Message from Lauren

I’m so thrilled that the Seductive Nights erotic romance series is continuing with a new installment starring a new couple! This series has been such a joy to write since it started as a fan-driven series, with Julia and Clay, and then Jack and Michelle, and now this this new novel is about Nate and Casey. Readers requested that I write their story next, so I did! FORBIDDEN NIGHTS can be read without having read the earlier books.
(Though, why wouldn’t you want to meet the other couples?!)

I can’t wait to introduce readers to Nate Harper and Casey Sullivan. They’re a dynamic duo and many early readers are saying this is their favorite story yet! Nate knows exactly who, and what he wants, and is thrilled when the opportunity he’s dreamed about for years presents herself to him. Expect many steamy encounters between these two!

FN iBooksABOUT FORBIDDEN NIGHTS:

She has been the star of his dirty dreams for years.

Sexy hotel CEO Nate Harper has lusted after his good friend Casey Sullivan for a long time, and she’s cried out his name in pleasure countless times in his fabulously filthy fantasies. But even though he’s quite skilled at pleasing a woman, he won’t act on his intense desire because he knows he’s no good for her. After the kind of hurt his ex inflicted on him, he’s a committed playboy for life, and Casey only wants true love.

All that changes one hot night when she comes to him with a proposition he can’t resist — she wants him to teach her to be submissive in the bedroom. Casey soon learns how very much she likes letting go of control to him. She’s never been more turned on in her life than she is in Nate’s arms. And he’s never been more taken by a woman.

The only trouble is as she experiences what it means to let go, he starts to experience what it means to feel again…And the lessons in seduction threaten to turn into so much more than either one bargained for…

What happens when years of desire and lust ignite a passion that can’t be denied?

EXCERPT

As soon as Bryan and Kat left, Nate shut the door, then locked it. She glanced quickly behind her at the window that provided a view of the sea of rabid fans. The stadium shook with excitement. Cheers from the crowd vibrated throughout the house of Ruth. Nate stalked down the three steps separating them. When he reached her, a vein twitched in his neck. His mouth was a ruler-straight line. His jaw was set hard. His stare undressed her.

“I was wrong,” he said. Each word possessed a hard edge.

“Wrong about what?” Was he talking about the dress? Or about wanting to be her teacher? God, she prayed he wasn’t backing out.

“I was wrong about tonight’s lesson. It’s not spanking.”

“What is it?”

“It’s role-playing.” His voice was hot and rough. His dark eyes prowled over her body.

“What kind of role playing?” She didn’t even bother to hide her nerves, but the  nerves also excited her. Or maybe he was simply the one who excited her. It seemed whatever he did turned her on. The fact that he was standing here, a solid mass of muscle and strength, of extreme and utter sexiness, sent shivers across her skin. She drank him in: the wavy mess of his golden brown hair, the stubble lining his jaw, the exposed patch of skin on his chest where the top two buttons of his white shirt were undone. All of it, all of him, made her tremble with want.

He took one step closer, and reflexively she backed up so her spine hit the wall behind her. She was caged in, and against her better judgment, she liked it. She liked the fact that it was starkly quiet inside the suite, and that it was intensely noisy outside, a white noise that masked all that she was feeling.

“I’m going to be playing the role of the jealous lover,” he said, his voice still laced with the same frustration she’d picked up on earlier. Was he annoyed with her?

“What do you mean?”

“I’m the jealous lover who can’t stand the thought of his woman wearing a gorgeous, stunning, absolutely fucking breathtaking dress on a date with another man.”

A wild thrill rushed through her veins from his words and what they meant. “But I thought you didn’t like the dress?” she asked, coyly, playing along.

He lifted his hand and brushed the tips of his fingers against her wrist. She shuddered from that one subtle touch. Her body begged for more, and she was almost ashamed at how much desire flowed through her bloodstream right now. She hadn’t been completely aware of how very much she had wanted to see him tonight, of how truly disappointed she had been for the first eight innings that he wasn’t here by her side. Now that he was here, she wasn’t sure how she’d survived the game without him.

He brushed his fingers along her arm, across the crook of her elbow, and up to her shoulder. Goosebumps rose in his wake.

