FAIR GAME (The Rules Series, Book 1) May 12, 2015

Bad enough Jade Frost’s boyfriend drags her to a boring poker game. Even worse that he actually threw her into the betting pot during an intense round…and lost. Talk about the perfect excuse for Jade to make him her ex-boyfriend.

Now she supposedly belongs to the ultra rich, extremely gorgeous Shep Prescott. He could have anything he wants yet he seems to be in hot pursuit of her. No matter how rude, how snarky, how impossible she acts, it doesn’t stop him. More like her horrible behavior seems to make him want her more.

When she finds herself starting to fall for him, Jade’s confused. There’s more to Shep than the carefree rich charmer he portrays. No way could he want a serious relationship with her…or could he?

 Review:

THIS IS SO FANTASTICALLY GOOD. Monica, I’d like to crawl inside your brain, in the most non creepy way possible, and just hang out for a little while. I totally love these characters, and Shep makes it on the list of one of my favorite book boyfriends to date. That’s seriously saying something. His inner turmoil and man-boy reactions are so endearing and sweet. I absolutely adored him when he admitted his faults. His charm didn’t just affect Jade – it travels straight through the pages.

Bitch Face Jade made me laugh and smile. I loved that she had a resting Bitch Face. I understand, I have it too. DON’T JUDGE US. Her sarcasm is spot-on and makes for some great banter back and forth with Shep. She’s unafraid to say it like it is, but she’s also freaking out on the inside when it comes to the important stuff. She puts on a front, but Shep sees right through it. He strives to break down her walls, and I was completely on board with that plan.

I have to admit that the blurb didn’t sell me. Not at all. I sort of hated it. The thought of a guy winning (or even betting) on a girl in a poker game made me cringe. But then I started reading it and I was immediately proven wrong. It’s nothing like that – I mean it is, but the thought that Jade would ever be sold in a fucking poker game? It’s so laughable. So basically, don’t let that dissuade you – it’s not what you think. It’s so much better.

Fair Game is full of  arrogance, confidence, relationship blunders, new experiences, & snarky banter. AND I LOVE IT SO HARD. It’s new adult, but heavy on the sex, which means it’s a great read. 4.5 stars!
