Author: Meghan March

Book: Beneath this Mask (Beneath #1)

tl;dr recommendation: it plastered a smile on my face and left a permanent impression. 5 stars!

Book Summary:

He loves me, and he doesn’t even know my real name.

The limelight that follows him could expose everything I’m hiding. But even knowing the risks, I can’t force myself to stay away.

I’m going to break his heart, but mine will shatter right along with it.

Will we lose it all when I reveal what’s beneath this mask?

Longer Review:

There’s a reason that Meghan is one of my favorites and this book exemplifies them all: 1) sexy, determined man; 2) smart as fuck woman; 3) refusal to cower to stereotypes; 4) perfectly planned drama; 5) believable plotline; and 6) effortless writing.

It’s hard to believe that this was Meghan’s first book – but it was, and it’s fucking fantastic. This book made me want to run out and get another tattoo and then defy the world’s judgment while discussing some highly intellectual topic. It also made want to climb Simon like a tree and kiss him silly every time he practiced restraint in denying his own instant pleasure in order to focus on his end goal.

Charlie is hiding. She’s hiding from herself, her past, and what could be her future if her past catches up to her. She may have been raised in the lap of luxury, but her job in a tattoo parlor and her teeny apartment in downtown New Orleans are a far cry from her roots. She’s earned everything herself and she plans to keep it that way. So when Simon, a man who looks too much like her past, starts to show interest in her she immediately gives him the old ‘fuck off’ speech.

Luckily, Simon’s not deterred. While Charlie may not be willing to let Simon in completely, he’s more than willing to wait. That’s what I loved the most about this book – it was the determination and understanding that Simon gave to Charlie when he really didn’t have to do either.

Of course, the awesome sex and cork popping chemistry also places this book as one of my favorites. I have so much love for Beneath This Mask – it plastered a smile on my face and left a permanent impression. 5 stars!

Review: Big Rock by Lauren Blakely

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00074]

Author: Lauren Blakely

Book: Big Rock

tl;dr recommendation: Big Rock is big fun! 4.5 stars!

Book Summary:

It’s not just the motion of the ocean, ladies. It’s definitely the SIZE of the boat too.

And I’ve got both firing on all cylinders. In fact, I have ALL the right assets. Looks, brains, my own money, and a big cock.

You might think I’m an asshole. I sound like one, don’t I? I’m hot as sin, rich as heaven, smart as hell and hung like a horse.

Guess what? You haven’t heard my story before. Sure, I might be a playboy, like the NY gossip rags call me. But I’m the playboy who’s actually a great guy. Which makes me one of a kind.

The only trouble is, my dad needs me to cool it for a bit. With conservative investors in town wanting to buy his flagship Fifth Avenue jewelry store, he needs me not only to zip it up, but to look the part of the committed guy. Fine. I can do this for Dad. After all, I’ve got him to thank for the family jewels. So I ask my best friend and business partner to be my fiancée for the next week. Charlotte’s up for it. She has her own reasons for saying yes to wearing this big rock.

And pretty soon all this playing pretend in public leads to no pretending whatsoever in the bedroom, because she just can’t fake the kind of toe-curling, window-shattering orgasmic cries she makes as I take her to new heights between the sheets.

But I can’t seem to fake that I might be feeling something real for her.

What the fuck have I gotten myself into with this…big rock?

BIG ROCK is a standalone, dirty romance novel written from the guy’s POV by NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely.

Longer Review:

Holy Cock! Lauren Blakely does it again with humor, sweetness and scorching sex. The ease with which she writes is unbelievable. This book is at times hilarious but also endearing.

Spencer is an arrogant manwhore, who made a name for himself by creating a dating app that women actually want to use. However, that’s not his only claim to fame. He opened a series of sports bars with his college best friend, Charlotte. They’re partners, they’re best friends, and they’re off limits – to each other.

Spencer’s a complicated guy though. See, he’s actually NICE. He may be cocky (and let me tell you, he certainly has reason to be) he also really cares about his family and friends – and he treats the women he casually sees with respect. So when the opportunity arises for him to help his dad out by being a Family Man, he takes the bait.