“I don’t like the dress if you wear it for another man,” he said, keeping his eyes locked on hers the whole time. “And sometimes that means I’m going to act like a dick and tell you I don’t like the dress at all.” He brought his hands to her hair and she wanted to cry out because it felt so fucking good to be touched by him like this, with hands that were both tender and completely possessive. He speared his fingers into her hair. “But what I really don’t like is the idea that another man might look at you in it, and want to touch you the way I touch you.”

He leaned into her neck, and pressed his lips against her skin. There was nothing gentle in the kiss. His lips were hot and angry, and she felt his teeth nip her skin. A sting of pain raced through her, but it was a good pain, a pain that made her long for more.

Author: Ivy Sinclair

Book: Protect Her (parts 1-3)

Rest of the Series:

Parts 4-6
Part 7
Parts 8-9 COMING SOON!

tl;dr recommendation:  Ivy Sinclair tangles mystery, romance & suspense into an addicting paranormal world!

Book Summaries:

Part 1:
Her name has been Paige Matthews for the last three years. Before that, it was Jane Doe. Before that is nothing more than black hole after a mysterious accident wiped her memories away. Her dreams are filled with blurred images of terror. Something was after her and tried to kill her.

Riley Stone doesn’t care about anything but getting the job done and getting paid. There are few people who willingly associate with a Necromancer. Humans don’t even know that the demon world exists, and, on the other side of the veil, the angels and demons in charge consider someone like him a lower life form.

When Riley saves Paige from a demon bounty hunter, both are faced with an uncertain path before them. With no memory of the supernatural world that parallels her own, Paige is vulnerable and alone. Despite Riley’s natural inclination to leave, he knows that unless he helps her Paige will wind up dead.

Now Paige has a guardian who is far from an angel looking after her. Only one thing is certain. The way to save her life is first by finding out who she really is.

Part 2:
What happens to a human caught in the crossfire between angels and demons? Riley Stone wants to make sure that Paige Matthews never finds out.

Thinking that Riley Stone would be glad to be rid of her, Paige agrees to let an old friend help her with her new demon problem. But she soon discovers that her friend isn’t who is he appears to be, and definitely has his own agenda when it comes to her well-being.

Riley’s work on Calamta Island is done. All he needs to do is make sure that Paige is safe and sound, and then he’ll be on his way. But once he finds out that Paige is in much deeper trouble than he ever imagined, he realizes that he can’t leave her quite yet. She needs his help, even if she doesn’t know why.

The secrets surrounding Paige’s past are starting to unravel. It’s up to Riley to make sure that she stays alive long enough to find the answers that will finally reveal her destiny.

Part 3:
Things are heating up for Paige, and not just in the search for her true identity. Though she is keenly aware that Riley is avoiding telling her everything about his past encounters with the demons pursuing her, she finds that her attraction to him overriding her better judgment. With every passing hour, she is more confident that if anyone can keep her safe, it is Riley Stone.

To stay one step ahead of their enemies, Riley reluctantly accepts help from the one man he knows still holds sway over Paige’s emotions. Archangel Benjamin’s claim on her soul is one that cannot be easily broken, but Riley intends to try. But first, he must take her to someone who can finally answer the question that Paige so desperately needs to know. Who was she before she became Paige Matthews?

But Paige soon realizes that she’s been asking the wrong question all along. It was never about who she was before she lost her memories, but if she truly is ready to accept the truth once it is revealed.

Longer Review:

I am completely addicted. So addicted that I’m actually engaging my husband in conversation about this serial to bounce ideas off of him as to what’s going to happen next. and that basically NEVER happens.

In part 1 we meet Paige, who has zero idea who she was prior to three years ago. Her first memory is waking up in a hospital and after giving up hope that her memory would return she made up the name Paige Matthews and took a job on an island at a flower shop. The owner of the flower shop, Christopher, takes her under his wing (hehe – this will be almost funny after you read it. I swear) and she begins to create a brand new life for herself. Unfortunately, she can’t escape the nightmares and that’s what has her out running in the middle of the night when she’s attacked by a demon.

Riley Stone, necromancer and hired demon interrogator, saves Paige from her near death run-in with a demon. Riley knows that the demons are searching for her – he’s actually been hired to find out why they’ve come on to the island, a former demonfree zone – but he doesn’t know why.

