Release Day & Review: Badass In My Bed – Part 1 by Rae Lynn Blaise

badass
Title: Badass In My Bed (Badass #1)
Author: Rae Lynn Blaise
Summary:
Rachel’s life is music. She plays it, she lives it, she breathes it. And next week she’ll start playing her cello with the Boston Symphony, which isn’t exactly the kind of music career she wanted, but one that will make her father happy. And her happy enough.

But the weekend before she leaves for Boston, she meets Dylan. Tattoos. Biceps. Killer smile. Hard cock. Total badass. It’s a surprise that he’d ever be interested in her, but he is. He goes against everything she ever wanted in a man… or, thought she wanted. But it’s only for one night, right?

Review:

Get this serial on your radar people, you shall regret nothing. I am near combustion with need for book 2.

The sex is electric and will strike a chord you didn’t even know could be played. I am now convinced that window sex is the best sex. Completely hot and sinful, Dylan is sexy as fuck. Holy Rocker. sheeeeesh.

Rachel’s a serious kind of girl – she’s a little bit naive, but not so much that it drove me batshit crazy. She’s basically just your average good girl that is trying to do what she thinks she’s supposed to do in life. She doesn’t take risks – everything is planned, calculated and safe. But she’s about to leave everything she knows in Chicago and join the Boston Symphony Orchestra and she’s terrified. Her life is changing dramatically and while this is what she’s pretty sure she thinks she’s supposed to do, she has doubts.

Alex, best friend extraordinaire and and incredibly bad (or good?) influence, decides that Rachel needs one last night out on the town before she leaves. She also thinks Rachel needs a good fuck-off, I mean send-off…no, wait, I really meant fuck-off. So when Alex sees Rachel eyeing up the hot badass rocker looking guy in the corner of the bar, she makes their presence known. What are friends for?

And then, it begins. I really love Rachel – she’s a nice balance of wholesome but not too naive, sweet but not a pushover, sexy but not a tramp. And Dylan. OHYMYGOD. He brings out a side of her that she didn’t even know existed. [He can bring that side out in me anytime]. He’s tattooed, gorgeous and while a little evasive, he seems like a really good guy. She and Dylan initially connect on a musical level (even though at that point Rachel doesn’t know why that’s so apt) before they connect on every other level. The sex is thrilling, hot, and adventurous without being over the top and silly, and the dirty talk is phenomenal. Obviously there’s a cliffhanger…this is a serial afterall, but it’s not too awful as cliffies go. I CANNOT WAIT for book 2.

Change Rein Synopsis:

London Daniels is returning home to Willow Bay, Alberta, on the heels of a televised loss. She blew her shot at the Summer Olympics and cost Canada the gold medal in dressage.

During her years of training abroad, her family’s stable has fallen on hard times, and thus, they’ve accepted an offer to board the racehorses of Branson Tucker, the infamous tycoon, for the winter.

London lacks conviction after her ill-fated fall. And as if returning to her hometown to watch her epic failure replay on everyone’s big screen isn’t torture enough, she’s expected to cater to a man with an ego bigger than her hundred-acre farm just to earn a dime.

Is London saddling up for another ride that will leave both her heart and her ass in the dirt? Or could the handsome, unwanted guest at Willow Bay Stables be her second chance to go for gold?

Unusual metal bar stools stand near bar counter in blue light.

Review:

This book includes small glimpses of an alpha-male doused with romance, your quintessential moment of danger, pretty horses, sweet words and instalove so fast your legs will give out.

Branson is a little over the top. I mean, he creates this elaborate plan to get close to London even though he’s never actually met her in person. If I wasn’t shown what a good and decent guy he is, I may have found his action to be slightly psychotic. But, as it is, he’s just a driven man who is determined to get what he wants: and that’s London.

London was a dressage competitor – I say was, because she sort of had a life-altering injury, lost the Olympics, and hurt her ass. It would be less humiliating if she didn’t have to carry around an ass pillow everywhere she went. For real, I was like, uhhh, get some fabric girly and make a cover for that thing.

The attraction between London and Branson is immediate and all-consuming. They’re both affected in a can’tbreathe kind of way and I ached for contact between them to relieve the tension. Branson is sleek and sexy, just like his prized horse, and London is sweet and sassy, ready for the ride.

It’s a short little read that was quite enjoyable and deeper than expected. Overall: 3.5 stars.