What comes next is a hilarious week of a pretend relationship between two best friends who never crossed the line. I assure you they make that jump…and they make it hard. They’re so perfectly matched in every way. Charlotte’s no pushover, and there isn’t a whole lot of emotional angst, which I LOVED.  It does get a teeeeeensy bit on the cheesetastic side at the end for me but I shall forgive it because, Spencer.

Spencer’s tone is arrogant yet edged with kindness and I couldn’t help but love him as he suddenly began to see what was right in front of him. The back and forth banter, friendly movie watching and more-than-friendly kisses make this book a solid win. Big Rock is big fun! 4.5 stars!

Review: The Deepest Blue by Christina Lee

27781952

Author: Christina Lee

Book: The Deepest Blue (Roadmap to your Heart #2)

tl;dr recommendation: If you need to satisfy your craving for love, romance, and multiple dicks – Christina Lee is your girl and The Deepest Blue is your cure. 5 stars!

Book Summary:

Rugged and conventional Callum Montgomery enjoys running Shady Pines hunting preserve, except for the secret that’s eating him alive. When his sister brings a date for a family wedding, he can’t stand the arrogant city slicker with the stick up his perfectly fine ass. He doesn’t understand his draw to Dean, who pushes his buttons at every turn, but he’d never dream of betraying his sibling over some lust fueled fantasy.

Handsome and conscientious Dean Abbott is a research assistant in his university’s biology lab. When his roommate, Cassie, begs him to be her pretend date in front of her meddling family, he begrudgingly agrees to help. He doesn’t anticipate being enchanted by the countryside, the colorful cast of characters, or her sexy and brooding straight brother.

When contempt turns to passion and leads to stolen moments in a sugar cane field, Callum can’t help longing for the kind of connection he believes he can never have. But not even the world’s most heart-melting kiss can bridge the vast philosophical differences between the men.

Dean’s return to his urban lifestyle leaves him restless, his mind continually wandering to the charming setting that spoke to something missing deep inside him. Because you can take the city boy out of the country but you can’t make him forget the intriguing man he left behind.

Longer Review:

Be still my ovaries. They really shouldn’t be making noise at all AND YET, they don’t care. Callum and Dean made them throb and scream and beg to be invited into their inner circle. They are ADORABLE together. I may have a thing for m/m books. pshhhh. whatevs.

The basic premise is simple: Dean agrees to be his BFF’s date to her cousin’s wedding so that they stop bugging her about marrying a certain ex who would serve to expand their family’s land. When Dean shows up and runs into Callum they banter back and forth like they’ve been married for years.

Except that Callum isn’t out. He’s never been out. And he’s not sure he can be without putting his family’s business in jeopardy. But he feels a pull to Dean that he’s never felt with anyone before – the crazy part is that for a good portion of this book neither of them know that the other is available or interested…and YET you could feel the intensity with every glance and slight touch.

A little angsty but with so much more love, Lee develops deep characters with deeper feelings. I genuinely liked each guy and I LOVED when they decided that they liked each other too. If you need to satisfy your craving for love, romance, and multiple dicks – Christina Lee is your girl and The Deepest Blue is your cure.

Review: Snowed in with the Bad Boy by Sylvia Pierce

28114939

Author: Sylvia Pierce

Book: Snowed in with the Bad Boy

tl;dr recommendation: fiesty, fun, sexy and seriously entertaining. I found myself wanted a hell of a lot more of the two of them with the story ended. 5 stars!

Book Summary:

“Santa lost my address a long time ago, Cupcake. The only present you’re getting tonight is my face between your thighs.”

Former black ops mercenary Ronan Steel doesn’t do Christmas—not anymore. And he abso-f*ckin-lutely doesn’t do damsels in distress, banging on his door in the middle of a blizzard. Give her a ride? Hell, no. With her big blue eyes, innocent smile, and f*ck-me-senseless elf costume, that girl is nothing but trouble.

Sweet, sexy trouble that leaves him aching for a taste of what’s hidden under those candy-cane-striped tights…

Georgie Taylor will not miss another Taylor family Christmas—not after last year’s disaster, and especially not after shelling out $500 for the perfect elf costume. But a freak storm puts her holiday travel plans on ice, leaving her stranded at the secluded mountain cabin of a cocky, sexy-as-sin recluse who makes Scrooge look like a fuzzy pink teddy bear.

