Book: The Voice Between My Legs – Part 2

Other book in series:

The Voice Between My Legs – Part 1

tl;dr recommendation: Romance, a little angsty drama and some light bdsm deliciousness round out the conclusion to this fun serial set! 4 stars!

Book Summary:

What My Body Wants, My Heart Can’t Have.…

Lacey
Cooper has revealed his secret and his deception runs deep. My head tells me to walk away, but my body refuses. Sex with Cooper West rocks me to the core and shatters all preconceived notions of who I am. So when the billionaire presents an “arrangement” that can satisfy both our needs, I agree against my better judgment. We’re playing a dangerous game – one where our emotions and physical desires clash.

Cooper
No matter how many times I ravish her body, I’m still not satisfied. Lacey Winters has awoken feelings in me that I buried long ago. But I can’t let her get too close. Now that she knows my secret, there’s too much at stake. I have to stop thinking about her. I have to stop wanting her. I have to keep my distance while I savor every inch of her body.

Longer Review:

This dominating and heated conclusion to Lacey and Cooper’s journey is naked & erotic – oh and a bit romantic too. In case you missed it, this is the conclusion to a novella duet. You need to read part 1 first, so…go do that.

We pick back up with Lacey when she finds out exactly who Cooper is – the mask has been ripped off and her Master is standing in front of her. Lacey’s pissed that she bared her soul while Cooper was lying to her and her walls are immediately erected.

Cooper’s an interesting character. He’s hiding his identity, terrified that the small handful of people who know about him are going to ruin his world and he runs to Lacey with his hopes of a normal life dashed and his self-preservation kicking in.

I wished that there was a bit more detail in these books – I feel like this story could easily be packed into a full length novel and more bit and pieces could have been developed; however, for the serial crowd, this is a fun bite of pleasure that will leave you happily sated.

I loved Lacey’s journey and her determination to take every positive opportunity presented to her. She doesn’t back down from a challenge and she’s courageous in her pursuits. The heat between Cooper & Lacey flares hotter than ever and reading their story left me with a smile.

Romance, a little angsty drama and some light bdsm deliciousness round out the conclusion to this fun serial set! 4 stars!

Review: Nuts by Alice Clayton

Author: Alice Clayton

Book: Nuts (Hudson Valley #1)

tl;dr recommendation: I didn’t have a farmer fantasy before, but I sure as hell do now.

Book Summary:

From New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton, the first in a brand-new romance series telling the humorously sexy tale of Roxie, a private chef who gets a taste of love—but is it to stay, or to go?

After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she’s back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?

Longer Review:

Sweet, wholesome and delightfully puntastic, Clayton makes us laugh while showing us how to fall in love. I was expecting humor and while sometimes it felt a little too ridiculous, I definitely cracked more than a few smiles. And Roxie cracked a whole lot of nuts…;)

Just when I thought I had figured it all out and I actually became a little complacent, there was a twist that I didn’t see coming. THAT made me smile the most. Roxie is also just so much fun. She’s just a normal girl who has all of those insecurities about falling back into her old home town.

Sometimes going back to the place where you began – the place you fought so hard to break free from – forces you to look at yourself a little differently and face the ghosts that you tried so hard to break. While Roxie goes through these emotions, it’s not a heavy book, NOT AT ALL. There’s so much lightness mixed in, that you forget a little that Roxie is trying to sort through and organize her internal pantry.

And LEO. ohgoodheavens. I didn’t have a farmer fantasy before, but I sure as hell do now. He is home grown perfection. Scorching eyes, rough hands, and a witty mouth have Roxie at the ready to till his soil until the cows come home. Too much? NEVER.

They are perfectly matched and yet imperfectly timed. It’s so sweet to see them try to keep things casual when it’s blatantly obvious to everyone that it’s so much more. If you’re looking for a lot of back and forth banter, awkwardly hilarious scenes and steaming heat, Clayton delivers. This is funny smut wrapped in one of those pretty cupcake boxes. Nuts is delicious and sweet with just the right amount of spice. 4.5 stars!

Review: Judged – Part 1 by Ali Parker

Author: Ali Parker

Book: Judged – Part 1

tl;dr recommendation: A lick of danger and a dash of seduction mix into a sexy and fun start to this serial story! 4 stars!

Book Summary:

Part 1 of a 3 part Serial. If you don’t enjoy cliffhangers and partial reads for free, this might not be for you. I will be putting out the box set super fast, which is the full story.

** 18+ Sexual Situations and Language

A past filled with harmful teasing isn’t easily overcome. Neither is a history of crime and death.

