those spots in a way that no one else ever has.

His struggle to believe in something permanent is beautifully believable and wonderfully worrisome. As the line between them keeps shifting, the tension and heat keeps growing. Their intimacy is this gorgeous gift that we get to peek into while they figure out what exactly they are.

ENAMOR is new adulty without being new adulty. You don’t get a stupid girl who falls apart at the first sign of trouble or a fumbling college boy who does idiotic things with his dick. This book combines the best of contemporary romance with the best of new adult and I could not love it any harder.

Thanks for making me cry, Veronica. If it’s any consolation it was a sweet cry of relief and heart tugging happiness that surprised me. I adore ENAMOR. It had me falling from the very first scene. Best book Veronica’s written to date. hands down. #MustRead

Julia

I walk over to the rack of cue sticks and grab one, testing it out in my hand. It’s been a while since I’ve played pool. After grabbing a second stick, I turn to hand it to Giles and the sight of him sitting on the edge of the pool table, watching me, catches me off guard.

He’s still shirtless, wearing a pair of red swim trunks that fit him too well. I’m used to seeing him this way. He’s always shirtless around the house. I’ve pretty much memorized every inch of his upper body. It’s hard not to, when he’s all compact and lean muscles under smooth skin.

I know he can’t see himself. I know he didn’t plan for the room’s lighting to hit him in just the right way, casting shadows in the hollows of his shoulders, biceps, and abs, accentuating his build. He’s set in a spotlight of sorts, which allows glints of the copper tones in his hair to make his eyes glow as if they’re lit from within.

Damn it.

I stare for too long, but he pretends not to notice and reaches for the second cue stick in my hand.

“Ladies first.” He gestures to the table behind him.

I pass him and, reaching the pool table, I rest my forearms on the edge of it. With careful aim, I lunge my cue stick forward and send the cue ball crashing through, balls scurrying in all directions, three finding their pockets.

“Impressive,” he says, from somewhere behind me, though I could’ve sworn he was off to my left just seconds earlier. “You landed two solids. Looks like I’m stripes.”

I move around to find my next target and as I lean forward to make a strike, a hand lays on the table, centimeters from my waist. The surprise makes me miss my shot, and though I hit the cue ball, it jerks forward only an inch or two.

My skin prickles with awareness as I turn to face Giles. He’s standing right there, face barely six inches from mine. So close I swear he’s about to kiss me. My breath gets trapped in my chest and I’m not sure if I’d stop him.

“Can I tell you something without you getting offended?” he asks, voice just loud enough to reach me.

I nod, unsure how he could say anything that could offend me when he’s standing so close with that look in his eyes.

His gaze moves down my face, to the space between us, to my body, and I hope he doesn’t notice I’m breathing just a little harder than before.

“You have the most beautiful body I’ve ever seen.”

He looks and sounds so genuine that I couldn’t make a joke if I wanted to. Lost for words, I bring my lower lip in between my teeth. And now he’s looking right at my mouth.

My head spins. The air is just so thick all of a sudden and my thoughts are too fast and too slow at the same time.

“Thanks,” I say, looking down at the way his arm stretches out beside me, his grip closing over the edge of the table. If he set his other arm the same way, I’d be trapped between them.

And I realize I’d like that, a lot.

But he doesn’t cage me in. Instead, he brings his hand up to my face and runs a finger over the edge of my forehead, collecting my hair and tucking it behind my ear. He’s never touched me before. His fingertips grazing my face make my heartbeat go off rhythm.

“I came here for a reason,” he says under his breath, almost to himself, “and now I can’t remember what that reason was.”

I feel the same way. My cue stick is still in my hand, the only reminder we came here to play pool, but suddenly the thought of that game isn’t as enticing as standing here so close to him. His hand lowers from my face to my arm, caressing my skin along the way, triggering trickles of sensations that spread across me. His touch is foreign and yet strangely familiar, as though my body has imagined this moment even while my mind has refused to consider it.

“I get the weird feeling you’re hiding your body,” he says. “That you don’t feel comfortable in your skin but…”

“But what?”

He shakes his head. “But I’ve seen your body, Julia. And I swear, I can’t stop thinking about how it’d feel under mine.”

Oh my God.

Did he just say that? The room warms ten degrees in an instant.

“Giles…”

What do I even want to say?

Stop talking. Keep going. Touch me.

My thoughts are turning me in a dozen directions, making it hard for me to know for sure what to say, what to do. My eyes are on his lips, despite not wanting him to spy just how badly his touch and proximity affect me.

“I keep wondering if the curiosity is mutual,” he says, hopeful.

“I can’t say I haven’t thought about it,” I hear myself respond in a voice I barely recognize.

I’ve never seen this look in his eyes. It’s like he’s been pulled under a spell, lids lowering, words slow. His hand comes up again and he brushes his thumb over my bottom lip, pulling it slightly down. I let him.

Desire, hot and thick, spreads wider across his face with each passing second.

“And this mouth? I think about it a lot, too. What it would taste like…what it would feel like…”

My lips part farther as I exhale in surprise.

Is this happening? I wait for the inkling to pull away from him, to stop this before it goes further. But no part of me wants this to stop. The heaviness between my legs makes every other thought in my mind seem so small and trivial. And Giles? I bet he’s anything but.

Review: Seduce Me by J. Kenner

Author: J. Kenner

Book: Seduce Me (Stark Trilogy #3.8)

Other books in series:

Release Me (Stark Trilogy #1)
Claim Me (Stark Trilogy #2)
Complete Me (Stark Trilogy #3)
Take Me (Stark Trilogy #3.5)
Have Me (Stark Trilogy #3.6)
Play My Game (Stark Trilogy #3.7)

tl;dr recommendation: fun and playful and incredibly erotic – 5 stars!