If only his filthy mouth didn’t make her so hot…

As the blizzard rages on, all Ronan wants for Christmas is to f*ck that good-girl smile right off Georgie’s face. And all Georgie wants is to punch Ronan in the snowballs… until he pins her down and gives her a full-blown Christmas miracle right there on the kitchen table…

High up in the Colorado Rockies, cabin fever never felt so good. But when Christmas morning dawns, what does Santa have in store for the naughty bad boy and his nice little elf?

** A sexy, standalone Christmas novella with an HFN and no cliffhanger! **

Longer Review:

This holiday novella is just what you need to ignore your family and have a good holiday sex fantasy or two.

Georgie’s in a slutty elf costume and gets stranded on the side of the road/end of Ronan’s driveway in the middle of the woods. He’s the opposite of warm and cuddly, but there’s just something right beneath the surface that they both can feel brewing – and it’s not hot chocolate because Ronan doesn’t have that shit.

Does this book sound ridiculous? Yes. But ohmygod it was ACTUALLY GOOD. I swear to fuck. I wouldn’t lie to you. There’s surprisingly a decent amount of depth with each character and I’m not just talking about Ronan being deep inside Georgie. Although that happens too – and it’s wildly successful. And hot.

I suppose it’s my fault that I sold this novella a little short (THE PUNS WRITE THEMSELVES) but in all honesty, this book is feisty, fun, sexy and seriously entertaining. I found myself wanted a hell of a lot more of the two of them when the story ended.

Let’s talk about the ending too – it was realistic and perfect. I wanted to hug Sylvia a little bit because she gave me the HFN that I needed and didn’t cheese it up to the HEA that maybe some would have thought was required. It was extremely well done. The writing was great too.  Except for the fact that she used the word ‘manhood’; however, I’ve forgiven worse sins, I’ll forgive this one too.

I know I’m gushing a little bit about a holiday bad boy novella, which is slightly ridiculous, but I was blown away with how quickly I tore through it and how I wanted even more. I’d read anything from Sylvia – Put her name on your list of authors to watch, curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and get your bad boy on. 5 stars!

Review: Headed for Trouble by Shiloh Walker

25101395

Author: Shiloh Walker

Book: Headed for Trouble

tl;dr recommendation: Wonderfully smart and seriously entertaining I was so fucking sad when it ended. I could read Shiloh’s writing for days. 5 stars!

Book Summary:

SHE’S A SMALL-TOWN GIRL WITH BIG DREAMS.

Nine years ago, Neve McKay fled her small Southern town and disapproving family to seek a career in the big city. Now she’s finally coming home – and hoping for a fresh start. But the relationship that shattered her world still haunts her. And even among her nearest and dearest, she doesn’t feel safe.

CAN THIS BAD BOY BE THE ANSWER TO HER PRAYERS?

Ian Campbell is a pure Scottish muscle – as hard and handsome as they come. But when Neve walks into his bar, his heart melts . . . and he vows to have this gorgeous and somewhat vulnerable woman in his life – for better or for worse. What is Neve’s tragic secret? And how can Neve expect Ian to protect her, when doing so could put his own life at risk? The only thing Ian knows for sure is that he will do whatever it takes to keep her out of harm’s way – and in his loving arms.

Longer Review:

I was sold on this book the second I read that Ian was Scottish. Call it what you will but I have a soft spot (and a wet spot) for hot scots in kilts. Upon discovering that he has a beard I promptly orgasmed.

And then something even better happened – I loved the story. While beards and dirty accented words can leave me walking funny, the plot needs to hold me up. This one more than carried me.

Neve’s harrowed past is presented in a suspenseful and intriguing way – the writing allows you to piece together the bits and pieces until the whole horrid tale comes to light and I love that page turning style. William, her ex, his coming for her and Neve’s decided to stop running and finally comes home after ten long years away. The questions swirl around her when she steps foot back into her small town and the rumors start to spread almost immediately. Meeting Ian was a fluke – but a hot as fuck fluke that I wanted her to re-do over and over again. Don’t worry, this book is full of fluking.