Once judged, always judged.

Sicily Moretti comes from a long line of good cooking and large hips. Having graduated at the top of her class from the Culinary Institute of America, she finds success in sugary treats and rich pastries. Having moved from New York to Maine with her closest friend, Kari and Lisa, she’s looking for a new start where the building of her own bakery will be her focus. She’s not looking for love, nor is she interested in it. She’s been judged incorrectly too many times.

Drake DeMarco comes from a long line of crime, his new life a fresh start. His older, Demetri worked hard to help the feisty alpha male cut ties with who he was born to be, his past completely hidden to everyone in the small town of Bar Harbor. He’s invested in the town’s only gym and is working hard to keep his attention only on his business, but everything changes when a dark-haired beauty begins to steal not only his attention, but his heart.

With a past that would land him in jail, he’s beyond scared to let Sicily in. Good thing she doesn’t seem in the least bit interested. Will he finally push past his fear of having her judge his family and their nefarious ways and force her to see him for who he is on the inside?

The past follows them until they turn and face it, reconciling who they once were from who they are to become – together.

Longer Review:

A lick of danger and a dash of seduction mix into a sexy and fun start to this serial story!

Sicily needs to get a little bit of a grip as she’s constantly judging herself and her weight. While she’s a fantastic baker, she wishes she didn’t look the part. Gym owner Drake has a mysterious past and abs to die for. He also only has eyes for Sicily. Their friendship starts to bloom into something more as they both work to accept the people they are right now…not the people they wished they could be.

Parker builds these characters nicely and leaves room for a lot of growth. The emotional connection between them is just starting and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing just how much of Drake’s past is going to visit in his present!

Review: The Voice Between My Legs – Part 1 by Ozlo & Priya Grey

Authors: Ozlo & Priya Grey

Book: The Voice Between My Legs – Part 1

tl;dr recommendation: This is one dripping, delicious and salacious story of sexual awakening! 4 stars!

Book Summary:

A BDSM Sexual Awakening

I’ve done things you might not agree with. You may not like me because of it. But if you lived through what I experienced, maybe you’d see things differently. I wasn’t going to let anyone get in the way of my new life…then I met him.

Cooper West is attractive, wealthy, and CEO of one of hottest companies in New York City. He can have any girl he wants… he chose me. I have to tell him about the things I’ve done…but how?

What would happen if you let the man of your dreams read your diary? Would he still want to be with you? I’m about to find out.

*This hot and steamy romance contains elements of BDSM. It is intended for adult audiences 18+ only.

Longer Review:

This is one dripping, delicious and salacious story of sexual awakening! I was SO SAD for Lacey when I found out that her orgasm had basically gone into hibernation. *shudders* Let’s have a moment of silence.

ok. phew.

As Lacey searches for anything to give her a rush to her clit, she finds that she enjoys things that she never contemplated. I loved watching her self discovery. I also cheered for her when she stood up for herself. She’s a new woman and gives zero fucks how many zeros line your bank statements – she just cares how you treat people. Well done, girl.

Her relationship with Cooper grows quickly (ok, so the whole story was a bit fast…but it’s a novella, so, there’s that) and it’s practically over before it began….or is it? Lacey is determined not to let any chances in life pass her by and she grabs hold of every opportunity with such a love of life that I wanted her to get everything she deserved.

I wasn’t totally in love with the writing style in the beginning – it’s very ‘dear diary’ish (as advertised) and that doesn’t totally do it for me, but when the book switches over into a more traditional writing style, things got a lot better. I’m also not sold on the title of the series since it sort of makes it sound like we’re going to be reading about her vagina’s thoughts – but we don’t. It’s not the Vagina Monologues Redux, so if that was worrying you, worry no longer. The content is good and fun and full of sex clubs and self discovery, and it was super easy to focus on that instead. AND YOU SHOULD!

On the whole, this novella made me smile and want for book 2 – Cooper is aloof but charming, with something more just below the surface. Now that each of them are peeling back their layers I can only hope that book two gives us the ending they deserve!

Review: Let Love Live by Melissa Collins

Author: Melissa Collins

Book: Let Love Live (Love #5)

tl;dr recommendation: Oh hi tears. Welcome. Good to see you again. 4 stars.

Book Summary:

Who would you become if you lost the only person who ever mattered?

For twenty-six year old Dylan Hopkins, the answer is easy. He’s become no one. Memories of the happier times are all he has left as he finds himself meandering numbly through his now dull life. Though he cares about his work and family dearly, he’s yet to let himself find love again. Afraid of letting go of what he once had, Dylan chooses to keep his heart buried, where it belongs, having died a long time ago.