This serial quickly pulls you into the paranormal world and doesn’t let go. There’s a fantastic intensity and well developed connection among the characters and I absolutely love it. Paige may not know what’s going on, but she’s one seriously tough chick. She faces danger, death and the unexpected without flinching. The twists and turns are SO GOOD that it had me frantically flipping through the pages of my kindle.

Slight Spoilers ahead for parts 2 & 3:

Riley and Paige have an immediate magnetic pull on one another that you can actually feel. When they first give in to their impulses in the caves, I was squealing a bit. I love their honesty with each other and Riley’s protective nature. They’re both a little vulnerable and out of their element and I think that’s part of why this story works so well. Of course, now I’m dying to know how Benjamin branded Paige, why Riley can’t *ahem* FINISH what he so definitely wants to because of that brand, and what the hell Proctor is going to do to Paige. SO MANY QUESTIONS.

While I received an ARC of this box set in exchange for this review, I sure as fuck went and bought parts 4-7.

I shall report back – LOVE THIS!

Release Day: Bayonet Scars Box Set: Volume I by JC Emery!

THIS IS THE END OF THE BEGINNING…

The only thing stronger than the bond of Forsaken’s brotherhood is the strength of the women who fight for their hearts.
In Ride we fell in love with Ryan despite our better judgment and cheered Alex on in her relentless pursuit of his heart. In Thrash we hurt for Nic as she struggled to trust Duke and let him love her. In Rev we saw Grady as both an intense lover and a flawed man trying to be a good father. In Crush we were consumed by the volatility of first love with Jeremy and Cheyenne.
Now, in Vow we see the product of Ryan’s love as he searches for something that Alex may not be ready to give– yet.
For a limited time the first half of the Bayonet Scars series is together with Ride, Thrash, Rev, Crush, and Vow plus Where Souls Spoil & Hearts Rot, an exclusive guide to the Forsaken Motorcycle Club and the Bayonet Scars universe.
Love is never more riveting than when it’s Forsaken.

Death comes in Armani. Salvation comes in leather.

Principessa to the Mancuso crime family, Alexandra knows a thing or two about living outside the bounds of the law. Suffocated by the future her father has laid out for her, she makes a choice she can’t take back, changing the entire trajectory of her life.

Thrust into the dark and dangerous world of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club for her own protection, Alex finds herself faced with the last thing she needs right now: the man of her dreams. He’s sex in leather, the devil incarnate, and one hell of a kisser. But he’s also off-limits. Ryan Stone can be her friend, but he’s forbidden to be her lover.

Third-generation Forsaken, Ryan knows nothing other than life on two wheels, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He enjoys the many privileges that come with the patch, and the only laws he recognizes are the ones set-forth by his club. That is, until who he wants more than anything isn’t allowed on the back of his bike —or in his bed. Balancing his desire for her body, and need to keep her safe, Ryan tries to keep Alex at a distance. Finally having made a choice for herself, she’s done hearing the word “no” and will push boundaries even Ryan himself doesn’t dare cross.

Love is never more tempting than when it’s forbidden.

Loneliness suffocates the heart. Acceptance breaks down walls.

As a Lost Girl to the Forsaken Motorcycle Club, Nicole Whelan knows how to party. She’s not cut-out for relationships and her life is way too complicated for anything more than casual encounters. But one night when she falls into Duke’s bed at the clubhouse, he sees something in her that he can’t let go of—no matter how many times she tries to run.

Having been left to raise her teenage brother, Jeremy, she’s already got her hands full and isn’t looking for anymore complications. But Duke’s just watched his best friend fall for the only girl he couldn’t have, and then almost lose her so shortly after, shaking him to his core. Faced with his own loneliness, he’s more determined than ever to break down Nic’s walls and show her that he can be good for her; but he’s got a bad track record and she’s got a bad temper. Changing his ways isn’t easy when he’s not sure what he’s even changing for.

The violence and turmoil are at an all-time high, and Forsaken is in a vulnerable place when a twist of fate breathes new life into the club. It’s a much-needed beacon of hope for the embattled biker family, even if everyone’s not exactly on board. With Duke and Nic’s relationship already on shaky ground, and something even more important at stake, the Forsaken Motorcycle Club will fight like hell to keep their family together and whole.

Love is never more precious than when it’s new.