Anne Jolin Bio:

10857986_10152976323909602_5063666653450511849_nHey y’all,

I was born and raised in Ladner, a small farm town just outside Vancouver, Canada. I grew up riding horses, shooting guns, and driving in trucks.

I never expected to be an author. A massage therapist? Yes. Take over the family construction company? Yes. But an author? No. Writing was something that snuck up on me and rooted itself into my life. It was beautiful to discover that love, and I’m truly grateful to say I’ve found my passion.

Since I’ve always been a creative person, it feels amazing to harness all of that energy and use it to tell a story I love. I enjoy incorporating bits of my real life into the stories I write. What parts are true? Hah. I’ll never tell—what would be the fun in that?

If I could leave y’all with one thing, it’s that life’s far too short to not live it out loud. Drown in your passions, hold on tight to the things that inspire you, and chase your dreams relentlessly. I can promise you without a doubt that you won’t regret it. I know I don’t.

Mad love,

Anne Jolin

Review: Rules of Seduction by Joya Ryan

Author: Joya Ryan

Book: Rules of Seduction

tl;dr recommendation: This book is quick and dirty, just how I like it. DAMN. 4 stars.

Book Summary:

He’ll be the dream and the dirty fantasy…

Through with both her controlling ex and relationships, Ava Webber is determined to explore the spicy and sometimes forbidden appetites of the exclusive BDSM nightclub, Serve. Here, she’ll get exactly what she needs…as long as it’s from a man she doesn’t know.

Nolan Hart ensures that Serve’s clients get what they want, how they want it. But with one look at the curvy brunette, Nolan knows he’s the man to fulfill her desires. As the anonymous lover, he’s Ava’s dirtiest fantasy. Outside of Serve, he’s her charming, smartass friend.

But Nolan wants more. More than Ava is willing to give. And as long as the blindfold stays on, she’ll never discover that the two men she’s falling for are one and the same…

Longer Review:

I don’t need a myth – I just need Nolan. Sometimes i love a book that’s focused almost all on the sex. it’s like i’ve cleansed my palette after satisfying a craving. This is one of those books.

Ava’s seeking to take back control in all aspects of her life. After suffering in a miserable and controlling marriage for longer than she ever should have, she’s terrified of commitment but still wants to find release with incredible sex. Something all-consuming. Something mind-blowing. She seeks out Serve, a prestigious sex club, and interviews with Nolan, the head of security/interviewer/prepperofsessions. He’s immediately taken aback by Ava’s bold proclamations of ‘Anything Goes’ sex and decides he’s going to give it to her. He doesn’t want her to get hurt like a girl from his past. Something about Ava calls him to protect her.

Ava’s determined to keep this anonymous. Thus naming mystery man, Myth.

As Nolan falls for Ava out of the club and fucks her into oblivion inside of the club, he struggles to figure out how to keep his two worlds separate when he so desperately wants them to collide. But when they do, can Nolan convince Ava to take him – the man, the myth, the legend (ohmygod I had to. It was THERE) – or will she succumb to the fears of her past that are still clawing at her?

There are some seriously intensely hot scenes in this book. Three words: vibrating tongue ring. I’m sending my husband out to get his tongue pierced now. Thanks, Joya. Lots of light angst and even some *gasp!* feelings made me enjoy the plot and the characters just as much as the sex. This book is quick and dirty, just how I like it. DAMN. 4 stars.

Book Summary:

Jake and Haven have finally found a way to be together. Haven realized that she is ready to trust Jake and wants to open up to him. For Jake, Haven isn’t an option, she’s not just another girl, she’s his future. He’s certain of that, or he was.

What the Lightning Sees Part Three is the final part in the series.

Coming next: Ashleigh Franklin’s story.

black and white closeup of woman end man kissing

Review:

Holy Jesus, what a ride. Bad news combined with bad timing made for lots of drama in this final installment!

Haven is her usual tight-lipped, yet opened-hearted self, while Jake is upended by an onslaught of bad news. I adored his openness and hated Haven’t logic (I shall call it anti-logic). HAVEN, HE LOVES YOU. MAYBE IF I SCREAM IT WILL SEEP IN. Bloody hell. I wanted to smack Haven upside the head every single time she made an idiotic decision (which usually ended up with her equally as upset as Jake).