Conner Michelson is about to change everything Dylan knows. He’s every bit the bad boy persona – tatted up, ex-MMA fighter, but after an injury leaves him unable to fight, he has to rethink his goals. Having just opened his own gym, Conner can cross his first major life accomplishment off his very short list. Next up: find a man he can settle down with and build a family. Seems simple enough – a dream most people have, but when he meets Dylan, his carefree, easy-going life is thrown into a tailspin.

Determined to keep Dylan in his life, Conner vows to resurrect Dylan’s long ago buried heart and let love live once more.

Longer Review:

Oh hi tears. Welcome. Good to see you again.

I’m not sure quite how I feel about Melissa throwing us to the wolves in the past portion of this book, making me CARE, and then ripping my heart out. I knew that Dylan has been through a traumatic experience from reading the blurb, but I didn’t realize that we too were going to travel with him back to the past and watch him and Shane fall in love before tragedy strikes. Good lord, a girl could use a warning. So this is yours.

I sometimes felt that I was speed reading the past – not because it was badly written – because I knew it ended badly and my poor heart couldn’t take it. We spend a good fifty percent of this book with Shane and Dylan’s love story. It’s a beautiful NA m/m love story that I could have read all day – I just really fucking wanted a happier ending. And then we move on to what I call the Connor-half of the story – but Melissa doesn’t let you off the hook. Once we got to the present, the emotions don’t go away.

Connor, the former MMA fighter turned gym owner, hasn’t exactly had an easy go of life and watching the two imperfect men come together to find each other was sweet and wholesome. It was also really fucking hot. Dual cocks is one of my favorite romance subgenres (I renamed it, okay?) and Let Love Live let me enjoy every inch of these men. thankyouverymuch.

This book is well written and emotion inducing. I would blame the fact that it was 2am when I was reading this for the tears that rolled out of my eyes, but truth be told, Melissa hit me in the heart and sucked the feels out of me. Emotional while still sexy as hell, Dylan was worth the fight. 4 stars!

Review: Breaking A Legend by Sarah Robinson

Author: Sarah Robinson

Book: Breaking A Legend (Kavanagh Legends #1)

tl;dr recommendation: If you love your MMA fighter with a side of reformed bad-boy, a feisty heroine with a past, and a stalker ex-boyfriend plotline, you’ll lap up this story like a thirsty puppy. 3.5 stars!

Book Summary:

Perfect for fans of Katy Evans and Monica Murphy, Sarah Robinson’s blistering-hot series debut introduces the Kavanagh brothers—mixed martial arts fighters who work hard, play hard, and love with all their hearts.

As one of the big names at his family’s gym, Legends, MMA star Rory Kavanagh is used to being in the spotlight—until a gruesome leg injury knocks him out of the cage. Rory is left feeling sidelined in more ways than one, battling the inner demons that come with losing the one shot at his dreams. Then Clare walks into his life and gives him a new dream: winning her heart. There aren’t many new faces in Woodlawn these days, but this tough, beautiful stranger makes Rory want to get his life back into fighting shape.

Clare Ivers doesn’t think she’ll be able to tell anyone what really brought her to the close-knit Bronx neighborhood where she just started bartending. But her life’s on pause and her past is catching up fast, try as she might to move on—with new friends, steady work, and a chiseled alpha male trying to get her attention. Even though Rory’s more than a little intense, she can’t deny that her heart beats faster when he looks at her with those soulful silver eyes. Clare thought she was done with love, but Rory might just be man enough to show her she thought wrong.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

For 18+ years of age.

Longer Review:

When love strikes Rory and Clare, it hits hard. Running away from her prior life, Clare finds herself in a new town, with a new job, trying to find a way to make a new life for herself. She quickly finds a home with the Kavanagh’s – a local family full of MMA fighters and owners of the local gym – Legends. Which makes sense as each member of the family is a legend in the community. Rory, a former champion fighter, is recovering from his own pain stemming from his last fight. He’s struggling until he meets Clare, who acts like an instant balm.

I enjoyed the sweet and sizzling build between Rory and Clare but was pulled away from the story a bit due to the writing style. It was a bit static at times, which left me aching for more of a connection to the characters.

What I did adore was the emphasis on dogs: Both characters have a passion for caring for and rescuing animals and I LOVED that. Their volunteer work added a sweetness that I wasn’t expecting and definitely made me smile.

If you love your MMA fighter with a side of reformed bad-boy, a feisty heroine with a past, and a stalker ex-boyfriend plotline, you’ll lap up this story like a thirsty puppy. 3.5 stars!