With the looming threat from the Mancuso Crime Family, the
Forsaken Motorcycle Club is preparing for a war that could destroy them. Grady,
the club’s Sergeant-at-Arms, knows that love makes you weak, and he has zero
interest in adding to his liabilities– especially now. He’s already got his
teenage daughter who keeps him on his toes and a beef within the club that
could fracture his relationship with a fellow brother for good. For Holly Mercer, her life is finally getting on track and the last thing she
wants is trouble from her hometown’s resident outlaws. Keeping her nose clean
is easier said than done, when suddenly she finds herself embroiled in club
business. Holly might like the idea of being with a real-life bad boy, but even
being in the same room with tough-as-nails Grady flusters her. When Holly inadvertently finds herself on Mancuso’s radar, she has two choices:
trust that Grady will protect her, or continue to refuse the club’s help. Both
roads are dangerous, but only one has the chance to damage her beyond repair.Love is never more dangerous than when it can destroy you.
Young love is always perfect. Until it’s not.

Cheyenne Grady is a total daddy’s girl to her bad-ass father, the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club. She’s funny, and kind, and she just wants that deep, earth-shattering love like her dad has with her school secretary, Holly. But Cheyenne’s been looking in the wrong direction, because the only good that can come from the way she looks at Jeremy Whelan is a lesson in heartbreak.

Jeremy always wanted to prospect for the Forsaken Motorcycle Club and wear the same patch as his father. When a life-long dream becomes reality, Jeremy realizes that the outlaw lifestyle is not for the faint of heart. Nor is it easy on relationships. He wants to be a good man, but temptation is everywhere.

Cheyenne is beautiful, and strong, and exactly what Jeremy could have forever. As long as he doesn’t screw it up.

Love is never more powerful than the first time.

HE REFUSES TO GIVE IN. SHE REFUSES TO GIVE IT UP.

Alexandra Mancuso knows all about regrets. She talked to the wrong person and started a war that’s ravaged her newly adopted motorcycle club family and threatens to cost Alex her life. Now, she’s cautious with the commitments she makes.

Ryan Stone, road captain for the Forsaken Motorcycle Club regrets nothing—except putting Cub in danger one time too many. The Forsaken Motorcycle Club has a plan to end the war with the Mancuso crime family and they need everyone’s head in the game. But Ryan can’t focus on the club when he’s so distracted by a certain reckless brunette. She gives him everything except for what he really wants.

Today, he refuses to take no for an answer and maybe, just maybe, this time Alex won’t be able to stand her ground.

True love always defies the odds.

EXCERPT

There are no interferers here in New York – no one to try to take away his most prized possession. I’m his most prized possession. And it’s a title I’m thrilled to have. It’s also a burden I’m willing to shoulder. Because I know that the sanctuary we’ve created here is only temporary. Facing that dark world is a battle hovering on the horizon of our current almost perfect existence. And I hate myself for doubting the strength within me to see us through it – the strength Miller is so confident I have.

A mild stirring beside me pulls me back into the lavish suite we’ve called home since we arrived in New York, and I smile when I see him nuzzle into his pillow on a cute murmur. His dark waves are a mussed mess upon his lovely head and his jaw shadowed by coarse stubble. He sighs and pats around half asleep until his palm feels its way up to my head and his fingers locate my wild locks. My smile widens as I lie still and let my gaze linger on his face, feeling his fingers combing through my hair as he settles again. This has become another habit of my perfect part-time gentleman. He’ll twiddle with my hair for hours, even in his sleep. I’ve woken with knots on a few occasions, sometimes with Miller’s fingers still caught up in the strands, but I never complain. I need the contact – any contact – from him. My eyelids slowly close, soothed by his touch. But all too soon, my peace is bombarded by unwelcome visions – including the haunting sight of Gracie Taylor. I snap my eyes open and bolt upright in bed, wincing when my head gets yanked back and my hair pulled. ‘Shit!’ I hiss, reaching up to begin the meticulous task of unravelling Miller’s fingers from my hair. He grumbles a few times but doesn’t wake, and I rest his hand on the pillow before pulling myself softly to the edge of the bed. Glancing over my naked shoulder, I see Miller lost in a deep sleep and silently hope his dreams are serene and blissful. Unlike mine. Letting my feet find the plush carpet, I push myself up, having a little stretch and a sigh. I remain standing beside the bed, staring blankly out the huge window. Could I really have seen my mother for the first time in eighteen years? Or was it just a hallucination brought on by stress?