Jake, on the other hand, I wanted to snuggle and fuck really hard. He has a way of knowing exactly what Haven needs even before she voices it. He is, most definitely, The Haven Whisperer. Jake’s being pulled in so many different directions, but he actually kept his wits about him. Well done there, chap. [This story is based in London. I have to get in at least a couple of British words]. However, the poor guy doesn’t know what to do with Millie and her drama. You’ll remember that she’s the ex-girlfriend who is pregnant. Jake, being a good guy, is trying to cater to her every need. I really wanted him to just tell her to fuck off. And when Beth (his sister) pretty much suggested that exact action, I was celebrating.

When the Millie drama comes to a head, I was cheering big time. THANK FUCK FOR THAT. However, there’s definitely a loose end there that bothered me…like, whose video was that?! Besides the fact that I called it, I really enjoyed this part of the story.

The sweetness of Haven and the dominance of Jake made me really fucking happy. Sexy, alpha male + sweet, demure but sassy female makes for an awesome story. Go read this one!

tl;dr recommendation: my favorite paranormal romance is back! NOW WITH MORE SEX & ROMANCE!

Book Summary:

I made a blind deal because I felt like I had no choice. Everything has changed now, and I need to know what’s going to happen next. The ones who have the answers are the ones I trust the least. I have Paige by my side, but she’s hiding a secret from me too.

The angels brought us somewhere that they swear is safe. They told me we’ll have time to rest and plan, which God knows Paige and I both need. I’m not sure how many more surprises I can take before I explode. I plan to take full advantage of this breather to give Paige the first date that she always wanted. Those small but important things remind me of what it felt like to be human.

So, of course, fate decides to throw me another curveball in the form of someone from my past. And the meantime, we still have a Goddess, a demon official, and half of the archangel council on our asses. There is no such place as a “safe place” for us anymore.

This is starting to become just another day at the office.

Review:

I adore this series. Every single installment sucks me back into the world where necromancers are normal, archangels may not always be good, and a goddess is trying to suck the life out of Paige. I don’t usually fall for paranormal romance, but this series just DOES IT for me.

We find out more about why Bruno so badly wants information on Riley’s father & there’s a bit of a confrontation *to put it lightly* that made me squee with excitement. However, no matter how they protect themselves now, the truth remains that unless Riley and Paige find a way to stop Eva from entering Paige’s body and taking her over, that she will be lost to Riley. Forever.

And we can’t have that now that Riley & Paige are finally together the way that I want them. Things are a little different now that Paige has Riley’s mark and I loved her passing thought that she’s going to find a way to mark him [although, girl, I think you already have where it counts]. This installment is so much more romantic than the last (Ivy promised it would be & she definitely delivered) and I could feel their souls connecting through the pages.

Ivy leaves us with a ridiculously crazy cliffhanger, AS PER USUAL, and now I’m left begging for installment 10. I am completely invested in this series. LOVE IT.

Review:

I think my heart just smiled. Right after it skipped a few beats. I couldn’t have more love for this series if I tried. Cristin ended this serial with passion, intensity and her trademark emotion that had tears welling in the corners of my eyes.

We were left off with Gray about to see Ems perform her second *errr third?* job…the one that she’s been keeping secret from him…the one that she so desperately wants to quit. Gray is there as an audition for his job. When all hell breaks loose, Ems gets thrown into danger and Gray has to battle his demons in order to be the man he needs to be. Sorry for the vagueness, but I’M TRYING NOT TO RUIN THIS FOR YOU. *pats self on back*

Gray and Ems continue to come closer together and the dopamine receptors in my brain were working overtime. [Was that the nerdiest description you’ve ever read of how much pleasure this book gave me? Hope so.] Cally and Gray also start bonding to the point that  my ovaries nearly exploded.

The heat level is cranked up to high in this book. Just skip the fanning yourself part and go stick your head in the freezer. Their connection is strong, intense and utterly romantic. I know I mentioned previously that I hoped that Gray and Ems get the ending they so desperately deserve and I am so happy to report that THEY DO. [that’s not a spoiler. that’s an I’m-Really-Happy-With-The-Ending report].

This serial goes on your must read list or we’re no longer friends.

Review: The Billionaire Game – Part 3 by Lila Monroe

Author: Lila Monroe

Book: The Billionaire Game – Part 3

The Billionaire Game – Part 1 Review & links are HERE

The Billionaire Game – Part 2 Review & links are HERE

tl;dr recommendation: Asher & Kate get the ending they deserve – it’s a great read.

