Book Summary:

The dark secret Kayden has kept hidden for years is finally out. Worse, he’s facing charges for battery. The only way to clear his name is for Callie to speak up-something he’ll never ask her to do. Instead, he’ll do whatever he must to protect her . . . even if it means letting go of the only girl he’s ever loved.

Callie knows Kayden is going back to his dark place and desperately wants to save him. But that means facing her greatest fear and admitting her own painful secrets aloud. The thought of breaking her silence terrifies her-but not as much as the thought of losing Kayden forever.

Deep in her heart, Callie knows the time has come for her and Kayden to forget the pain of the past. With the help of her friends Seth and Luke she makes a plan to show Kayden the life they could have. But can she convince him they can make a fresh start together-or is she already too late?

Longer Review:

After being left with such a crazy cliffhanger in book one, we return to find out that Kayden is in the hospital, Callie is missing him something fierce, and both of them are at a loss as to how to fix their problems and move forward. Thank God for Seth & Luke, because otherwise I’m pretty sure Callie would have lost it.

Instead, it was so awesome to see the determination flit into Callie’s eyes. She’s transforming into someone with confidence, determination and strength. While she still has her demons, she’s focused on helping Kayden destroy his. Kayden’s not unwilling to face them, but he really doesn’t know how. And he doesn’t want to hurt Callie any more than he thinks that he already has.

AHHHH, young emotional angsty love. There’s plenty of drama as you’ve come to expect, and the writing is impeccable. I was once again sucked into this book and tossed aside all of the other ones I was supposed to be reading. What? There was nothing else that I wanted to do but read this series. Get ready to hold on for an emotionally gripping ride. It’s a true NA, where love story meets coming of age – and it’s really well done.

Unfortunately that ending AGAIN left me a unfulfilled. Thank fuck there’s a conclusion book for their story because I could not be left like that. GOD I’M SO NEEDY.