‘Tell me what’s troubling that beautiful mind of yours.’ His sleepy rasp interrupts my thoughts and I turn to find him lying on his side, praying hands resting under his cheek. I force a smile, one I know won’t convince him, and let Miller and all of his perfection distract me from my inner turmoil.

‘Just daydreaming,’ I say quietly, ignoring his doubtful expression. I’ve mentally tortured myself since we boarded that plane, replayed that moment over and over, and my quiet pensiveness has been silently noted by Miller. Not that he’s pressed me on it, leaving me certain that he thinks I’m reflecting on the trauma that has landed us in New York. He would be partly right. Many events, revelations, and visions have plagued my mind since arriving here, making me resentful that I can’t fully appreciate Miller and his devotion to worshipping me.

‘Come here,’ he whispers, remaining still with no gesture or encouragement, only his quiet, commanding words.

‘I was going to make coffee.’ I’m a fool to think I can avoid his questions or concern for much longer.

‘I’ve asked once.’ He pushes himself to his elbow and cocks his head. His lips are pressed into a straight line, and his crystal blue eyes are burning through me. ‘Don’t make me repeat myself.’

I shake my head mildly on a sigh and slip back between the sheets, crawling into his chest while he remains still and allows me to find my place.

Once I’m settled, his arms encircle me and his nose goes straight to my hair. ‘Better?’

I nod into his chest and stare across the planes of his muscles while he feels me everywhere and takes deep breaths. I know he’s desperate to comfort and reassure me. But he hasn’t. He’s allowed me my quiet time and I know it’s been incredibly difficult for him. I’m overthinking. I know it, and Miller knows it, too.

He pulls out of the warmth of my hair and spends a few moments arranging it just so. Then he focuses worried blues on mine. ‘Never stop loving me, Olivia Taylor.’

‘Never,’ I affirm, guilt settling deep. I want to reassure him that my love for him shouldn’t be of any concern – none at all. ‘Don’t overthink.’ I reach up and drag my thumb across his full bottom lip and watch as he blinks lazily and shifts his hand to clutch mine at his mouth.

He flattens my palm and kisses the centre. ‘It’s a two-way street, gorgeous girl. I can’t see you sad.’

‘I have you. I couldn’t possibly be sad.’

He gives me a mild smile and leans forward to plant a delicate kiss on the end of my nose. ‘I beg to differ.’

‘You can beg all you like, Miller Hart.’ I’m quickly seized and pulled onto his front, his thighs spreading so I’m cradled between them. He clenches my cheeks in his palms and reaches forward with his lips, leaving them millimetres away from mine with hot air spreading across my skin. My body’s reaction isn’t something I can help. And I don’t want to.

‘Let me taste you,’ he murmurs, searching my eyes.

REVIEW

Sexy, suspenseful & oh so addictive, One Night: Unveiled is Miller-Perfect. Would you like me to Elaborate? I thought you might…

Jodi Ellen Malpas mixes sex & suspense as we travel from New York to London & from the dark to the light. She also shocks the hell out of you. I did NOT see the twists and turns coming that were revealed as the pages turned. My anticipation was not in vain – the third installment of this series does not disappoint. Of course, if you were hoping that Livy was going to be a normal, sane person then you may be a tinge upset for the first part of this book.

Livy is a lunatic. As the Brits would say, she’s lost the plot. Livy cannot handle life outside of her little job and her Nan and when she’s forced to do just that, she fucking loses it. For a girl with lots of sass, she doesn’t always have the brains to back it up and I wanted to shake her a bit. Thankfully she gets better as time goes on or else I would have lost it.

Miller, on the other hand, continues to be the OCD, piercing blues, part-time gentleman and full-time sexgod that we grew a little obsessed with in the first two books. His words slay me over and over again. While he may live in a dark place, his soul when he’s with Livy is nothing but bright white light. SPOILER ALERT: He wears jeans!!!!!! I was so irrationally excited about that little fact. It was like progress was being made in MillerLand! However, what he doesn’t do is give up his most prized possession, his Thing, worshipping or his suits. and thank fuck for that, right?! The rest is up for grabs and I loved watching Miller transform.