Neve’s strong will and stiff backbone made me love her at once. It only took once glance from Ian for him to feel the same way. These two fit together so perfectly and I had to stop myself from physically swooning more than once. They’re struggling to gain their footing in this newfound and unexpected relationship – but Ian is utterly fantastic at giving Neve was she needs (and what she begs for).

Shiloh develops each character with ease and draws you into the quick paced story. While we know that Neve’s on the run – and we also know from what – you don’t know how it all is going to shake out. Being kept on the edge keeps the relationship drama low and the suspense high.

Wonderfully smart and seriously entertaining I was so fucking sad when it ended. I could read Shiloh’s writing for days.

Suspense, heat, quick love and serious seduction: what’s not to love?!?! Get in this book!

Review: A Night With Knox by Eve Jagger

27775339

Author: Eve Jagger

Book: A Night With Knox (Sexy Bastard #2.5)

tl;dr recommendation: Seriously sexy and unbearably too short, A Night With Knox solidified my new years eve fantasies. 5 stars!

Book Summary:

One night. A sexy secret. And a New Year’s Eve they’ll never forget.

Pro baseball player Cooper Knox is tired of groupies and fans – so when a sassy brunette with curves for days doesn’t recognize him, he’s not about to let his secret slip. She wants a night to remember – and he’s going to show her a few moves she’ll never forget.

But secrets have a way of catching up with you – and when the ball drops at midnight, the new year isn’t the only thing that will be starting with a bang.

Longer Review:

What a tantalizing tease! Eve delivers a fast ball that’s knocked out of the park. Seriously sexy and unbearably too short, A Night With Knox solidified my new years eve fantasies.

Knox is the ever silent partner in the Sexy Bastards’ bars. He’s a professional baseball player who’s getting a little tired of the bat bunny game. When Shelby doesn’t fall into his usual charms and is otherwise unimpressed over his baseball prowess, he may just have met his match.

In pure Jagger style, the heat level rises from the pages. I may have read a few passages of this one aloud and was informed that it was ‘raunchy’ ‘hot’ and ‘SEXY!!’ from the listeners. So even if you don’t take my word for it – take theirs.

This novella has me salivating for the next installment. Somehow, even in the shortness of the story, I felt that there was a full development of the characters – I don’t know where it’s going, but I know just enough about each of them to love them and want to know more.  Shelby has the spitfire and give no fucks attitude that I love, while Knox has a semi-soft heart to compliment his semi-hard cock that makes itself ever present once Shelby steps into view.

As if I didn’t love the Sexy Bastards already, Knox’s dirty talking drawl and love for Shelby’s ass (he really loves her ass) pounded *wink* it home once again. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS STORY TO CONTINUE!

Dirty Billionaire

I’ve got a big dick and an even bigger bank account. That’s pretty much where my bio ends.
Honestly, I don’t need to say anything else. I’ve just sold 99% of women on going home with me.
Do I sound like an asshole to you?
That’s because I am.
And guess what? It works for me just fine.
Or at least it did.
Until I met her.
Books talk about sparks flying. Fuck that shit. With her, it was like emergency flares mixed with jet fuel. Or maybe just straight up napalm.
Only one problem.
She wouldn’t tell me her name or her number when she disappeared from the hotel room after the hottest fucking night of my life.
Now I’ve had a taste of unicorn pussy—the sweetest, rarest of all pussy—and I need it again.
So what’s an asshole to do?
I took this problem to the street. A missed connection gone viral.
And when I find her? I’m keeping her.

REVIEW:

Super dirty indeed. YES. Why am I majorly turned on by this incredibly arrogant, condescending asshole? This may be more about me than about the book, but OhEmGee, Creighton is like a fucking freight train of asshole and I LOVED HIM.

My enjoyment of him is also probably because you can literally feel the asshole slipping off of him like a second skin as Holly sneaks her way underneath his defenses. It’s adorable and possibly one of my favorite plotlines EVER. like ever ever. March writes this kind of story with flair and finesse and she will have you begging for more.