Book Summary:

I knew he was trouble.

You’d think the words ‘Playboy billionaire’ would have been my first warning, but I went and fell hard for Asher Young. He said he believed in me and my lingerie design business, but it turns out, it was all just a game to him.

I never want to see his irritatingly-handsome face again. But how am I supposed to move on when he’s still my #1 investor?

I can’t decide if I want to slap him, or kiss him senseless.

Or both.

Longer Review:

A satisfying ending to the tumultuous tale of Asher & Kate! There is an excessive amount of drama waiting for you and an epic speech given by Kate that made me want to pull a Tom Cruise and jump on the couch. (did I really just make a Tom Cruise/Oprah reference?! I swear, I’m not even drinking right now).

Kate’s pissed. She’s so so pissed. And I can’t blame her. What Asher did it almost unforgivable…unless there’s a good reason. IS THERE A GOOD REASON?! So much angst.

Anyway, Asher is still his oh so sexy self, even though you don’t see as much of him as you’d like (Ok, I….as much as I’D like) in this installment. That’s due to Kate’s stubbornness. Honestly, it’s a little impressive. Kate’s obstinacy is at Expert Level. But don’t worry, he gives an epic speech as well that turned me to complete mush.

I felt that the ending was a littttttle rushed. I wanted to bask in the glow of that speech a bit longer, but perhaps I just really wanted to spend more time with Asher & Kate.  Also, I was so happy to see Lacey and Grant on their wedding day (total bonus), but what about that thing that Kate was making Lacey? Did she finish?! I may have missed that.

Regardless, this book is full of jealousy and miscommunication and eventually, lots of happiness. I’m completely satisfied with the ending, overall. Lila, once again, knows how to work her billionaires. <3

Review: Hindrance by Angelica Chase

Author: Angelica Chase

Book: Hindrance (The Excess Series #3)

Other books in series:

Review & Links to Reverence (The Excess Series #2)

Review & Links to Opulence (The Excess Series #1)

tl;dr recommendation: This is a must read series for those who like it dirty, hot & intense with a plot.

Book Summary:

Nina
Storms are a funny thing. Most people ignore the warning signs: a strong gust of wind, a lightning strike on the horizon, the distant rumble of thunder.

My head and heart had been at odds for the last two years because of Devin McIntyre, and my relationship with Aiden had only complicated matters. Still, I craved both men. Just when I thought the decision was taken from me, a choice between the two became inevitable. The two men I had attached myself to emotionally and physically had already told me everything I needed to know.

Although the dark clouds were gathering overhead, I ignored the lightning, played deaf to the thunder, and let the tempest push me toward them both. I ended up in a whirlwind of secrets, a vortex of deception and depravity I never imagined possible. I was drowning again, but this time … this time I would be ready.

Or so I thought.

Nothing could have prepared me for the coming storm.

If you are not a fan of cursing, erotic and extremely explicit sex, cheating, immoral behavior, dysfunction or sexual scenarios that may make you feel uncomfortable this is not the series for you. FILTHY EROTIC ROMANCE

Longer Review:

Erotic & intense drama. This book is filthy, shocking and made my mouth drop to the floor. With everything going on in this book I only wish that someone was there to fill it…

This is an incredibly difficult review to write without spoiling anything because EVERYTHING that happens in this book feeds off of a prior event/action. It’s like putting together the dirtiest puzzle ever. Had these been on the table when I forced to do puzzles in my teenage years with my family, I would have been WAY more interested. Just Saying.

I should note that cheating usually bothers me, but it totally didn’t here. I now gave zero fucks that Devin was married. This is outside of my usual reaction, so it just goes to show how fantastic this story is.

Anyway, we know that Nina’s trying to deal with the knowledge that Aiden & Devin are cousins. We know that Devin’s trying to find a way to leave his wife so that he can be with Nina. And we know that Aiden had left Nina ever since he found out that Devin is the “other man”. This final book continues down the path and shows just what lengths each person will go to get the outcome they want. While definitely erotic, it also throws in some serious suspense that I wasn’t expecting, but totally welcomed.

There are twists and surprises around every turn. Everything I thought I knew from the past two books was twisted once again and I found myself cheering and hoping for different things as the pages turned. The manipulation is fascinating and when it all comes out at the end, I was SHOCKED AS FUCK. You may want to throw your kindle. You may scream. But that’s what makes this series so awesome – you’re so sucked in that you’re invested in the outcome.