Unveiled slowly peels back the layers to this story that you’ve been dying to know and in the process, Miller and Livy work their way under your skin & into your heart. I was absolutely addicted to every single page & I’m a little sad it’s over. Such a great book!

THIS SERIES IS A NECESSITY.

With one pudding cup snug in my pocket, I was the epitome of stealth.

I slipped through the door quietly, ignoring the fact that I looked like a creepy stalker, and I stepped into the darkened room like I had a purpose.

I did work here, so there could be a dozen reasons for me entering a patient’s room.

Delivering a fudge snack pack was probably not one of them.

Like the many times before, I tried not to linger as I entered the room, but with each passing visit, it became more and more difficult.

The first night I’d decided to do this, I’d quickly done this drop-and-dash routine. I had gone in and out without a second glance.

But then, I’d met her. I’d come to her room and found myself face-to-face with the girl behind my late-night pudding runs. She was shy and timid, her gestures clumsy and unpracticed. She was so different from the polished and sophisticated girls I’d grown up with. Even her name was awkward. It sounded like the classic Eric Clapton song “Layla,” but hers was spelled all wrong.

She had made me curious. I’d suddenly wanted to know what else in this world would make her smile.

tl;dr recommendation: I love this story! Series = awesome.

Book Summary:

Power. Money. Control. Love.

He has all but one.

When movie star, Evan Carlson, discovers his girlfriend’s picture with another man splashed on the cover of gossip magazines, he decides he’s had enough of his fishbowl life and attempts to outrun the media frenzy his relationships have become. Driving until the road stops, he ends up on the remote and quaint Perry Island, where a heartthrob can blend in like the locals and be a beach bum as long as he wants. All that changes when Evan meets Haven Owen, aspiring songwriter and the girl he just can’t get enough of. A summer romance turns into something much deeper and Evan gets tangled in his own web of lies to keep Haven in his life. But when his ex tracks him down, Evan learns there are some things you just can’t outrun.

Is the cost of love, losing all control?

Longer Review:

VALENTINE’S DAY! I can think of no better day to post this review than today. Finding Haven is the epitome of a sweet love story. Two strangers collide in the most innocent of ways, fall in love, fall apart, and ultimately accept each other for who they each really are. I LOVES IT.

There’s not a ton of unnecessary drama in this book and I really appreciated that. The story progresses thoughtfully – each scene pushes the story along to give it purpose on the whole. I  appreciated that there isn’t a lot of screaming, yelling, over analyzing and crying (there are plenty of books out there that will provide you with that if you’re in the mood).

Haven isn’t an idiotic fuckwit who can barely string two words together in front of an attractive man. She’s down to earth, she’s beautiful, she’s NORMAL.

Evan’s also beautiful, what with the whole being-a-movie-star thing and all, but he’s actually pretty beautiful inside as well. His darlin’ southern ways charmed his way right onto my bookshelf. He’s adorable, and sweet, and actually cares about people, leaving Hollywood because of its vicious and malicious nature. This book is about Evan’s search for that something missing in his life. He’s not quite sure what it is, but he knows it isn’t found under the fake movie sets in Hollywood.

The riff happens because of a lie. Evan lies to Haven to protect her – and to protect himself. The lie is simple, but it’s enough to do some damage when revealed. I’m so happy that the reveal wasn’t overdone. T.A. Foster could have drug that damn lie out for chapters. She could have made me parse through 100 pages of fighting. BUT SHE DIDN’T AND I LOVE HER FOR THAT.

The chemistry between Haven and Evan is really hot. Even when Evan’s fighting for control….fighting not to let go…trying to reign in his desire….even those scenes are hot. Fuck, even when he masturbates in the teeny tiny little RV shower in under seven minutes it’s hot. I’ll just throw it out there – when you read this, get excited for the hurricane. ok? OK.

This book was super easy to read. I flew through it and really really wanted more when it was finished. & GUESS WHAT there is more!!! Red Lines, just released on February 6, 2015.  Yes, YES, ALL THE YES. Series = awesome.

Review: All Fired Up by Madelynne Ellis

Author: Madelynne Ellis

Book: All Fired Up (#2)

Series: Black Halo

Other Books in Series:

All Night Long (#1)
All Right Now (#3) – no release information available right now

tl;dr recommendation: I sort of feel like if you’ve read the summary, you’ve read the book :/

Book Summary:

All Fired Up is the follow-up to New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Author Madelynne Ellis’ scorching rock star romance novel, All Night Long.