Without giving too much away, Holly is a fiery, but young, up and coming country music star. Her label is holding so many strings that she’s basically a puppet at this point just dancing to their desires. Unfortunately one of their desires is that she play up her relationship to the more popular, but less endearing, music colleague, JC Hughes.

Let’s just say that Holly’s so not down for that. Give me a strong and sassy woman like Holly all day, every day. She might be young, but she’s been through hell and no one is walking all over her – not her label, and definitely not Creighton.

I could feel Creighton’s commands through my kindle and I almost went down to me knees a few times. March swirls a fun story with characters you want to love. Dirty Billionaire is aptly named and searingly hot: I was immediately addicted. GIVE ME MORE. Thanks, Meghan.

COUNTRY STAR JC HUGHES CAUGHT BETWEEN A COCK AND A HARD PLACE

How is he going to explain this one away to girlfriend Holly Wix and his fans?

“That two-timin’ son of a . . .”

I hiss under my breath as I stare at the headline—and the compromising picture accompanying it—splashed in vivid color across the front page of the gossip rag displayed prominently in the checkout line at my supermarket. For the second time in two months, it’s a picture of my “boyfriend” locked in an unmistakably passionate embrace with another woman, except this time she’s wearing a giant black strap-on.

The edges of the paper crumple in my sweaty grip, and I fight the urge to tear it to shreds, along with every copy sitting on the rack in front of me.

He’s going to destroy my career before it even has a chance to become a reality.

One year, they said. One year in this joke of a “relationship” and I’d earn my stripes, be all set in the world of country music. Judge me all you want for agreeing, but when your brand-new record label puts something like that in the contract that will jet you out of the backwoods town you’re dying to escape, you don’t ask questions. You sign on the dotted line.

But reality is a cold slap in the face, and some days it hits you when you’re standing in line at the grocery store. What happens when they finally catch JC with a guy? His habit of swinging both ways, but preferring men to women, is about to become the worst-kept secret in Nashville.

I’m Holly Wix, winner of a make-me-a-star TV show, and handpicked by the label to buoy JC’s once-impressive but now flagging career. It didn’t seem like a big deal when they slipped it into my contract in the beginning. What starry-eyed girl wouldn’t be thrilled to have her name linked to a country star?

Instead of the one-way ticket to stardom I naively expected, I’m becoming the butt of every industry joke faster than the guys back home can spend their paycheck on twelve-packs and scratch-offs. But I’ve got one shot at keeping this dream career alive, and honestly, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to save it. So this situation with JC needs to get settled before things spiral further out of control.

 REVIEW

This is book two in a three book series, so don’t get all upset when you realize there is another book to go. Of course, this book really doesn’t end in a cliffhanger. It’s an ending that leaves you wanting more – but it’s not a cliffy that will make you want to throw yourself over the edge.

We pick back up with Damien and Raelyn where we know that Raelyn’s tumor may be back but we don’t know what she’s going to do about it. And, uhhh, truth be told, she doesn’t either for a good part of this book. Which was both suspenseful and infuriating.

Oh sweet sweet Damien. His unwavering support of Raelyn holds up this book on its legs, walking it forward and carrying it at its hardest moments. His fierce strength and stubborn determination made me fall for him again and again. *swoon*

Damien may not have known was love was before Raelyn, but he’s certainly making up for it now. He is all alpha male, but so fricking sweet that you’ll want to tackle hug him. And well…Raeyln does that too. The sexy scenes are plenty sexy. I’m pretty sure Damien would walk around with Raelyn permanently attached to his dick if he could. And I was totally ok with that.

Angsty, emotional and passionate, Tattooed Scars left a lasting impression. NEED BOOK THREE NOW! 4 stars!

Review: Forbidden by CD Reiss

forbidden-full-fronth

Author: CD Reiss

Book: Forbidden (Songs of Perdition #1-3)

tl;dr recommendation: gritty, raw and gloriously brutal. FIVE STARS.

Book Summary:

Everything about Fiona is forbidden.

She’s a party girl with dark desires.
She’s beautiful, irresponsible, irresistible.

She’s my patient.
I’m her therapist.

I’m past past wanting her. Past possessing her. Past bedding her or protecting her.

I’m willing to be self-destructive, negligent, brave, audacious, and stronger than I ever believed possible.