Review: End Game by Willa Thorne

Author: Willa Thorne

Book: End Game (The Manhattan Tales #3)

Other books in series:

His Pawn (The Manhattan Tales #1)
Queen In Play (The Manhattan Tales #2)

tl;dr recommendation: A sexy as hell but somewhat jumpy conclusion to this searing trilogy. 3.5 stars!

Book Summary:

The games are over, but their story is not…

End Game is the third and concluding story surrounding Mason and Jillian.

Longer Review:

A sexy as hell but somewhat jumpy conclusion to this searing trilogy. Mason’s killed his father to protect Jillian – well, he didn’t kill him, but he set the stage for the accidental death that took his father’s life. Ian has turned out to be quite the jack of all trades and somehow we now trust him.

However, just because Mason’s father has been eliminated, that doesn’t mean that the threat is gone. His father had enemies of his own and debts that need to be repaid. The danger once again rears its ugly head and Mason ONCE AGAIN keeps secrets from Jill. Mason, Mason, Mason. When will you learn?!

I’m scrubbing my face a bit because I love love love Willa and I wanted to love this conclusion more, but the flow just wasn’t there for me. The sex most certainly was and for that I was screaming in pleasure. [Thank you, SIR]. The plot also ratcheted up the danger scale and I was super enthralled in the twists that kept coming; yet the writing felt choppy at times and rushed at others. I really loved the story, but the way it came together didn’t feel organic.

This series is otherwise incredibly enjoyable, sensual, romantic and full of alpha male: all characteristics of a book that cause me to cream on sight. I definitely look forward to more to come from Willa! 3.5 stars.

Review:

Holy alpha hotness! Jax suffers from major instalove, which triggers obsessive compulsive alpha male syndrome. I have to say, I loved it. He doesn’t do it in an asshole, demandy kind of way, but more in a ‘I really care about you and I don’t know why’ kind of way. However, no matter how hard he’s been hit by the #BOOM, he still needs to convince Ellie (& Hope) that he’s the one for them – while trying to solve who kidnapped Ellie & July.

Note: You definitely need to read Until July first. You will be confused as fuck in the beginning if you don’t. Ok? Ok. Besides, that’s a great book too!

If you remember, in Until July, Ellie is the other girl that July finds at the house and they escape. Ellie stumbles from the woods and falls practically into Jax’s arms. From the second that Jax sees her, he knows that she’s IT for him. He can’t explain it, he can’t describe it, he just knows that he would do anything to keep her safe.

As Jax and Ellie get to know one another, their pasts keep trying to catch up with them. Ellie is a pretty timid leading lady and doesn’t handle conflict well. She goes from dishing out amazing comebacks to shrinking into herself and falling apart. It’s a little confusing to her as a character, but I could sense she was trying to be stronger for herself AND for her daughter.

Speaking of Hope. Holy ovary explosion. She is the epitome of cuteness. That little girl is so sweet and adorable and the scenes between Jax and Hope almost made me want to miss my birth control pill today. SIGH.

This is a swoony, ovary melting story that made me squeal. If you’re looking for a fix of alpha male, Until Jax will ease your craving and leave you high on romance. 4.25 stars!

Excerpt:  Until Jax

“Thank you again for taking me.” Pulling my eyes from the road for a brief moment, I look at Ellie. Her head is resting against the window, her legs pulled up onto the seat, tucked near her ass, and her arms are wrapped tight around them. One thing I’ve noticed about her over the last few hours is she’s always wrapping her arms around herself or tucking her body into a tight ball. It’s like she’s forcing herself to stay together.

“I told you I got you, baby,” I say gently, wanting more than anything to take her hand in mine, but every time I touch her, she freezes up like she’s waiting for me to strike out at her, and I would be lying if I said that didn’t piss me the fuck off. It does; it feels like a slap in the face every time it happens.

“I know,” she whispers, and the tears I hear in her voice cause a sharp pain in my chest.

Fuck.

“This is the turnoff.” Her feet go to the floorboard and her hands to the dash as she sits up taller, moving her face closer to the windshield. We drive up a long dirt driveway with forest and the occasional broken down car on each side. When we make it to the top of the hill, a singlewide trailer comes into view, with junk cars and garbage piled up out front.

As soon as I come to a stop, she opens her door and hops out before I can tell her to keep her little ass in the cab. I don’t even know how I’m going to deal with the range of emotions that have settled over me since seeing her for the first time.