Regardless, I can tell you, it’s so so good. DAMN, Angelica. You’ve once again twisted my soul and I couldn’t be happier.

Review: Hate Fuck – Part 3 by Ainsley Booth

Author: Ainsley Booth

Book: Hate Fuck – Part 3

Other books in series:

Hate Fuck – Part 1 (review here)
Hate Fuck – Part 2 (review here)

tl;dr recommendation: good final installment, but sadly didn’t pack the fire and punch that I had come to expect from books 1 & 2.

Book Summary:

Hailey:
In the blink of an eye, everything changed, and I can’t pretend I don’t need Cole anymore.
He’s my heart and soul, but he’s shut me out, and I’m scared.

Cole:
Keeping Hailey at arms’ length used to be an annoying challenge. Now it’s a matter of life and death.
I want vengeance. And then I want Hailey to be mine, forever.

Final part of the three book Hate F*@k serial.

NOT A STANDALONE STORY.

Longer Review:

We pick up from the major cliffhanger where Hailey has been abducted and assumed to have been taken to her daddy’s bff to become a sex slave, or whatever he does there. Hailey is one strong chick. She pulls no punches – both literally and figuratively – and I started to love her even more. While she and Cole are still trying to figure out how to be in a relationship, Hailey is also now trying to handle some serious shit that was dished onto her plate.

I love this series. I do. The first novella had me fired up – the second gave me more heat, fire & danger – but the third just didn’t pack the same punch. For me, a lot of the scenes felt rushed and like the author was attempting to shove in as much information as possible to get the story finished. I honestly would have preferred a book 4 instead of the rush through the major events that I felt was happening.

I don’t want to be too overly critical because it’s still a really fun and good story. I just was expecting another five star read and I didn’t feel it, so this review may be harsher than I intend it to be. I still fucking love Cole & Hailey and I was so so happy for that ending. The heat level was great and there were some seriously sweet moments that I wanted to bottle up and keep forever. I really actually enjoyed how it ended and was left pretty satisfied.

Overall the series gets a 4.5 from me – but this installment is at a 3.75 – why don’t you read it for yourself? 😉

Review & Release Day: Reverence by Angelica Chase

Author: Angelica Chase

Book: Reverence (Excess #2)

Check out my review of Opulence (book 1) here

tl;dr recommendation: If you’re not reading these, you need to be. NOW.

Book Summary:

Devin
I was a prick, but I never hurt anyone that didn’t deserve it.
Well … until Nina.
I was a very smart man who made a very bad decision, but the mistakes I was paying for were not just my own.
My behavior toward her, no matter how unforgivable, had always been about protecting her—from me, from my wife, and from the long line of mistakes I would never be able to rectify.
Nina was finally done with me, and I knew it was for the best. I could finally keep her safe from depraved people like me. I needed her as far removed from the situation as possible. I tried to force myself to be content with her decision to move on … until I found out whom she was moving on with.

Nina
My unyielding love for a corrupt man might have cost me the affection of someone worthy.
With Aiden, I had finally discovered a version of myself I could tolerate; then he dropped a one word bomb that ruined my new sense of self. Instead of listening to my voice of reason, I blocked it out, until it became a scream that refused to be ignored.
Now, I would give anything to quiet that voice.

Longer Review:

Silly me, I thought that I had lost my mind after book one. Nope. Angelica has managed to coordinate a complete mind fuck. All of a sudden I love Devin – I think Aiden is being unreasonable – and poor Nina is stuck between a rock and a hard place (just not the kind she likes).

I don’t think I need to say it in every review, but I will: Angelica can write. This book has managed to turn everything I thought I knew from Opulence (book 1) into question. While I usually despise love triangles, I actually feel for both of these guys now. Where previously I thought Devin was a lying, conniving asshole, I’m now wanting to strangle his wife and release him from the chains of his unhappy marriage.

With the help of Aiden, Nina makes a big discovery of her own – and she’s not entirely pleased about it. I have a good feeling she’ll come around though. I mean, I know that at least she’ll come – THAT is a certainty. If you like gritty, filthy fucking, then I’m not sure why you haven’t one-clicked yet.

The story is great, the sex is phenomenal, and I’m now fully primed for book 3. This is one novella series that you will not be able to put down. SO GOOD.