She’s blunt force trauma to the heart.
And she calls another man Master.
—–

This book contains Kick, Use, and Break from the Perdition Series. It is the ENTIRE STORY with a complete beginning, middle and end.
If you read Kick and Use, Break is easily found in the table of contents, and it’s a full length novel.

Longer Review:

This is a fascinating, cryptic and lyrical ride through Fiona’s fucked up mind. CD Reiss has her own brand of kinky and this falls smack dab in the middle of it.

Dirty sex, rough sex, sensual sex, violative sex, degrading sex – it’s all present and accounted for and it’s all NECESSARY.

Fiona’s crazy. A little bit. We meet her while she’s waking up in a mental hospital and she’s not sure if she murdered or assaulted her Master, Deacon. She’s confused, she’s all over the place, she’s violent, and she’s horny as hell. She meets her therapist Elliot and it’s not the dirty love that you think is going to transpire. Somehow, with all of the crazy going on, the love between Elliot and Fiona is pure – and Fiona can’t handle it. She doesn’t even recognize it.

I was completely on #TeamElliot even though there were times that I adored Deacon. Besides the fact that there were two men, this really didn’t feel like a love triangle to me. I was pushed and pulled so hard and fast in Fiona’s mind that I may have lost sense that there was anything wrong with what she was doing or how she was doing it.

Reiss masters the forbidden and celebrates the taboo. I was completely invested and I didn’t even really like Fiona for most of the book. How fucked up is that?

Forbidden is gritty and gloriously brutal. It will leave you raw, plucking at your emotions just to see them twitch. I adore CD’s writing and her masterful telling of a complexly simple story. This book will twist your mind and spin your soul. If you like the Original Sinners, this is a #MustRead.

Review: Midnight Mass by Sierra Simone

26878521

Author: Sierra Simone

Book: Midnight Mass (Priest #1.5)

Other book in series:

Priest (Priest #1)

tl;dr recommendation: this novella suckerpunched me and left me breathless – and with so much hope. 5 stars!

Book Summary:

We are told that God will punish the wicked. That sinful men will reap what they sow. We are told to scourge our souls with prayer and pain to become clean once again.

Well, here I am. Wicked and sinful. Desperate to become clean…even though it feels so good to be dirty.

But even I never expected what came next.

Even I never expected my punishment to come so soon.

***Midnight Mass is a novella and a sequel to Priest. It’s intended for mature audiences only.***

Longer Review:

Once again Sierra has gathered up my emotions and shoved them into what feels like the smallest space of my heart, holding them captive, letting them bash into each other and move faster and faster until the point of pain – until the point that I think that may heart may just fucking burst – and then she releases them allatonce and I swear to fuck that they made the ‘whoosh’ sound and everything as they rushed out into the night.

This is not a fluffy and lighthearted book.

This is not a smiley skipping in a field of wildflowers book.

This is a raw insight into Poppy and Father Bell at their worst – and at their best. It’s the dark clashing with the light, it’s selfishness clashing with selflessness, it’s about what happens when everything breaks and feels hopeless and how those pieces can find their way back together. It’s about appreciating the littlest things in your partner, and holding them tight in your grasp. I ADORED THIS NOVELLA.

It’s not always happily ever after. When the pages shut and the days continue, life can sometimes get in the way of those gorgeous moments in time that make everything right. Tyler is in mid-dissertation and he’s pretty freaking distracted. Of course, Poppy’s been working hard as well to create The Perfect Event. This left not a lot of time for talking and a lot more time for longing. You can feel them start to slip from each other – you can feel the hot knife of jealousy shoved through Tyler’s chest and the burning flames of guilt eat him alive for every moment he’s not spending with Poppy. It’s gloriously honest and frighteningly accurate.

There are, of course, hot as sin scenes that will leave you thinking you’re in heaven. The raw and sometimes emotionally (and occasionally physically) brutal scenes filled the gaping need I had for these two. Sierra writes some of the most beautifully blasphemous scenes I have ever read. *drools*

I inhaled Sierra’s words like I’ve been fasting for days. Beautiful and deep, this novella suckerpunched me and left me breathless – and with so much hope. 5 stars!