“Fucking Boom,” I mutter, getting out behind her and doubling my steps until I’m able to reach her side, where I wrap my hand around her waist and pull her closer to me. She’s so fucking tiny that the top of her dark head sits right at my chest. So fragile, from her too soft skin to her petite size. And she’s mine.

Review: Queen in Play by Willa Thorne

Author: Willa Thorne

Book: Queen In Play (The Manhattan Tales #2)

Other books in series:

His Pawn (The Manhattan Tales #1)
End Game (The Manhattan Tales #3)

tl;dr recommendation: sweet, dark & erotic – 3.75 stars!

Book Summary:

Jillian Pryor has learned a thing or two since she was swept away by the handsome Mason Woodward. For years, she had him on a high pedestal… until she learned the dirty truth about his plans for her.

Two months later, Mason is still determined to have her, but Jillian isn’t about to give in that easily. The problem is, Jill hasn’t been able to get him off her mind either.

Still, there’s more at stake than past transgressions and painful secrets. Mason will have to make a choice that Jill knows nothing about…

Longer Review:

So – remember that big cliffy? It wasn’t so much of a huge cliffhanger afterall. I mean, it is, but I was sort of surprised that we didn’t start this book being driven straight into the heart of the hospital where Jill was recovering from a potential attempt on her life. It threw me off a little, but I recovered 😉

Of course, Jill’s still pissed as fuck at Mason. And rightfully so. He’s sort of been lying to her like a cheap suit he’d never wear. Mason is the King of Contradictions and his use of the Love card, while genuine, is too little, too late. Or is it?

I was SO HAPPY when Jill found her lady balls and decided to use them. I also really appreciated that we weren’t tortured too badly with the boomerang relationship and that Mason finally became the man I wanted him to be. He shapes up beautifully in book 2, and you can finally let yourself be fully in love with him as a character – well, minus the CONTINUED LYING. *smh*

Willa once again treats us with the heat I’ve come to enjoy. Mason may be whipped, but he is dominant and delicious as ever. Jill’s submissive spirit is alive and well – and is sexy as fuck. I may have been picturing tumblr in a few of those scenes. Hell yes, SIR.

Of course, my dearest Willa, I must place you in the category with some of my favorites – the category in which no lube is used for anal sex. It’s a mission of mine to get lube in books for anal sex. Should we create a hashtag? #SlickAssFuck whatever…I digress.

The same issues with the writing style from book one continued to plague me in book two and I stand by my thoughts on that. However, the plot itself is enjoyable: sweet, dark & erotic. I could see where this was all going, but I wanted to go there. Danger and potential murder dominate this story only lightened by heated kisses, romantic gestures and slippery thighs. Bring on book 3! 3.75 stars.

Review: Justified Box Set by Ali Parker

Author: Ali Parker

Book: Justified

tl;dr recommendation: Justified is a purely enjoyable bout of lust filled passion and love soaked need. 4 stars!

Book Summary:

This includes the FULL serial series. COMPLETE STORY – HEA.

** 18+ Harsh language and sexual situations.

Lust has always been the emotion of choice; love nothing more than a silly game played by delusional fools.

Lisa Parks has been successful at everything she touches, her confidence her calling card. A recent move to Maine from New York is just the change of atmosphere she needs for a fresh start. With far too many mistakes in her past, her eyes remain focused on loving and leaving, her actions justified by far too many cracks in her damaged heart.

Marc Martin is living the dream, his college being paid for and his sights set on great things. In a quick turnaround trip to help his older sister Kari move to Maine after heartbreak, Marc meets the woman that just might be his match. Lust has been a reoccurring theme in his life, and he has no plans of changing that. He is young and free, handsome and ready to set the world on fire, and finds that he is justified in breaking hearts everywhere he goes. Besides, love is a game played by many and truly won by few.

No way would he ever consider settling down or letting someone into his heart. That is… until he meets Lisa.

Longer Review:

Rawr! Feisty and holy-shit-i-need-a-minute-that-was-hot meets vulnerability and miscommunication in this sweet and sexy serial set. For real though, I had to put down the book after that dressing room scene to uh, take care of a few things.

Lisa is love-phobic. She prefers her men interchangeable and her life uncomplicated. Except that ever since she met her best friend’s brother, Marc, she can’t picture anyone else mid-orgasm. However, Marc’s still in college, a huge player in his own right, and lives hundreds of miles away from her.

Justified is a purely enjoyable bout of lust filled passion and love soaked need. They both struggle to fit what they’ve found into their messy lives, opening insecurities along the way and pushing each other’s every button.

When two players collide and compete for dominance, sparks fly, tempers flare and wild sex is had. I loved every second of it. 4 stars!