Ginny Walters always knew her weakness for bad boys would get her into trouble. Her one night stand with Black Halo’s lead guitarist, Ash Gore, was only supposed to be a fun, not the prelude to the sort of relationship that’d scorch holes in her heart as well as her bed sheets. She’d be the happiest woman in the world if Ash wasn’t so determined to keep their connection off radar.

Ash Gore knows girlfriends are bad news for bands, which is why he’s resolved to keep his attachment to Ginny a secret. He and the guys have enough on their stages as they try to piece themselves back together after the band’s split. But when new drummer, Iain Willows, starts taking an active interest in Ginny, tensions quickly mount. Soon, Ash is not only at risk of losing Ginny, but everything he holds dearest–including life itself.

Longer Review:

I LOVE a rockstar book. I do. There’s something about rockers & backstage & tours & groupies that makes my subconscious want to rip my clothes off to throw them onto the fictional stage. So I’m a bit crestfallen that All Fired Up didn’t get me all fired up.

I’m not singing this book’s praises and I’m not condemning it either. There were definitely parts of the story that I enjoyed, and those parts all happened when Ash and Ginny were on the same page or were actually interacting with one another. I felt that there was a lot of talk about the band, but I didn’t get a real connection to them. I actually really enjoyed when Ginny stood up for herself backstage when it came to her relationship with Ash. That was a total YES moment. And I even enjoyed reading about the breakdown between the two (no spoilers), but there were other situations that I felt lacked a lot of foundation and I couldn’t get into it.

I go into every book with an open mind, but I couldn’t get into this one. I was really trying to create a connection to the characters, but except for Ash & Ginny, I couldn’t get it up. There was a delay of non-material information, which may have been done in order to build the storyline, and it left me with missing pieces that caught me off guard and had me wondering why I wasn’t told earlier.

For example, I had no idea that Xane was bisexual until three quarters of the way into the book (which is probably because I didn’t read book 1; however, this book was touted that it could be read as a standalone, so I sort of felt that it should have been in his intro…right?). And I sure as fuck had no idea that Ash was interested in bi-play until about that time too. I actually found this information to be pretty hot and it totally could have been plugged in to the scene where Ash jacks himself off on the tour bus while having phone sex with his girlfriend…through his best friend, Spook, who refuses to give him the phone. Speaking of….that scene was a little odd to me….and sort of unnecessary, especially because it wasn’t sexual for Spook. But I digress. It was stuff like this that threw me for a loop.

I also didn’t feel that I knew enough about Ginny. I didn’t know she was in college until deep into the book, which then finally made sense as to why she could go on tour with the band without any other responsibilities. And then there’s the whole part about her “going home” and “taking care of things” – no follow up explanation, except that she didn’t want to explain whatever she did to Ash. We never did find out and that’s sort of bugging me. I knew more about her clit ring than I did about who she was as a person.

When shit hits the fan at the end of the book, I actually was pretty into the storyline. Finally we knew what was causing all of the weird disturbances & accidents – and we knew who was fucking with Ash & Ginny. It was just getting good and then BAM, major cliffhanger. I think my sadface is showing. Here’s to hoping book 3 solves my problems & keeps the momentum going….

Overall, Three solid three stars.

Let the Kinky Fuckery Commence

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY PREMIERES TODAY. Just sayin. I might be a little excited.
Maybe, perhaps, a little bit. He’s one of my very first bookboyfriends, so he needed his own tshirt. obviously.

I’m going tonight with one of my good friends (& booklover) whose obsession is fairly tantamount to my own. oh, and her husband. HE IS A LUCKY MAN.
my husband declined the invite, but he promised to be awake when I get home. He’s not dumb.

For me, like many others, Fifty Shades of Grey was the first erotica book I ever read and it obviously had an effect. Suddenly I realized that it was ok that I loved these sorts of books – it was ok to get a little hot & bothered by it – and it was ok that I wanted to read more and more and more. FSOG turned something on in me (he he) that I didn’t even know existed and I couldn’t be more thankful to EL James for that. All of the haters can just keep hating. This book, the ones I’ve read after, and the community I’ve found in this amazing romance genre have given me the strength to give zero fucks about what anyone else thinks. My inner goddess is biting her lip in appreciation.