Book Summary:

I’ve never felt as close to anyone as I have with Damien Stark. I know every line of his body, every secret within his soul. There’s nothing I crave more than his touch, and with his kiss, he seals his claim.

Las Vegas is the perfect place for us, where we can indulge every desire and fantasy. But when someone from my past resurfaces, I can’t ignore my instinct that I have to make things right.

With Damien by my side, I feel safe no matter the danger. Our passion protects us, drives us, makes us whole. His pleasure is an exquisite game, and one that I’ll play forever.

Longer Review:

Let the seduction begin! Who doesn’t love a little role play in their marriage? Damien and Nikki are experts at playing the part, playing hard to get and playing to win. A little Vegas trip sets the stage for their charade but when a person from Nikki’s past makes an appearance, the curtains swing closed.

Kenner gives us more of the Starks who we so desperately love and pairs them with a little bit of drama that the story needs. These are two of my favorite characters EVER and I was so happy to see them back in action – and I mean that just how it sounds.

I was satisfied, seduced and warmed right back up. Damien can play with me – anytime, anywhere. This novella is fun and playful and incredibly erotic. Loved!

 REVIEW:

I love me some Brando. Hawkins turns up the volume in the conclusion to this serial – angst meets love, trust builds into hope and Brando’s cock once again finds its home. SIGH. all is right with my world.

Brando knows he made a huge mistake. He made a bet that he knew he could win, but that he ultimately lost. Now that Haley knows she has not interest in letting Brando back in – I mean, how can she possibly trust that everything they shared wasn’t a lie? And then just when there’s a sliver of hope and the trust starts be be rebuilt, another secret is revealed that will test the already tenuous string holding their relationship together.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. The banter is great, but Haley’s refusal to give in to Brando and serving him a taste of his own game was even better. I am always a huge huge fan of women who have sass and a voice, and Haley sings hers loudly on and off the stage.

There are also some tender moments that took me by surprise. The characters here are valued and molded into people you want to love. For as hard and brash as Brando is on the outside, we’re let inside in part 2 and I loved what I found. He’s believably devastated over how his relationship with Haley has flipped on its head and undeniably vulnerable as he tries to win her back. He’s still hot as fuck.

Hawkins spins you around like a record, toying with your emotions for longer than a four minute track but leaving with you a wicked smile on your face. There is no doubt that the crowd will cheer for this series and I am happily in the front row screaming until I have Party Girl Voice. This series is fun, flirty and just fucking fun. 5 stars!

Review: Camouflage by Angelica Chase

Author: Angelica Chase

Book: Camouflage (Predator and Prey #1)

tl;dr recommendation: I don’t give a shit what you have on your TBR. Clear it off. READ THIS BOOK. 5 STARS.

Book Summary:

I lived my life by two principles: order and excellence.
My moral compass steered me out of the slums of backwoods Tennessee and towards the woman I was destined to become, but not without gathering a few skeletons along the way.

Eventually, I found success, but my restless, relentless nature still left me feeling unsatisfied.

Then I met a ghost.

At first, I was sure Daniello was a figment of my imagination, a beautiful and dangerous apparition with a fat cock and an animalistic hunger. He threatened my control and need for order, and in his absence, I became more haunted by my past.

He wanted me submissive.

I wanted to know him.

Then my ghost met my skeletons.

This is the first book in a series.
If you are not a fan of cursing, erotic, extremely explicit sex, immoral behavior, dysfunction, or sexual scenarios that may make you feel uncomfortable, this is not the series for you.

Longer Review:

Motherfucking EXCEPTIONAL. Camouflage is filthy and raw; gritty and tough. I think I have bruises and I’m fairly certain I just came. Angelica’s writing is phenomenal and this story will grip you so hard you’ll lose your breath. I.AM.IN.LOVE.

“Do you think I am the devil?”
“No…I think you are his greatest creation.”

I really hate comparing authors, but Angelica’s writing reminds me of CD Reiss – incredibly well written prose mixed with rough and delicious sex. Nomnomnomnom. I could eat this up for days.

Taylor has everything together. She’s fought her way out of her dire past, she’s shaken off her skeletons and she has control in everything. She fucks who she wants to fuck, when she wants to fuck them. She gets her work done – on time, every time. She makes an excessive amount of money and she spends it on clothes and cars.

She is this line from Sylvia Plath:

Taylor is as bad ass a woman as they come. She wants to submit sexually, but she hasn’t found a man worthy of her submission…until Daniello.

Daniello is an anti-hero who will fuck you into next week. We have no idea what he does for a living, but we know it’s probably not entirely legal. He has zero boundaries and total control. Taylor’s badassery is only rivaled by Daniello’s. Somehow Taylor keeps finding him sneaking under her carefully guarded heart, and she quickly kicks him out. Perhaps out of her heart, but never out of her bed. Daniello appears as quickly as he disappears, fulfilling Taylor’s every wish, desire and orifice. As Taylor’s past enters her present, she’s forced to face her skeletons – and she may have to involve her ghost.

This is erotica on another level. Hot and sexy doesn’t fully describe these perfectly crafted scenes that will leave you absolutely dripping wet. This book is suspenseful, heated and absolutely perfect. If you don’t like bullets and car chases and public finger fucking, just sit this one out. BUT IF YOU DO – get in & hang on.

The cliffhanger left me needy and vibrating with anger. I thought my eyes were going to fall out with how wide they got. Chase keeps you involved until the very last word. I need book 2 now.

I don’t give a shit what you have on your TBR. Clear it off. READ THIS BOOK.
