Review:
Nice guys finish last – at least when they’re in the bedroom…and Ryker is the Ultimate Nice Guy. If I were making a list (which I may be doing) my favorite qualities attributable to Ryker include, but are not limited to:
1. his penchant for eating pussy;
2. his inability to do “flings”;
3. his complete honesty to Gray;
4. even though he plays in the back by the net, he knows when it’s time to be forward (oh yes, I just punned that so hard);
5. that he’s not embarrassed to practice yoga;
6. his love for his daughters (I had to tell my ovaries to Shut The Fuck Up because they were screaming with glee); and
7. his Give No Shits attitude about his ex wife.
SIGH. Gray and Ryker fire up the sheets and melted my heart. Gray may be the new GM of Cold Fury, but she’s no ice queen. She’s smart – like, genius smart – and while she’s also incredibly gorgeous, her rapid paced brain has slowed her down in the dating department. She’s never really had a real boyfriend. Of course, just because she meets Ryker, that doesn’t mean she gets to start now. Her appointment to the head of Cold Fury is already controversial because she has a vagina…if she broadcasts that a player now has inside access to that vagina, she’s terrified that she could lose everything: respect, credibility, her job.
The ‘we need to hide this relationship’ drama was pretty adorable and endearing. I love a good secret glance and clandestine fuck. Of course, we also get some office sex – which is oh so hot. Add in ex-wife drama and an unruly player, and the stakes only raise.
There isn’t a Big Misunderstanding in this book, which was incredibly refreshing. Sometimes I read just waiting for the other shoe to drop, but that didn’t happen here and I fist pumped. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t major issues going on, but if you’re seeking a book where the characters are completely honest with each other and actually *gasp* tell each other what’s going on, then you may hug this book to death.
Gray’s big brain and inability to be intimidated by big burly men made me admire and love her. She’s sassy, sweetly insecure and yet overtly confident. She and Ryker fit so well together – damnit, they just make me smile. You already know why I love Ryker 😉
Sawyer scores with this series. Each of the men on Cold Fury are amazing, but Ryker may be my favorite. He may not have had a lot of action since his ex-wife left him, but don’t worry, his stick work is still at pro level. This book is passionate, smart, dramatic, AND romantic. Those Cold Fury men never fail to leave me warm & happy.
I’m just going to flail around over here screaming for you to go read this. LOVED. Five Stars.