For everyone going to see it tonight, tomorrow & this weekend – enjoy!

Laters, baby.

BOOK BLURB:

Olivia is Anna Wintour’s worst nightmare, and she doesn’t give a shit. She’s wanted to go into fashion design her whole life, and nothing is going to stop her fabulous plus sized self. Not even her boss from hell, or the fact that she’s the fat Cinderella of the most exclusive lingerie store in Bushwick, Ohio. She’s sworn off dating, because she is focused, dammit, and will not get distracted by anyone in college. She has shit to do and places to go, be it on her own with the clothing she makes, or with the girls in Twelve Beats In A Bar, the all-female a cappella group she’s part of.

Why do group projects always have to ruin everything?

Thierry Acosta has it all. Shortstop on Bushwick University’s baseball team, amazing grades in college, everything he could want. When he gets paired with Olivia for a group project, things are only getting better. And then his dad loses his job, and Thierry’s life falls apart. He can’t manage to get himself to practice, to class… anywhere. He’s got the scars on his wrists to prove that this has happened before, but he thought he was better. He thought he could deal with something like this. The cuts on his thighs say otherwise.

AUTHOR NOTE:

Authors have a funny relationship with their characters. We spend so many hours inside their heads, so many hours just thinking about the characters we write. We do hours of research to make sure the characters we write are honest and correctly portray the kind of person we want them to.

After spending hours and hours with my characters, and doing research about people going through the same situations as they are, I’m always left wanting to do something. Writing the book is a way to bring attention to different issues, but it never feels like enough for me.

While writing THIS MUCH SPACE, I spent a lot of time researching depression and self-harm, and while I will always and forever link to organizations that can help people struggling, and will offer whatever emotional support I can….I wanted to do more.

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and invest directly into treatment and recovery. You can find out more about them atTWLOHA.com. I am thrilled to announce that for every Goodreads add of THIS MUCH SPACE, I will donate money to TWLOHA.

I hope that THIS MUCH SPACE will help you look at those who are suffering with compassion and love, and I’m so excited for you to meet Olivia and Thierry.

Much Love,

Title: The Billionaire Bargain Part 3
Series: The Billionaire Bargain #3
Author: Lila Monroe
 Release Date: February 12, 2015
Synopsis

Last week I was in the penthouse with a sexy Australian billionaire. Now I’m back to Netflix Friday nights and leftover takeout. And it’s all my fault.

I’m the one who left the high life behind, and all because I couldn’t bring myself to go through with a sham marriage to my sexy boss Grant Devlin — because I went and fell in love with him for real.

I know, stupid.

Now he won’t talk to me, my job is hanging by a thread, and oh yeah, an evil plot to take over Devlin Media Corp means all my hard work could be for nothing. If we’re going to save the company, I need Grant’s help.

Help that doesn’t include hot sex in the copy room.

Wish me luck.

Review

Oh.My.God. The final installment of Billionaire Bargain is absolutely worth the wait. Lila Monroe weaves sarcasm with sentiment to create a thrilling story of love and business-espionage, with quite a bit of heat.

We pick up with Lacey who has run away to her parent’s house after her Grand Departure From The Alter. She’s left eating regret and her parent’s quinoa…at least when she can eat. Her stomach is in knots over whether she left Grant for the right reasons, or whether she made the worst mistake in her life. Lacey struggles to decide whether to face Grant, the man she loves, or to just run away and start over. She finally decides to hold her head high, show the world that middle finger of hers, and make a grand entrance back to work (wearing a killer fucking suit and hot lingerie underneath, of course).

Grant’s less than pleased to see her again at work….and the two engage in some adorable banter that I have deemed to be foreplay. But Grant’s piercing eyes and cold demeanor are no match for Lacey’s headstrong determination. Our favorite bitch-we-love-to-hate Portia is back and this time she has a secret plan to thwart Devlin Media. When Lacey sees Portia making a move to take over the company she decides to be the strong woman she is & face Grant head-on (he he he). GOD I LOVE THEM.

The final installment of this series gives you exactly what you want: sarcasm, wit, hot sex, and a happily ever after that will leave you swooning. If you haven’t read this serial yet, then you need to now, since you know, they’re all out now. FINALLY. I love love love this series and I can’t wait to see what Lila has in store for us next!
